I like how you didn’t glorify falling in like some people do and also didn’t do a super click-baity thumbnail. Keeps it real unlike some other ice fisherman
Glad you're ok I recently found out some minor health problems are actually major. I'm unable to fish for now and have been pretty down and isolating myself. I've been struggling with something's and your videos help keep up the good work.
Hope whatever you're working through comes out okay man! Glad to hear you are okay and it's an added bonus that you could collect most of your things. Wishin ya good luck and tight lines
A lesson for everyone from this: If Aaron lost his jacket his keys and phone would've been gone and he would've been stranded out in the cold while soaking wet. Better to keep your keys and phone locked in a pocket in your bib which you can't lose if you fall though. Or in another pocket of an undershirt or something if you think your bibs could slip off somehow.
His truck has a key pad he can literally lock the keys inside and use the keypad to unlock it Also those ford's have a secret fob compartment Most ford guys know this lol
Over the years I've had the unpleasant job of recovering several young people that have went through the ice. And have lost their life. So from a guy who loves being on the ice fishing, take some advice. Give it a couple more days next time. Glad you're tough as nails my friend.
This is when you ask for Jay Siemens for help. Since he has his diving license. To help you retrieve your gear 🤣🤣🎣🎣. Stay safe.. keep rocking out those ice fishing videos..
Hope you're been doing well pal! After a lifetime of fishing on the open water, your videos are what got me into ice fishing. Sending you lots of good vibes!
Bringing that bucket up with everything still intact, bordering on unbelievability. It fell down to the bottom and came back up with everything still inside? Crazy.
Well, a 5 gallon bucket filled with gear would float on its side, the heavier side down, then water would slowly start filling the bucket.. as it does the bucket would fill up and sink heavy side or bottom first. I can easily conceive how it could end up on the bottom of the lake right side up and gear / contents intact
Hey brother for what it means, I've been subbed for a long time and you really promote safe boating and safe behavior out on the water, and you've likely saved a few lives from people buying the life jackets you wear and little things like that. I was in a very serious boating accident and it changed the way i act on the water, so anything you can do to prevent people from being stupid is an absolute heroic move. But hey, we're human we can't be perfect all the time, take care bro and make more videos! 39 hours season 3!!
Bee through the ice myself and its pretty freaky to be in the middle of nowhere and freezing cold let alone losing all of your stuff, really gives you a new perspective. Glad you're ok Aaron!
This video made me nostalgic of the days when Aaron posted more regularly. Oh and it reminded me that ice safety applies to everyone. Thanks for posting, I know I'll be more cautious out there
Aaron thank goodness you’re okay and brave enough to share your story of stupidity to help educate other anglers and save them from making the same mistake. I’ve been on ice that I’m shocked I never went through. I could see the waves in the ice when I stepped. I always thought my toboggan would float all my gear but maybe not. You should have got Jay in a dry suit to get your stuff. I love your videos man. Be safe and keep them coming. Let’s all be smart and stay off unsafe ice!
The fact that the ice melted and he was able to get almost everything back is insane. You may be dumb for falling in but the level of inginuity and not giving up shows a lot. Glad your safe!
Wow! Someone was looking out for you that day buddy! Incredible recovery... stay safe out there everyone no fish is worth that kind of risk.... keep them lines tight
Lol, the man almost dies and the audience is like "oh that lazy TH-cam fisherman put up another video!" But for real, I hope theres lots of videos this winter!
Glad that you are ok. You’ve raised a lot of awareness regarding ice safety in the past and I’m happy that you eventually ditched your gear. Scary stuff. Awesome adventure getting your equipment back! Stay safe!!
I did my first day of the ice fishing season today. I was definitely thinking of you today. I thoroughly checked the ice on my way out and it was all good to snowmobile on. I rode along the shore anyway just to be safe. I started to ride out on the ice and I thought I better check this area too since the ice thickness is different all over the lake. It turned out to be thick enough to walk on but would have been very risky to ride on. I left my sled on the shore and walked out instead. I ended up catching my PB Brook Trout on this gorgeous sunny day. Thanks so much for sharing your story and making us all a little safer, including myself today.
Glad youre okay Aaron, your videos help me get through the tough days! I rewatch the old ones all the time. I appreciate that you show what youre using and how to use it etc. Very cool to see the retrieval process. Seeing all the equipment in action is quite a selling point. Hang in there buddy!
Assuming the first two minutes are from before you fell in which was retrieved from the bottom of the lake, I'd be really interested to see your reaction from the GoPro footage of the whole situation. I'd understand why you wouldn't want to post that, but I think it would be interesting to compare/contrast an actual situation you fell in vs the ones you planned on going through.
