Yesterday finished watching.
Very artfull, visualy and audiou astonishingly, with strong influence of space odyssey and quantum physics, and addfitionaly christinanity, Buddhims, nihilism, absurdism; and with respect to them all of them
Can't say that I would putted in my list of the best shows of I've ever seen, neverthless, I want to rewatch it.
Beautifull video, keep it up. Sonny boy deserves more attention.

I adore this anime so much. 2nd favorite second only to the Monogatari series. It's my favorite single season of a show though. It's just absurdly beautiful in so many ways. (Also pretty aure i see Kings of the Wyld and Sanderson books in the background, good taste my guy)
I love sanderson books, can't wait for him to get an adaptation some day!
Sonny boy to me is a coming of age story and I don’t really think it’s anywhere as deep as people make it out to be and I say that in a good way, the presentation would have made it way too confusing if it did attempt that. It’s metaphor for people entering the real world work system or higher education where they deal with new responsibilities like a salary or driving or say feeding yourself which is represented by the superpowers. The school is a place where wounds are healed needs are met etc and the worlds outside hold risk and uncertainty. Character development is done far more visually than in most shows which can also make it harder to understand.
Definitely agree it was never a out the setting it is about the students growing up and getting in nagaras case working through his traumas
