Thanks for showing us flower bulbs. Looking forward to summer
Hi! I usually don't take the time to leave an actual comment because I hate typing out comments as I'm usually multitasking. I get so much from your content and follow many of your suggestions! Thanks for making all your videos! ❤
I’m so glad they are helpful! Thank you for always watching!
love your channel. love your honesty!
Thanks so much! I try to be as honest as possible, even if that means admitting some garden failures!
Great video! Thank you for the tour!!!!!!!!
You are very welcome! 😊
Loved the tour..❤
I got some strawberries bare root but on,y three have taken. I also got song ither berry plants
Love shopping at the garden center with you
It’s so much fun!
Snow and ice overnight. 30 now. Lily of the Valley are very invasive in my area. Had to put down thick landscape cloth, hope I don't have them come back this spring. 🪻🪻🪻
Oh my, I hope they don’t come back!
Here in Virginia, we have about the same thing at Lowe's. I did go for the strawberries that you skipped over. I was afraid that they would dry out if I waited later.
aLL YOU DID WAS "PEAK" lots of selection!
😂😂😂
We've had a week of false spring, high of low 70's, zone 8a Georgia. Surprisingly we have nothing at the garden centers yet. I did score some great clearance shrubs at Lowe's a couple weeks ago. SOOOO excited! Topiary at 50% off. Crazy because these were things I was eye-ing last fall and didn't get them cux $$$. Good things come to those who wait :). How do I find your patreon page? I couldn't find a link.
It sounds like you got some great deals! I’ll start adding Patreon links to my future videos!
Fun video, inspired me to check out some bulbs! Has anyone tried growing lily of the valley in containers? I love them and have a lot of shade but I don’t want to deal with the invasive nature in the ground 😬
I e heard they are invasive so be careful!
@ yeah they are around here in western wa (zone 8b) which is why I’m thinking pots may be the way to go, like with mint 🌱
Thanks for always taking us along, Amanda, to see what’s in stock at the big box stores. I tend to order online at some specialty nurseries but did get a few bulbs last year at Costco and they did pretty good. I see the tulips and daffodils coming up now. Spring is exciting! Love seeing all you share with us and it’s helped me a lot in our zone 8 North Texas area. I agree about dahlias. I have had limited success with them. But I may order some of the new ones from Proven Winners and see how they do for me.
Let me know what you think of the Proven Winner dahlias!
Reallyblooking forward to you growing clematis. Ours died 😅 maybe it was in too much shade.
I’ll be sure to post about it!
Hi Amanda! I really enjoyed seeing all different varieties available in your area. Thank you for the tour!😊
I am glad you enjoyed it!
I found roots at Walmart and potted them for now. Astible, phlox, and one with really strange name and unusual look. Was pleased with how roots look!
Also bleeding heart are what I bought. They have all the others you are showing.
Awesome! I need to go check out Walmart!
I'm in Zone 4 so have a bit to wait, but thanks again for showing what we can look forward to!
I’m excited for you, too!
Thanks for this. I’m between Houston and Galveston (z9b). I love dahlias and almost talk myself into trying them but really don’t think they’d survive here. 😢
I’m semi-new to gardening having only really started after retirement about 3 years ago. I’ve never understood bare root plants (other than roses and trees) and I feel like you’ve helped me understand a bit. I honestly thought everything hanging on those racks were bulbs or tubers. I plan to plant more elephant ears and tractor seat plants this year, they did great until the snow!
I know you aren’t a veggie grower, I haven’t tried yet, but can we grow onions here?
Yes you can grow onions but you need to grow SHORT DAY onions!
Good morning 😊 Lilly of the Valley does alright in my garden zone 6, I don't find it invasive but also only have it planted under an oak tree.
Do yours come straight up through the oak leaves if left on the ground? Mine sure do!
@Chefabs911 sometimes lol but I have a lot of squirrels that cause quite a bit of damage in that area.
VERY invasive in my zone6 garden. I only planted one pup 25 years ago. I still find them popping up 10 feet away from the original plant which has been dug out and removed many moons ago. It has destroyed my pachysandra groundcover.
@sandrakay8540 it must not spread as bad because it's super dry area for me with the huge tree it's under.
Nothing here yet in SE Michigan but I did like that Pilu Clematis!
I'm going to look for that one! I liked it too.
I thought it was such a pretty bloom!
Hi Amanda. Always enjoy your Plant excursions 🤗. Would be interesting if more of your peeps would chime in on the Beautiful Dahlias and Peonies. ☺️
Agreed! I’d love to hear what others in my area think about dahlias.
Good morning Amanda! Thanks for the video!!
