The best places for boudin and gratons (cracklins) are, Billy's, Don's, Best Stop or Poche's. They are ALL good, you just pick your favoriteone. The food may not be healthy, but you will die fat and happy, with a big smile on your face.
Next time go to Best Stop. Try some cracklins’

Oh man, I hear ya! Sticks are so hard to figure out. We wanted to learn before we our last trip to Europe, but we literally don't know anyone with a manual car :/ I'm glad Mark knows how to drive one at least! But ya, 8 hour drives (which inevitably turn into 10+ hr drives) are pretty brutal.
We're dying to get over to NZ and Australia...have so much fun!!
HAHA, I think I would run into the same issue, I don't know anyone with a manual car. Be sure to learn before you get to Australia and/or NZ because every backpacker van in manual! =/ -Amanda
Ray's in Opelousas is by far the best boudin.
Everytime I hear “biscuit” I automatically think of sweet biscuits you have with a tea ;) And when you show the food, I remember it’s something completely different in the US...

The highway in Houston is always like that, no matter what time of day, for the most part. I've been there a handful of times, and the last time I was there, I decided to not rent a car and just use the bus, because the traffic on the highway is killer. Almost moved there 10 years ago... glad I didn't - not sure my patience could handle dealing with the traffic to and from work!

You guys are amazingly entertaining. Most food blogs get boring after a few, but you are the exception. I have watched a dozen of yours and loved them all. Just enough local interest and great food reviews. The only thing I don't understand is how you both aren't 100 pounds over weight. I'm gaining weight just watching you eat all those wonderful foods.

Hebert's in Abbeville is the only place I know of that still makes "Red" Boudin (made with fresh blood, along with the rice & meat). It is absolutely delicious, and worth a special trip!
Has no-on made the link between the French word Boudin & the English word Pudding? many dishes are similar.