I just found your channel a couple weeks ago, and have enjoyed quite a few of your videos already. I’m very glad you made it through that ordeal - very scary stuff my man... Glad to see you are ok. That said, I don’t think there’s anyone else I’d rather watch retrieve gear from a lake bottom! Not that I want to see that again though. I hope that your gear is all still working, but most importantly glad your alive and well.
Nothing is worth your life bro. Whatever you are going through I hope you come out the other side well. Stay positive and stay safe. Signed some random guy that has never talked to you but loves your work! ;-)
Hey man.... hopefully the other stuff going on in your life clears up soon so you can keep your head on straight !! I know the feeling !!! Glad to see your ok ! take care buddy ... catch-em-all !!
Now that's a great thriller to show your grandkids one day! Went through the ice on Lake Michigan myself. I'm here to say I sold all my gear and my boats. I now buy all kinds of fish in the meat department at Pick N Save, its way less expensive! May God continue to be with you!
The scariest experience I have had while falling through the ice is I was on my large pond with very deep spots and many springs in the marsh and i thought I was plenty safe because I couldn't even break through with my tool I always check even when it was the first of February because of the beavers and the amount of springs in the pond and I have fallen through before while running my trap line. I was going down the stream through the Marsh since there was a beautiful set of car and yote tracks I realized I went to far and was of my property so I didn't feel comfortable setting any traps even close to my property like just incase of disputes and while on my way back I started hearing it cracking but figure I was ok since I was following my own tracks and like is said the ice was plenty thick 4"to 6" so falling through was never even a thought. I got about 100 feet from the beginning of my pond and there was an extremely loud crack and I took one step and boom I went straight through my first fear was almost panic because I didn't want to be sucked under the ice because I thought forsure there must of been a strong current to make thin enough ice in order for me to fall through but all of a sudden I realized I was standing in water up to the middle of my stomach but the extremely scary thing is I was about 2 to 3 feet below the bottom of the ice! There was about 5 feet of air underneath the ice and it was completely hollow since when it froze the water went down tremendously. I am quite experience when it comes through going through the ice just from years of running trap lines but this was a new problem that I've never experienced before and I haven't read or watched anything about this. My phone was of course soaked and shut off and I thought for sure there would be no way of getting back to the top especially without breaking through again even if I did. But fortunately after about 5 to 10 minutes I was able to figure out how to use the big grass humps left from muskrats and limbs of trees from the beavers and was able to make something strong enough to get up high enough to pull myself out I still thank God that the ice was strong enough to pull myself out even though there was no water underneath it. I still think to this day about how lucky I was to be able to get out and how crazy it was that I walked over the same spot twice without falling through and especially about breaking through such thick ice it's absolutely crazy how weak ice is when there's no water underneath it I mean this was a solid five or six inches of ice where I broke through. I thank God that I've done tons of research on cold weather survival and I always keep away to make fire even though I was less than a mile away from my house and only a quarter mile away from my cabin there's no way you can travel that far when it's negative 30° f out and your three quarters of the way soaked just to get to a point where I was safe again on the ice my clothes were completely froze. Because of my research that I've done and my parents and the supplies I brought like I said having a inability to make fire I always keep that in a waterproof container with a few layers of protection so I was able to make a fire and hunker down for an hour or two to dry off enough to make it home. Still scares me to this day remembering the site I was looking at with the whole above my head and looking forward and seeing all the air in between the ice and water basically look like a giant cave I was in and even though the whole was only two or three feet above my head it looked like it was 20 feet above my head with the sun shining down in it

Thanks for posting this , it really will remind people that ice safety is no joke . 4 inches of hard ice to walk on, 12inches to drive on, 20 inches for big 4x4 . Early and late ice eats vehicles and drowns people every year .
@@FishNFoolLures Yeah. The upright bucket came at the end of a long line of good luck there. I realize there's a profit motive for TH-camrs to go out on thin ice, and lots of them do it, but that ax hitting water on one swing shouldn't tell him or anyone else where it's safe to walk unless they're walking back to the truck. Mother Nature has no patience with people who ignore her warning shots!
Aaron you are a crazy man!!! Stay safe out there. Watching the video again at the begining you said, "We are confident about the ice out there!" Famous last words. I got myself into a tricky situation last Monday. I hiked down a mountain to access a spot loaded with Coho Salmon. Had a blast hooked maybe 30 fish. Stayed a bit too late. Hiking out I took th wrong ridge and hit a cliff. Had to hike back down and go a different way. In no time I was in pitch BLACKNESS! Trying to scale up on my hands and knees straight up a sharp heavily wooded, slippery, mossy, muddy slope. Luckily I had a head lamp. Dragging four rods and four fish getting snagged on everything, extremely fatigued and on nothing remotely like a trail. I messaged the wife my location since I figured I was in a little bit of trouble. At one point my hat and head lamp got knocked off and went rolling down the mountain. Had to descend and get it. Finally I got to the new growth of the clear cut where I knew I was parked. I had to crash basically through dense new growth. I fell on my face so many times and was so exhausted when I saw the flash of my license plate through the trees I had the greatest sense of relief ever. Why do we risk so much to fish??? Yesterday I was out with the whole family for our first outing on the ice, 2.5 inches of decent ice. It's going to be a great season! Let the Freeze begin!!! I think all your ice safety videos jumping through the ice have come in very handy for you! Thanks for the honest warning from personal experience.
