Hello everyone, today I would like to invite you to enjoy the flower buds of my Cycnodes and Pileatum. I started to buy Cycnodes and Catasetum last year. I brought them home from a small ball, and after they sprouted, I planted them in pots. After growing them outdoors for a summer, they are now starting to have flower buds.
This is a green Pileatum, and its English name is Catasetum pileatum var. "Oro Verde". It is a very beautiful green Pileatum with large flowers. Seeing so many flower buds, I wonder how beautiful it will be when it blooms.
The other one is a golden Cycnodes, which is also a very beautiful one, but it only has four flower buds at present, but I am also very happy. This is its English name, Cycnodes Taiwan Gold 'Orange'. It is a golden Cycnodes. When I got these two Cycnodes, they were both balls, and I didn't plant them in pots at that time. I waited for them to sprout new buds, and then planted them in pots when the new buds grew up. This is what I learned from flower friends.
Like this green swan orchid, it had one bud when I bought it, and it opened later. It opened beautifully, and the flower was very big, as big as a girl's palm, like a small bowl. So I think it would be so beautiful if all the buds opened normally. Now it has three stems, that is, three balls, and the new balls are very big.
Then the golden one was bought with a single stem, and then it was planted in a flowerpot with sphagnum moss after it slowly sprouted new buds, and it was watered when its roots grew to the bottom of the pot. The first time I watered it, I almost didn't put any flower fertilizer, just a little enzyme, and then the second time I saw that its roots were growing very fast, I started to fertilize and water it with a lot of fertilizer. At the beginning, I used balanced fertilizer for the first two times, that is, flower fertilizer with the same nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ratio, so that it could grow more leaves and its bulbs could develop quickly, and then I started to give it more phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. And it has been placed outdoors for a long time, giving it good light, until the night temperature began to drop below 8 degrees Celsius, I moved it indoors. Swan orchid and floating lip orchid are the first orchids I moved indoors. I moved them indoors when I saw the temperature began to drop, and then I stopped moving them. Because if you move Swan orchids, especially those that have grown flower buds, their flower buds will disappear, so after I put them in the room, I almost never moved them out again. Especially those that have grown flower buds, I will never move them to another place. Those that originally had flower buds have been growing well. This golden Swan orchid has grown flower buds after being moved indoors. There are three other plants without flower buds, but the other two or three plants are about to grow flower buds, because I see that the bulbs are very large and healthy, so this is a very simple and labor-saving maintenance method for Swan orchid and floating lip orchid, and the flowers of Swan orchid are also very beautiful when they bloom.
