    Thanks for the video excellent. You asked a out what's happening at about 10 minutes in. You are looking down into the station site. In some areas this is at full depth and the intermediate floors are in place. In other areas they are still digging. I believe that the platform construction wilmainly be hidden by the intermediate floors. When you get to the Victoria Road box you can see the tail structures of both Emily and Ann, which are about 200 metres long. The heads of the TBM'S are where the access shaft is, further along. At the other end of the site the TBM's for the Euston tunnels are due to be assembled and wild rive the first portion of the tunnels so that their tails clear the station site. There is another tunnel being dug by TBM Lydia that goes from this area to near the rail logistics hub through which spoil from the Euston tunnels will be taken and the lining segments delivered. Keep the good work.

      An the TBMs are arriving this year, I suspect their going to be a lot of calls to just dig the tunnels to Euston all this year and into 2025. @@simoncroft9792

    The canal level is controlled and does not vary. Reservoirs and pumping stations out in the chilterns keep it topped up. and welsh harp i believe.

    Very very interesting. Old oak looks a bit different since i used to visit late 1980s with the class 50,s and the turntable aaah happy days. Unrecognisable now 😢

    Why has China 30,000 kilometres of hi-speed rail.......and the UK spat the dummy at 100 kilometres? 🤔🤔🤔

      Because we have an incompetent and corrupt government in thrall to the roads lobby.

    Nice one! An area i knew in the 80/90's on my spottin expeditions to OOC and WN from Kent. . . Some more facts about the George J. Churchward designed Old Oak Common depot, it housed the largest covered turntable shed in the world with 4 turntables until dieselisation. It had the first ever female loco driver based there in the UK from 1978/9, and perhaps the first to have a 2nd female loco driver based there from 1990 (my ex girlfriend lol), firstly working class 1's out of Paddington after DMU driving. She moved on to drive freights off Acton some time later in her illustrious 25+ year career! Oh the stories i have!!!! . . . Crazy to see the area like this now, at least its still railway land, unlike the mighty Stratford depot area these days. Great views of the skyline and good bit of ambient aswell on this. I produce such stuff. If i hadn't had the dj name of 'trainspotter', me and her would of never of met, as she found me on pirate radio ! . . . My plan actually worked (for a while anyway). Subbed, most interesting updates thanks :D

    Great superstructure for the South, as usual bugger all for the North

    • @JohnSmall314
      @JohnSmall314 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not even for the South. I can't see that anyone is going to use HS2 from Birmingham to Old Oak Common, get off the train, wait at the station for a slower, crowded commuter train into Central London. It'll be much quicker to take the train that already runs from Birmingham direct to Euston.
      Absolutely no one from "the South" is going to get on a train from Central London, go to Old Oak Common, wait an extra half hour there for the HS2 train to Birmingham. It's completely pointless
      The whole exercise is just funnelling money from tax payers to Tory party donors and friends while keeping it legal.

      I’ll be using it everyday, Solihull to my desk in under an hour door to door, gladly get off here onto Lizzie line instead of Northern line at Euston

    The problem with this design is that NOBODY WANTS TO GO TO OLD OAK COMMUNS fast .

    Why do you need to take ‘special care’ when tunnelling under a cemetery ? Highly unlikely the residents will be writing to their MP’s, or is it ?

      Recent surveys have shown that most correspondence from MP’s is addressed to Post Codes of cemeteries.

    would there be a reason as to why the above ground buildings have not started as yet,being has the bottom section has concrete in place,and is it right ,that tbm,s are to finish the chilton hills in february then transfer to here,thanking you for the talk thru

    I'd of thought the reason is look at the size of china you could get the whole of the UK in one of their regions and then you wouldn't see it space is as valuable as money

    Shame the drone is showing a herd of white elephants, sorry one white elephant. Shame if you had to travel ten miles from central London to ge there. How long did that take out of curiosity?

  • @colinwinn5588

    Video good, but what a shocking waste of money this whole ridiculous project is. It isn't needed and will achieve nothing at all, who the hell wants to get to Birmingham twenty minutes quicker anyway? But then again, in public transport obsessed London why should I be surprised

    • @johnkeepin7527
      @johnkeepin7527 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Although reduced passenger journey times have made the headlines, many of these new “high speed” lines have been constructed to increase overall railway capacity, especially for freight on the existing routes. Of course, shortening the project will undermine this concept, especially in the North West beyond Birmingham.

      And as it goes to Digbeth, you will have to get a bus or taxi to get to Birmingham centre lol. So actually take longer and I bet a lot more expensive. Where is old oak common by the way lol anywhere near London 😂

    Anyone who refers to a railway station as a 'train station' gets a thumbs down from me!

    • @GIOGS
      @GIOGS 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You go to a bus station to catch a bus. You go to a train station to catch a train. No one is catching a railway….
