I've been playing bass for 47 years now, and I enjoy Ellen and her Dad's videos so much. I started playing at 17 and Ellen already plays rings around anything I could do at 17. This beautiful little girl has a very bright musical future ahead of her. Her Dad, who is an excellent musician in his own right, is guiding her beautifully every step of the way.

The soldering on the pot wiring is a bit iffy on the Glarry and the frets could use a bit of work, but otherwise, it's a coin flip.

Thanks for the fun and informative video! I loved the envelope filter in the demo!
Do you ever play fretless bass?

Yes, practicing it slowly to get used to it.

@@EllenPlaysBass Nice! I look forward to seeing that sometime in the future!
Fretless acoustic upright bass might be fun in the future as well. I've seen very young people in bluegrass music bands using stepstools to enable them to play those.

Great overview Hovak, and demonstration Ellen! Definitely a good starter for a child, and the price is reasonable! On edit, I just re watched her doing the demo again, and the size of that bass seems to be exceptionally comfortable for Ellen's personal playing style!

At just $110, Glarry is going to sell a thousand of these little basses solely on the basis of this one review. You folks had better hire some more craftspeople - especially a really great bass tech like Derek Jones - and while you're at it buy a bunch of really amazing wood planks as well! Ellen and Hovak will be coming back very soon for another, somewhat larger bass, and they're going to ask for something really special!
Meanwhile, Ellen's playing just gets better and better. I can't wait to see what she's playing and who she's playing beside, 10 years from now! 😎

I've seen a couple channels review Glarry 6 string electric guitars and they were relatively pleased with the value.. Of course, set ups were necessary on all with a few tweaks on frets here and there. Good starting instruments or a less expensive backup to have on hand.

I’m 70 and my gingers don’t like to do they are told to do.
I purchased one of these little gems, and was blow away by its qualities.
    No sharp frets.
And the nicest setup on a bass guitar purchased new, to date.
    Thank you for presenting this.
Ellen you are an inspiration to all young ladies.
    I can actually play this.
    Disobedient fingers not withstanding

I began playing bass in 2011 with a praise band. My bass was owned by the chapel and recently bought my own. It was this exact same bass. I paid $115 for it and set it up myself. For the price, you can't go wrong. Now I am back on my regular practice and getting my licks back. Keep playing kid. You got great chops and kudos to you dad for supporting her passion for this instrument!

What a great dad and what a great little legend you are, Ellen (I dittoed this from Rusty Keys down below. I'm new to your channel and this like the 4th video I've seen and have commented on them as well. If I have my facts straight, apparently this little lady admired her Dad''s gift so much that she followed into his footsteps, What a wonder thing for a child and parent. Mohini Dey did the same and WOW, look at her. I know you are so proud of her and so are we, but just wait as she grow into womanhood and more advance skillset. You and us will be grinning from ear to ear. I am already blown away by her skillset. Nice job guys.