🪻 I have Piilu Clematis that I grew last year not sure if it will come back this year but it was really pretty. ❤
Oh that’s exciting!!! Maybe I will try it!
❤❤❤I'm not buying dahlia this year. I dave mine from last year and have 4 crates hopefully they survive.havent checked it yet.but I might try more lilies and glads
Thank you 💮
So much fun to go shopping with you! Great video.
Thank you 🤗
Those cyclamen are so pretty and pretty expensive! Nice to see what's available. 😊❤
I live in Plano. When do you suggest planting Dahlias and how to I care for them until they are planted.
I grew lily in valley in the mtns in CO and very invasive even at 8300 ft so I’m not sure they’d like the heat
Whoa!!!
Lily of the valley is invasive!
HD in my 8b SC area was putting loads and loads of potted bulbs out today.
It's so interesting that your dahlia's don't do well. I'm in Zone 9b Northern California and they do great here. Highest temp we've ever had 117F. The small ones do better than the taller varieties. What I deal with are spider mites. My nemesis. Organic methods don't work for me so I will be trying Garden Answer's method of dealing with them.
Those variegated cyclamen are so pretty; I have never seen that type before. The pineapple lilies are another interesting one that I had never seen. For anyone considering cannas do not plant them on the fence line, in ground, where you have neighbors; they will spread. I'm speaking from experience. I learned that from experience. Also, the mammoth elephant ears will also multiply over the years so you don't need too many. I can't figure out what to do with mine. 🤣
Love when you take us with you. This year I bought some dahlia's from walmart and opened them right away to check on them. They already had a long sprout and also the tubers didn't seem like good quality, but hey it was cheap and I'm on a budget. I usually don't check the bags right away and that would have been a mistake I would have lost my tubers. Open the bags right away when you buy them.
Sorry for my essay. 😅
My biggest issue with dahlias is that we have the high heat all day … it doesn’t get cooler in the evenings, so the dahlias never get any reprieve. They just can’t handle it … I’ve seen other gardeners with crazy high temps during the day but it cools off at night and their dahlias do great!
@shesamadgardener such a shame. 😞 They're so beautiful.
Hi Amanda. My zone is so different than yours. I leave in western Oregon. But i still like to watch you. 😉
It’s so fun to see how gardening differs across the country!
Thank you so much for this video! I was about to spend $100 buying online. This would save me some $$$ 😊🥰❤️
👋🏼 Hi! I got gladiolus and liatris from walmart. Liatris was 16 roots for $5.42, and glads were 15 bulbs for $5.42 as well. I got ranunculus at Lowes and ugh I wish I had known I could just keep them until fall! ( I’m in central Florida) 10 out of 12 corms are growing just fine but it’s already getting in the 70’s and low 80’s here. Live and learn 🙂🪻
Sounds like you got a great deal on your bulbs!
I still can't believe how much lower your prices are compared to up here in Canada. 🇨🇦 I'd have a full cart at those prices! Thanks for letting us live vicariously 😊
They are low, but considering what the dollar is like right now… it’s almost the same as here I think.
Lilly of the Valley is toxic to animals, smells amazing!!! And spread vigorously buy rhizomes under ground. But only toxic if you eat them not by touch. One of absolute favorites here in NH. They will come up through oak leaves and create a hole in them. They are happiest in the shade.
A favorite!!!!! NO WAY. They take over. My nemesis.
Wow!!! They sound intense!
I grew dahlia in the south west desert of CO it was upper 90s 100s and they were amazing. But dry
Awesome! My biggest issue is that it’s hot all day even into the night. I’ve seen gardeners with high temps but lower evenings say that dahlias do well for them.
The trumpet vine is native, at least where I am in the SE US, so not invasive but definitely aggressive and vigorous - not usually a good choice for a residential garden. The honeysuckle looks like it might be coral honeysuckle, a nicely behaved native vine. Hopefully it's labeled specifically somewhere on the package. I have seen bare root coral honeysuckle sold at Walmart and other box stores. You're right, people should be very careful what they're getting!
It is so important to do your research and make sure a plant is right for your garden!
@shesamadgardener Yes! Lessons I learned the hard way lol
The lg ones work great in Asia style arrangements
Ooo, good idea!!! Thanks for pointing that out!
I agree with the day lilies i ripped one out. Humongous plant short season of bloom. Like other short blooming plants im replacing most of them with other plant.
But i bought a smaller compacy variety that should bloom repeatedly. So it seems a lot better option. Its supposed to bloom may to august whete i live. So ill see this year.
Im realizing that in a small garden you cant have too many short blooming plants. So im switching out alot of them even if i love them. Less lilies, daylilies, peonies etc.
