- In the second episode of Mentor Buffet, Zach Braff shares with host Alexi Pappas about his relationship with his mentor Bill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs and Ted Lasso. Bill is the first person to give Zach a big Hollywood chance and he cast him as the lead of his show Scrubs as the iconic J.D. Dorian. They also discuss what it means to be yourself, what Zach learned making his debut feature film Garden State, the importance of gratitude, and how to avoid shin splints.

She really navigates the suicide story gracefully. I didn’t realize her own mom died by suicide.
Zach Braff always delivers but even after seeing him on so many other podcasts you managed to mine a diamond with this conversation. Excited to have discovered you just as you’re getting started this is a hit!
Really appreciate this conversation. Thank you both!
Loved this conversation! Keep up the great work 👍
I think there is magic here, please keep it up!
Fantastic interview
Can't wait to watch this. I remember watching the broken hearts club at the cinema! Muat have been 2001?
Beautiful talk! I really enjoyed this.
And about cinematography it made me think about how instead other directors have a lot under control, being famous for the numerous takes, the controlling or severity or the planning in the littlest details, probably thanks to the big budgets too, but more probably because of their personality.
It was really interesting hear about how Garden State was coming to life in a different way in the editor’s room, I wonder if it will be different now, all this years later, with probably more time to film, more budget and more experience.