Nice Work, Brew. I’ve retrieved some stuff from that depth before as well & it made me very happy to’ve gotten nearly everything back. I pulled up a 12v marine batt with 20lb braid on a Shimano Calcutta 250C on an All-Star Med Action rod, then recovered 2 rods. I let a few items be, but got the irreplaceable items (dad’s old Abu 5500Cs) within 20 mins. I also scored a drag chain & an anchor that weren’t mine. So, I get it. Nice Work, Pal.
In the days before gps half that stuff wouldn’t exist and rods and all that would be super cheap. If your saying technology came as far as it is today and gps wasn’t invented then he would have more money in gear but panoptics would surely not have been invented still
Surprised you didn't use the underwater camera to help, but glad you're safe and got most of your stuff back my man. Good luck on the hard water this season!!

Good vids man. Very impressive to see you get all your equipment back. Glad your safe. The ones we love we fight for, even if we have to swallow our pride. Stay safe, keep well.
Maybe attach some sort of float, like a plastic bottle, to the sled by connecting it to the corners with rope. When not in use, tuck it off to the side, but if this happens again, the float will rise and it should be easy to hook onto and pull all the gear up with the sled. Just a thought for sketchy ice.
I keep comming back here ever cople days sence you put this up. Was woundering how you are and if your stuff works or not sence you recovered it. Looking forward to more videos. You are one lucky Pup!! Not because you retrieved most of your gear back (that's why you buy insurance) but because it wasn't a couple degrees cooler and you could have FROZE to DEATH!!! Your friends below have excellent comments, like Jay Siemens can dive, ask him to come help, and NO fish is worth your life. When the ice was as sketchy as it was close to shore,...Stay Off IT!!! I'm going to assume that the lesson has been learned. Please stay safe, Aaron. Tight Lines, young man.
Glad you made it out of there and was able to retrieve a lot of your gear. My son dropped a hammer into an ice hole probably 13 feet down off of a dock. I hate losing stuff, so we bought a magnet, and went back a few days later and retrieved. It felt good to get it back, even though it wasn't a huge deal.
A few years ago I walked out to the middle of a lake all by myself on sketchy ice. On the way back the ice was cracking all over the place unless I walked real slow. No way lmao I love that you posted
Thanks for posting this , it really will remind people that ice safety is no joke . 4 inches of hard ice to walk on, 12inches to drive on, 20 inches for big 4x4 . Early and late ice eats vehicles and drowns people every year .
As usual Aaron is lucky as hell. The bucket didn’t tip
you mean lucky as hell that he didnt die.
Sooo happy you have took the Per cautions over the years so you were ready in the moment to help yourself and make it out alive
Thumbnail got me like - " The Kang has died?" must watcher
The Legend has uploaded again
Nice Work, Brew. I’ve retrieved some stuff from that depth before as well & it made me very happy to’ve gotten nearly everything back. I pulled up a 12v marine batt with 20lb braid on a Shimano Calcutta 250C on an All-Star Med Action rod, then recovered 2 rods. I let a few items be, but got the irreplaceable items (dad’s old Abu 5500Cs) within 20 mins. I also scored a drag chain & an anchor that weren’t mine. So, I get it. Nice Work, Pal.
the wonders of GPS without that davy jones would be fishing with your gear
but if we didn't have gps then he most likely wouldn't have half of that gear. woulda been out about 40 bucks at most haha.
In the days before gps half that stuff wouldn’t exist and rods and all that would be super cheap. If your saying technology came as far as it is today and gps wasn’t invented then he would have more money in gear but panoptics would surely not have been invented still
we are all here for you man!!! glad you're okay and got all of your stuff back!
This is like when Steve Rinella caught Trichinosis.
Remember that
So glad you're still here to make this video and remind us all to stay safe out there. Great work.
Glad you're ok. You're gonna need a lot of rice home-boy! $tay safe big dog.
Surprised you didn't use the underwater camera to help, but glad you're safe and got most of your stuff back my man. Good luck on the hard water this season!!
I was forced to watch a 15 second State Farm commercial before watching this video 💀
Not only Aaron is amazing at fishing, he’s amazing at catching lost items as well! This is why I love uncut angling!
I threw up a little when you said "....my Livescope, ..."
Even when you don't mean to, you create the most interesting ice fishing videos out there. Glad you're safe and got most of your stuff back. Looking forward to future videos and keep up the great work!
