Like 28! Hi Tobias, nice filter! Those are the best filters! Glad to hear you used that lava rock that I always preach about! Lol! That’s the best stuff to build beneficial bacteria! Glad to hear it didn’t cost that much too! I think your pond will appreciate a nice big filter like that! Great filter and video! Hope you have a great rest of the week my dear friend! Take care, happy fish keeping and God bless! Animal Papa and Junior! 😎🐠❤️👍🙏
Price goos up fast right... but for that volume of biologic filtration there is no dought in my mind that I wouldn't do it! You did a great job buddy. And wow 8k subs, congrats man!
I had to add some water a few days ago, so I pumped in water from the pond. I was getting a slight ammonia reading in my pond, about .25~.50 so I guess they got some of that. I guess also my tap water has ammonia, around 1.0 ppm. Whether it's enough for them, I'm not sure
How's the water quality improving? The thumbnail looks clearer than before. My pond is covered with plants and I'm having some string algae issues too.. possibly to many fishes..
I think it is getting a bit more clear. I'm getting less blanket algae. Last week I checked my parameters and the only thing was that I was getting a slight ammonia reading, like .25~.50 which was a little weird, but I'm keeping an eye on things
@@TobiasHolenstein could be the algae being processed I know when I added my filter the water cleared up and then I had bubbles which indicates a high protein load and then that went away as the bacteria worked on it..now like you I have some string algae even though I have about 85% coverage with plants.. also I tried some hydrogen peroxide which is supposed to kill string algae and safe for fish 1/4 cup to a 100gal...worked not so great though..
@@clint4004 Oh ok, yeah I didn't think about the algae being processed. I removed quite a bit of the string algae/blanket algae by hand and luckily not too much of it has grown back yet. Now that you mention it, I did get some bubbles, but now I'm not getting any. I figured I'd give it a few months to really get cycled and see what happens
I think you should place the inflow/outflow further away from your current filter so that the pond can be filtered more evenly. And is it worth doing this diy instead of just buying a new filter? For that price I think you can buy a new pond filter.
I see what you mean, like maybe have the trash can on the short end of the pond? (next to the fake heron). and yeah I guess it depends on the person. Some people may be willing to pay more just to get a new finished pond filter instead of doing all this. Although, a few people have pointed out to me that for the size of the trash can filter, it's a pretty good price.
Yes, I mean if you have 2 filters, then the 2nd one should be placed as far away as the 1st one as possible to get more evenly distributed filtration, instead of having 2 filters in the same location. I guess if you are willing or want to diy, with the knowledge and correct tools already, then maybe worth a try, but to me if the price is similar, then I would just buy one instead.
I wish I had seen this video before. Today, I went to buy most of what you have to build one myself. Is it worth it??? I hope you can reply to my comment before tomorrow 🙂
@Tobias Holenstein Thanks for replying. After I watched your video, I noticed you had newer videos. I'm making one for my 125-gallon turtle pond. Do you think I need to build the new version or the old version? Thank you again.
For the size of this filter, yeah it was cheaper and I do want to make an in ground pond. I'm not exactly sure when I'll be doing it, but it's something that I definitely want to do
@@TobiasHolenstein I have thought of a small pond for white clouds mollies and guppies..it's down to if my neighbor has a fence put up..so we only need to fence in the side of our garden.. I'm cheap...😁😁😁😁😁

I love your simple and easy to understand videos. I love your personality. Just found your videos and will watch more!
Thank you so much Carrie! I appreciate it 🙌
Love your videos.
Thanks so much Deron! I appreciate it 🙌
Great Project 🐟🐟🐟 waiting for the mini pond 😁#AquaMigos
Thanks Joshua! Mini pond coming soon! 😄

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. For the size I don't think it's too bad, and thank you man! 🙌 🙏
Let’s go I love wakeing up to a new vid
Thanks Frank!!! Let's goooo!
Bro Tobias, the trash can filter is working. The pond looks very healthy and clear
Thanks so much dude! I'm glad that you can see a difference 😄 It's hard for me to tell since I see it every day haha
That quarantine might be killing the plants. What water are you using? Are there nutriends in there?

I am a bit surprised for the cost of the trash can filter, I don't know, maybe the prices varies creatly between us :)
Before I started I thought it was going to cost less haha
@@TobiasHolenstein Haha yeah :P Super cool build anyway man!

@@TobiasHolenstein you welcome bro!
Especially the cost of the trash can itself . That's a bit steep for the price .

@@carbrickscity Yeah that's not a bad idea, if I get some more pond tubing I could easily put the waterfall farther away from the trashcan
Oh btw just wondering what is you main mic
So for my camera the main mic I use it the Comica CVM-V30 Lite, but the main condenser mic I use to record to my computer is the Audio Technica AT4040

Hi. Yes totally worth it! I actually made a new and improved trash can filter which is like 2 trash cans combined and it works even better

Was it still cheaper than buying something ready made..are you at some point making an in ground pond ..I don’t have the room here really
