I wish Carlo would wear a mask when he is working with drywall. My husband ended up with a tumor in his lung that had to be removed because he didn't wear a mask when doing similar projects. The doctor said the tumor formed because of his exposure to fine dust and other building materials.

My husband is one of those too.🤣. We save so much not having to pay to do things. If he can't do it he will research it, he is a very visual learner, so all he needs is a few looks and he is good. It wonderful.

I find sometimes people can be quite mean to previous owners and you two are wonderfully kind, even though the transition was so difficult with the previous owners. Yes, he & his brothers built the Positano house. He lived there with his first wife & Tomaso. Then it was abandoned.

Your vlogs are never boring. They got me through Covid, my husband's stay in long term care and through his passing last March. We travelled extensively through France and Italy for over twenty years. I miss those trips and hope to start travelling again this year. Kudos to both of you for taking on this new adventure. Your new house will no doubt be as amazing as your house in Positano when you finish with the renos.

My husband and I are 62 and 63 and we are hoping to move to Italy this fall. We will be looking for something smaller with less work to do, but I am love watching their journey. I cannot wait to set up a home in Italy.

I also got my very first allotment patch age 58 here in London 😆 Now I grow my own veg and fruit. Best feeling in the world! Age is only a number, it’s your attitude to life and,and good time management.

I've replaced my own gutters recently and bought plastic grids to put on them to stop them being clogged with moss - it looks as though with all the trees around yours will likely get blocked a lot, so you may want to fit something similar.
Looks like you're working hard but enjoying the process. The simple joy of being able to easily get items delivered that the rest of us take for granted! 😊

The joy and excitement of your new home, the ideas of design, form and function flowing like a fountain of youth, revitalising and adapting to the circumstances. It's just beautiful to watch you both. Shopping for new and 'good used' furniture, reminds us that it is all so familiar bringing nods and smiles to our faces, watching you both go for it with such gusto! This was so exciting to see, and you’ve got a wonderful start and can hardly wait for the kitchen builder to do his magic! The view there is so gorgeous! Carlo did a beautiful job on that archway! The house is going to come together so well! The last owners were real assholes weren’t they? And after you were so kind to grant them months and months to move out. Having taken all the fixtures, lights and everything. They may come to get the turtles and find that the’ve moved along..would serve them right.

I agree that the other owners didn't seem very considerate during the entire selling process, but important to note that it isn't uncommon in Europe for owners to take fixtures and appliances with them -- I find it odd they took all the bulbs, but the rest of it seemed quite normal unless there were agreements made to leave them.
Many people like buying their own appliances and fixtures, so I suppose in a good way it saves on decent items being tossed just because of style/feature preferences?
@@jeorjina I get it, as I lived in Europe for many years and had my kids there. I remember having to buy a new kitchen at IKEA and having to get appliances which I found secondhand. This was in Germany, but I was never left in the dark because normally they leave at least a couple of fixtures snd lightbulbs..lol.! It is just a lot of cash to come up with initially particularly after having bought a house or the preliminary rental in an apartment. It was doable in those days. Now everything is so expensive in comparison, so I don’t know how people do it now!

It's so sweet the little gifts people have given you. Seems like it worked out well that you ended up moving in mid January. It's not too hot while you're doing all that physical work, the holidays are over and then you have the winter and spring to set up the house before it gets hot, just in time to host, garden and enjoy your new home. It is so nice to have a handy guy who's good at working on the house, Carlo does so much. The little doggie cupboard is too cute.

Another small thing well worth the few dollars it costs is a "Guardline" driveway alarm,. let's you know when someone starts up the long drive etc. .... 1/4mi. range and it has any sounds to choose from..... Just a thought🤔when you have your attention on work ..... I hate surprises when I'm busy etc. Look's like you'll have a nice place but plenty of work.👍👍👍

Hi Nicki, I would like to ask you to tell your father a GINORMOUS thank you from me!!! His idea to send fragile items surrounded by toilet paper rolls is AWESOME!! Once I heard that in your video, I thought “This is it!!” It solved my problem on a spot! Long story short. My daughter has moved to Canada from New Zealand and couldn’t take her PC with her and was going to buy a new one over there, which was not ideal as she’s trying to save money until she finds a job there. But PC is important part of her job as she’s a visual effects and digital design graduate. After I watched your video, I've purchased two packs of toilet rolls, surrounded PC with them in a box and posted. PC has arrived in Toronto and works perfectly!! Thank you SO MUCH for the idea!