Imagine you go jigging for crappie but pull a live scope instead
Dude. Glad you're okay. We lost one of our awesome fishing youtubers in Ontario a couple years ago. Not ice fishing, but a fishing accident. Be safe out there. Love your stuff. RIP Big Fish Small Camera
I could not stop laughing when in the midst of all this shyte - your still wondering if dinner could be had? Hilarious
Aaron idk if we could handle losing you. 2020 has been rough and I have been patiently waiting for some ice vids. Plz be safe. Glad your in one peace
Wow lots of uploading this is great
So glad you are safe and made it out. Much respect, have a great ice season from here on out
When the next video coming out
Dude... so glad you go through the ice on a yearly basis to practice... great job getting what you can back and staying alive bro!!
Fish out of a canoe, even if you fall through your boat won't sink
That's a good idea, or a flat bottom Jon boat it would be easier on the ice
Funny enough, and you may already know this, he has one of those: a video ice fishing out of a canoe. Or am I thinking of Peric?
@@backyardjuggler I think this is the one: th-cam.com/video/dHoh0vBcz6w/w-d-xo.html
Or a kayak
Good vids man. Very impressive to see you get all your equipment back.
Glad your safe. The ones we love we fight for, even if we have to swallow our pride. Stay safe, keep well.
Maybe attach some sort of float, like a plastic bottle, to the sled by connecting it to the corners with rope. When not in use, tuck it off to the side, but if this happens again, the float will rise and it should be easy to hook onto and pull all the gear up with the sled. Just a thought for sketchy ice.
Glad you’re alright scary to see this pop up on the home page! Have a safe rest of the season and good luck fishin!
I keep comming back here ever cople days sence you put this up. Was woundering how you are and if your stuff works or not sence you recovered it. Looking forward to more videos. I did not know sight fishing was a think until I stumbled on your channel last year. Would love to try that some time. But I believe the water is to dirty where I normally go. Again hope your doing well.
Awesome video!!!! You knew it was dangerous, That little voice was screaming but you went for it anyway! My man!!! Made for a great retrieval video. As we get older we listen to the little voice more than in our youth. Something called wisdom. Great work.
Stay safe man! We need you around brother!
ive fallen through about 10 times in my life and it never gets easier. im so happy you alive and well. you mentioned you were going through some stuff and tunnel vision doesnt help with caution thats for sure
Yeah, be safe dude. You were giving me anxiety walking out on that ice like that. Hope everything is going alright. You are an awesome dude and no one fishes like you, keep up the good work!
Longtime fan and devoted follower of uncut angling. My oldest daughter and I watch every video. Please stay safe Aaron, no video content is worth your life.
That's an impressive recovery dude! At first, I though you were going to put on a wet suit and scuba gear, but the treble hooks were effective.
I really enjoy your channel. I think you’re one of the smartest fisherman I’ve seen. Please be as smart with your safety as you are with your fishing skills. I am glad you were not seriously injured. Praying for your continued safety while making these awesome videos. Thank you.
More then anything it’s amazing you’re safe! Gear can be replaced but you sir can not. We love your energy to get out on first ice but please don’t risk your safety for our needs to see more videos. We will always watch you live your life and catch great fish! Stay safe!!
Wow! Glad you are OK and impressed that you problem solved the way you did with the drone marking of the location and subsequent retrieval of gear.
Incredible how you identified the location via GPS and imaging technology and retrieved it. Fascinating to watch. Thank goodness you got out okay.
#19 on trending, wow! Glad you're safe, that was dangerous... And, I'm amazed at the fact that you were able to get all that stuff back!... Never cease to impress.
Damn brother please be safe out there. All the equipment can be replaced. No price tag on you buddy. Take care 👍
You can always replace gear, But the world can never replace Aaron Wiebe!!! Love you man glad you made it out alive! 💙
What a phenomenal recovery!!! Happy your safe!! Makes me think twice to rush out there!
WOW YOU CRAZY! Glad you're ok. Also very sorry to see everything soaked. This episode has me hooked. I want to see what works on the next episode.
One of the most unique fishing videos I've seen. Rivetting stuff rooting for your stuff Aaron.
A few years ago I walked out to the middle of a lake all by myself on sketchy ice. On the way back the ice was cracking all over the place unless I walked real slow. Never again, I told myself, would I walk out alone on a lake that's more than chest deep! Glad you made it out ok, no fish is worth your life!
Hope things get better, we're rooting for you!
Dude, never been this happy watchin a "fishing" video! I'm so glad you are alive and got your stuff back!
You’ve been my favorite angler for a long time. I’m so happy to see you made it out, man!
Unbelievable man! :( Glad you are safe and okay. Hope your gear still works. Be careful and stay safe out there!
