Azadirachta indica, commonly known as neem, nimtree or Indian lilac, is a tree in the mahogany family Meliaceae

USES
1. Hair Comb: Wood of neem tree is used to handcraft hair combs and it is believed that regular use can control hair loss, dandruff and other scalp problems
2. Toiletries: Neem oil is used for preparing cosmetics such as soap, shampoo, balms, and creams as well as toothpaste
3. Animal Treatment: Used to treat sweet itch and mud fever in horses
4. Toothbrush: Traditionally, slender neem twigs (called datun) are first chewed as a toothbrush and then split as a tongue cleaner.This practice has been in use in India, Africa, and the Middle East for centuries. It is still used in India's rural areas. Neem twigs are still collected and sold in rural markets for this use. It has been found to be as effective as a toothbrush in reducing plaque and gingival inflammation
5. Tree: Besides its use in traditional Indian medicine, the need tree is of great importance for its anti-desertification properties and possibly as a good carbon dioxide sink
6. Neem gum is used as a bulking agent and for the preparation of special-purpose foods
7. Cosmetics: Neem is perceived in India as a beauty aid. Powdered leaves are a major component of at least one widely used facial cream. Purified neem oil is also used in nail polish and other cosmetics
8. Bird repellent: Neem leaf boiled in water can be used as a very cost-effective bird repellent, especially for sparrows
9. Lubricant: Neem oil is non-drying and it resists degradation better than most vegetable oils. In rural India, it is commonly used to grease cartwheels
10. Fertilizer: Neem extract is added to fertilizers (urea) as a nitrification inhibitor
11. Plant protectant: In Karnataka, people grow the tree mainly for its green leaves and twigs, which they puddle into flooded rice fields before the rice seedlings are transplanted
12. Resin: An exudate can be tapped from the trunk by wounding the bark. This high protein material is not a substitute for polysaccharide gum, such as gum arabic. It may, however, have a potential as a food additive, and it is widely used in South Asia as "Neem glue”
13. Bark: Neem bark contains 14% tannin, an amount similar to that in conventional tannin-yielding trees (such as Acacia decurrens). Moreover, it yields a strong, coarse fiber commonly woven into ropes in the villages of India
14. Honey: In parts of Asia neem honey commands premium prices, and people promote apiculture by planting neem trees
15. Soap: 80% of India's supply of neem oil now is used by neem oil soap manufacturer. Although much of it goes to small-scale specialty soaps, often using cold-pressed oil, large-scale producers also use it, mainly because it is cheap. Additionally, it is antibacterial and antifungal, soothing, and moisturizing. It can be made with up to 40% neem oil. Generally, the crude oil is used to produce coarse laundry soaps
16. Animal feed: Neem leaves can be occasionally used as forage for ruminants and rabbits
17. Musical instruments: Neem wood is considered among the best for the body of the dayan, or right-hand drum, of the tabla - the paired Indian hand drums

Apart from a wonderful video, the various uses of the neem tree elaborated by you in the description are very educational. I honestly salute you for your efforts.
Can you please post an update of these cuttings? How are they doing now? Many of us here would love to see them as getting them to a shooting stage is relatively simple. It is the growth, transplantation and maintenance during the first 6 months to 1 year that is a challenge to many. So if you keep posting updates every 3 months or so, it would be great. @@GauravChhikaraGardenDubai can i spray neem water the next day as i see some small white insects in the soil.
@@RohitPoddar409brother the better option would be to change the soil completely. They would not go completely if you reuse the infected soil. Try and get some fresh soil and add 50% sand (river sand is the best) to the mix and start from there.
Neem water can be better used on plants and 1-2 applications and the problem is gone for good, but the soil is a different beast to tame that easy.

The timeframe is 6+ months- the roots would be in great shape and the plant will just take to the new container/ ground really well. Anything else, please feel free to let me know.

Yes, that's right. Had just started making videos hence didn't realize that I should extend the young plants' journey to 3 or more months. They did pretty well though, so go ahead and raise some of your own.
For a month or so the newly planted cuttings would need a shaded area, so if you can manage that, well, plant them anywhere 🙌👍

Why would you use neem as miswak! Grow the Miswak tree. Salvadora persica or the toothbrush tree is a small evergreen tree native to India, the Middle East and Africa. Its sticks are traditionally used as a natural toothbrush called miswak and are mentioned by the World Health Organization for oral hygiene use.

I think getting dirty is a great start, he would be all over the pots, soil, and plants, every time I start working on a video. It is good informative vide on propagation of neem cuttings. Please clarify can we use 100% cocopit as a potting mix The idea is root propagation in cocopit would be easier & better. Or alternatively 1/3 of cocopit, 1/3 soil &1/3 sand as potting mix. The hard matured neem cuttings can be used for propagation.

I am literally shocked that we can actually grow cuttings . Before this I was growing neem from seeds for bonsai this will help me to make neem bonsai fast way . And can we use thick cuttings .