Good morning!
🪻 thanks for taking us shopping with you I always enjoy those videos 😊
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Lily of the valley is invasive in zone 7...Maryland. I would think if it does well in your zone, it will multiply. I am not sure how well it likes extreme heat. ⚾️
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Fun video. I’ve got to drive to the “city” today for an appt and am going to run in to Lowes to see if they have anything yet. They may not…it’s still early in my area. I’ve got Spring Fever!
Good luck and have fun!
Yay! I'm still waiting on my lowes and home depot to get their bare root roses! I did run by Sams last night and they had all the things. I didn't leave with any of them. I went a little crazy last year and the quantities are just too much for what I'm looking for. Excited to start shopping around though. I'm hooked on Dahlias. For me so far I've not presprouted them before so that's the only bummer- they are really late to bloom.
(St. Louis, MO)
It is a fun time of year to be a gardener! If the quantities at Sam’s are too much for you, consider splitting them with a friend or neighbor!
Omg yes, the Dahlias don’t like my El Paso, TX heat either🥵. I planted 8 tubers last year and got 3 flowers 6 months after planting and after the heat subsided 😅 so mayyyyu try again and plant them with more shading or mayyyy not try them at all haha
I think it’s that my temps don’t cool off in the evenings, so the dahlias never get a break during the summer!
@ Samsies. We’ll have 110 temps in the day and 90 at night so of course they hate it
Great video
Thanks! 😊
So do you think they have the same varieties at Walmart, and if are they cheaper or same price?
Typically Walmart carries the same company … I’m swinging by there this weekend to see what they have. The bulbs are usually cheaper at Walmart but tend to smaller/younger bulbs.
Lily of the valley can be very invasive. From what I’ve read there are 2 varieties and the smaller one is much more invasive. I’m still removing them after half a decade
Good to know!
Question will a bare root peony that I buy from lowes bloom the first year if I plant it in a pot?
Most likely not … it really depends on how old the tuber is and most of the ones sold in big box stores are small and young.
Hi I had a horrible experience with Dahlias too. I ordered tons of them and none of them lived. I don’t do them anymore.
🌺
💚💚💚
I will go ahead and join your new sites and support you and hopefully we will get to share some plants and garden ideas here in 2025.
I had to get rid of all my roses 3 yrs ago due to rosecaa disease. Those spots are empty, is it ok to plant roses again? I will try to avoid same spot.
You need to wait a few years before planting in the same spot … if you are going to plant far away from the original area, you should be fine.

Bought Dahlia tubers last year Spectacular
Hopefully yours do better than mine!
I have exact same feelings for dahlias. I wish I had known your channel before would have saved tons of money 😢
You’ll be ready for the next time!
I’m in SW Oregon. The bare root plants and seeds are out.
I hope you find some great ones!

Thank you for doing this, i never know what's good to get at Lowes .❤❤❤Spring Tx 9b
What month do you plant these bulbs?? Its almost touching 90 here .Were not getting much of a Spring. Hoping straight into summer🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Freesi and Dahlia specifically .🎉🎉
You are very welcome! I’ll plant the bulbs now! The bare root I like to start inside and then plant out after the last frost.
🙏🏻

Good morning ❤

Calla lilies make fabulous, elegant cut flowers and don’t have to be bought and planted every year. Elegant and easy - what more can a gardener ask for?
They are lovely and long lasting!
🌸
💚💚💚
I tried Lily of the Valley years ago. Did not do well.. Did not return. Think it is just too hot here. I only got a couple of wimpy blooms.
Good to know!
Staking is a huge need on tall ones They blow over
Definitely!
Nice
💚💚💚
I can’t watch! It’s makes me so antsy because our roses and spring bulbs won’t be here for at least another month but I keep feeling like I need to check my local stores just in case! Lol 😅
😂😂😂 just make notes and then you’ll be ready when your time comes!
@ oh I am! Lol
I think it will be like 2 months before we get roses, maybe 1.5 for spring bulbs
PS. Left out in our N. Dallas Texas area. 🥴
Ugh!!! Hopefully they will show up soon!
What’s your take on bleeding hearts? Have you planted them? Success, yes or no? Thanks
I want some bare root caladium, but it is still snowing whete i am.
I can’t do dahlias. For some reason, they just always get so infested with ear wigs. Maybe because my yard is always so humid and moist?
👍👍❤️🌹❤️
💚💚💚
The tubers from that company van zyverden is never the variety pictured
Do you have to get permission from Lowe's to film?×
Nope! The associates usually stop by and say hi since I’m there so often 😂😂😂
