      Yes, for a year, but i never ate things like this. Whole foods all the way! Hope people do not actually think that this is what you have to eat to be on keto.

      I've been on keto for 2 years now. Video was kind of disappointing due to Jarrett's misinformation on the diet. I love Drew even if she didn't like keto foods :P

    I feel like I may have said this before, but as a Food Scientist, stuff about food on YT can be enraging. But Jarrett just rattled off food info like it is nothing and is always CORRECT. I know other professional Food Scientists who screw up the facts he gets right without effort! I am always so impressed by him!

      I eat keto cheese cake daily. Lol and it taste like non keto cheesecake. I can pretty much make anything into a keto friendly dish.

    Thank the lord for drew! Finally someone stopped Jared from licking his fingers/smacking his lips. He does it every time he’s on. I try and fast forward every time he’s on because of it.

    When you’re doing keto and cutting out the carbs your body stops burning carbs for energy and instead burns fat for energy, which is called a state of ‘ketosis’

    I’ve been on keto for year and have lost 70 pounds and lasagna would be better with zucchini instead of the meat for pasta part

      I've also made the "noodle" layer out of egg and cheese, mixed and baked in a thin sheet, and that's great too! Much prefer that or zucchini to using more meat as noodles. :)

    for the lasagna, you should have used grilled zucchini for the pasta. that's how I make it because my dad does keto cause it helps his diabetes, and we are always trying to come up with new dishes.

    Im keto and i honestly eat whole foods, mostly protein and fats. There is the myth that it is ZERO carbs but there is actually a 5% - 10% daily limit for carbs. Just need to choose it wisely.

    Any diet that requires me to give up fruits, or cut them back to the point of having "about half of one small strawberry", is not for me.

      Lmao I eat a bowl of strawberries anytime I want them and I'm on keto. When you have diabetes and are almost on insulin turning to a keto diet is a great option. Especially since one of the main drugs used for type 2 diabetes was just found to be killing the very people its suppose to help. My husband and I turned our health around and got off almost all medication due to keto. People like us can't eat fruit anyway it has sugar and sugar is a death trap no matter how its produced.

      You can have bowls of any berries, small peaches, small nectarines, anything that's less than 25g of carbs

    Keto is NOT Paleo... xD it's NOT about our bodies just eating fat for thousands of years, our ancestors ate berries and fruits and veggies, we kept evolving after the neolithic (developped lactose tolerances past childhood through consumption of dairy products, for example)... Keto's really about cutting all the blood sugar and changing your metabolism, putting it in a state called "ketosis" to force it to feed on fat instead. It's usually recommended to consult your doctor before going Keto, and if you're doing it for weight loss, it's not recommended you keep it up for too long, as it can lead to other problems (high cholesterol, deficiencies in certain vitamins, etc.). Keto was used since the 18th century as a type-2 diabetes treatment diet, and then as a treatment for people with epilepsy. It's pretty extreme dieting, so be careful... Essentially, the point is to trick your body into starving itself, and that type of extreme "body hack", when done wrong, can lead to serious health hazards, so please, PLEASE, make sure your doctor knows if you choose to go Keto.

      Also, didn’t our ancestors technically eat roots, bugs, things that grow underground, etc. because all of the fruits and veg we eat today are genetically modified. So, it’s almost impossible to eat a diet based on “what our ancestors ate”

      Sarah -Sunshine Very true, I was mostly reacting to the “paleo” justification, which is an epic load of BS. As for all diets are extreme, If you mean diet in the sense of weight loss program, and not the more general sense (what you eat), most are indeed on the extreme spectrum, but keto specifically is like a “body hack”. If you dont do it properly, your body literally starts converting muscle mass into food to survive... vegans might be considered “extreme” by many people, but keto is a whole different beast!!

    I’ve been one Keto for almost 2 years. Mostly I stick to whole food (meats, fats, veggies) but every now and then my family and I try recipes like this. It was definitely something we did more in the beginning to help with the transition rather than an ongoing thing now! Glad y’all found some you liked!!!

    Yes i agree there is something different for everyone but the keto diet doesn’t just help with weight loss but also helps with so many other issues related to the stomach, intestines, and skin as well. Also, keto is very easy to do vegetarian as well which is surprising to some people who don’t know much about it. Tofu is indeed keto & healthier keto is also very prominent. Not everything is strictly meat and cheese, there are healthy fats like avocados rather than oils and butters. & there are so many healthy, natural keto substitutions available as well! There are keto breads, keto baked good mixes, pizzas, cereal, chips, & candies! Most keto people do not eat meals like these each day, we eat less “substitution” like foods and rather resort to normal foods options, just by omitting the carbs the carbs, which is actually super easy to do! Thanks for making a video which exposes many to the keto diet, it is truly amazing and life changing for those who it works for! But i definitely know there is better recipes than these, you guys have to taste real good keto food!

    I'm doing keto because I'm diabetic and it helps keep my blood sugar under control. So, it's not just a fad diet. This is my lifestyle now!! Some people HAVE to eat like this because of their metabolic issues. If I ate even a healthy portioned "normal" meal, my sugar WILL spike. So, judge all you want... I'm very pleased with my results.... AND, my cholesterol has been awesome (avocados are keto-friendly). I've lost weight, have more energy and have overall improved inner health. I love that I can get full on a handful of nuts and a cheesestick.

      You can make something similar buy whole nuts and process them in a blender after you toast them in the oven. Add cocoa powder and I would use a monk fruit and erythritol combo for sweetener.

    Drew, I don't blame you for not wanting to eat a bunch of meat. Some of us *can't* eat most meats and rely on poultry and seafood only as our source of "protein". Others have made it a way of life. Vegans and vegetarians know what's up... as long as they don't push their lifestyle on other people(we all know those keyboard warrior vegans🤦‍♀️). Let's face, we like what we like, and don't like what we don't.

    I feel like these are special keto recipes for a once a week type treat thing but if you are doing keto you know it’s really about keeping it simple. 20 net carbs a day and it doesn’t necessarily have to be high fat meat. You can eat lean meats and get your fat from other sources...

    I've done years of keto and I totally agree, don't come with this substitution nonsense. Just eat it or don't eat it, the less carby replacement is probably still way over 15-20 grams of net carbs.

      No it's not lmao you can make just about any recipe a keto version and it taste as good or better than the real fill sugar version. I have keto cheese cake daily and I eat no more than 20 carbs a day and am full.

    Jarrett!!!! I haven’t gotten into keto because that’s too much trial and err to find what you like and that’s money. Low calorie high protein diet had been the most sustainable for me.