The containers in which you had put the cutting does it have drainage holes? Also why your cutting container had plates placed below them with water in it?

- Drainage holes are a must in every plant pot so yes, please make some if its not already there
- I had presoaked the pots before inserting cuttings and once I put cuttings in it, I watered again and placed those saucers for excess water which drained out of the pot

Great video, one question, how frequently should we water the cuttings? Or should we mist them?
Thank you 😊👍. The cuttings should stay in a shared area and watered twice a week, more once leaves show up. Misting can be done everyday in the evenings that would just help them shoot faster 😊. Anything else, please let me know and we can have a discussion again.

Hi what type of soil mix to be used to grow plants in uae
Hi. Welcome to my channel. Please know that soil type is as important as the nutrients you keep in that soil. Generally a mix of potting soil and sand (80:20) works for all the plants, which you can alter if a plant needs less water then more sand than potting mix (you will find that at any of the nurseries or supermarkets). About the nutrients- make sure you replenish(urea, compost et cetra ) the soil every 6 months in Summers and 2 months in Winters. And let me also mention how important pruning is to have healthy plants. Though the best time to do it in this climate is end of February.

That's all a naturally occurring phenomenon, old leaves make way for new leaves. You must not worry as long as new leaves are growing and taking their rightful place on the tree 😊👍

If grown in water, then in how many days it should root?
The water propagation would be completely different. No way cuttings would take root in water; well, roots which will survive and be a part of a future tree at least that won't happen. So the only way Neem would grow roots in water is this way- you can take a rooted seedling from the ground and continue it in water. So my advice- start Neem cuttings only in the soil if you want a future tree. Hope that answers your query, if there is anything else, please let me know.

Yes, you got to do nothing different except the soil mix. If you can have equal parts of vermulite, perlite and garden soil in a pot and then start a 4-6 inches silver buttonwood cutting. Rest everything else is the same.

Can u pls tell I had 3 yr neem tree and next to it in same hole I plant neen plant will neem plant grow into tree
Planting any two plants, so close to each other would always have an adverse effect, the smaller plant will grow considerably slow, due to limited access to nutrients and even sunlight. So my suggestion, get them apart at least 4-5 feet away from each other.
And if you have no option, as far as space goes, then I don't see a choice for you 😊 Let them grow side by side and hopefully they will manage, somehow and somewhat.

There would be less and less branching out if the stem is too young or weak to hold sideways growing. So you need to concentrate more on getting more girth on the stem and getting roots really developed. Also, if it's not too much of a problem, please share a few pictures of your Neem tree here

1. It's just 5 days and the plant is in a small bottle and a small plastic bag planted. Now how to shift to a pot and when. The new leaves has just come out.

How- make sure you don't disturb the roots at all, and simply put the root ball with all the soil into a bigger pot or ground.
hi, i repotted a neem tree and all the leaves fell, but branches are still green. Is there a way i can encourage leaves to grow again, or should i just propagate it now?
Hi Gibeshia, welcome to my channel, please make sure you are subscribed. Keep supporting. About your question- that has to be the 'transplant shock' so you got to be patient and keep taking care (especially water and no direct sun for a couple of weeks) of it the normal way and it should come back to life. Now if you want to start another one, please make sure you start the cutting in a pot which can hold the plant for at least 1 year and then of course repot it. I think you also got to take care of how easily you can remove the young plant from a pot. Hope I did manage to answer your query.

Aur apke paas plant hai already ya abhi grow karna hai. Matlab seed se ya cutting se. Seed se karoge toh maintain aaram se hoga and chhota rakh sakte ho easily. Cutting se lagaoge toh thoda jyada kaam hoga shuru mein and survival bhi thoda tough ho sakta hai.

I see you pouring the excess cinnamon water back into the soil ? Is it okay to do that?
Yes, cinnamon and water solution in moderate quantity is a great fungicide and it also promotes growth. Also, you can use it every year in all the pots- a teaspoon cinnamon powder with a litre of water in each pot is just perfect.

Great, thank you. Namaste to you too 😊🙏. I would suggest if you are use one of these- either cinnamon powder or aloe gel otherwise they would cancel each other out. And cinnamon has given me great results so my opinion would be that you go with it. Overnight is fine but no more than 10 hours, please. Yeah temperature is perfect there in Brisbane right now for Neem's propagation. Also on the side get some neem fruits so that you can start a couple of trees from the seed too. Haan aur options hai- aloe vera gel ya honey ya hydrogen peroxide mein bhi dip kar sakte hain cuttings ko, lekin main innke success rate ko verify nahi kar sakta abhi, may be in future, yes. Yes, that's right I did use Cinnamon powder and have been using it for a couple of years now 😊👍💯
➽ Cinnamon works great as a fungicide (help the wounded part heal better) and even helps with the rooting during propagation (all you got to do is scar the cutting and dip it in a solution of cinnamon powder and water for about 2-3 hours before putting them in the soil).
