If you are not familiar with the whole story, stick around for a nice twist near the end of the video.

Chisora Is a genuine dude. Back in 2004 he was an amature (im assuming, he may have been a novice pro) who clearly hadn't been boxing for long. He walked into my gym Stonebridge running his mouth making all this noise before sparring, he got in the ring with a pro cruiserweight and got put on his ass, bc he couldn't see the straight left from the southpaw. He kept getting clipped and put down, it got so bad they had to stop the session. I felt bad for him because it doesn't feel good getting beat up to the point they have to stop or adjust the sparring. A few weeks later I'm on the bus, I think in Finchley or Kilburn and he sees me towards the back, he walks all the way to the back to shake my hand and say hello. I was surprised because I didnt think he'd remember me as the gym was busy and I didn't even spar. When I saw him making waves and getting to face klit I was really happy for him (although I didn't agree with his antics) because he must of had to work really really hard to make it considering his lack of natural gifts. Now he's a millionaire and made a name for himself after taking many lessons in the ring in sparring to build himself into a competent professional. If Del Boy sees this I hope he knows we appreciate and respect his hard work. 🙏

A Cruiser he was great. And he was good against journeymen heavyweights. Some of his movement, punches and stance reminded me of a slower version of Roy Jones...left arm dangling, pot shotting right straights, sweeping left hook. Fair play to him gunning for a title and especially against Valuev who is tough to hit clean, but against any other top heavyweight he didn't stand much chance. No doubt brought some excitement back to the division though.

After his fights you never ask yourself why didn’t Chisora do this or do that because he answers all questions in the fight itself, whether he comes up short or not against a superior or inferior fighter/boxer. When you have that amount of power and core strength your hands take an absolute battering. They say breaks heal back stronger, but that's not always the case, especially after 3-4 breaks. You end up walking into a fight knowing that if you throw 100% rights, by the end of even just a single round, you're gonna have broken hands. It's very tough to cope with that, mentally and physically. Wilder knows, Haye knows. Just the luck of the draw, genetics wise. Calzaghe managed to overcome his chronic hand breaks with work output and accuracy. Joe suffered broken hands pretty much every single fight post Thornberry.

So if it did come to a fight, I'd have to be extra savage and get it done fast, because my hand isn't going to hold out. I even started working on my left.

@@ryanwellington7493 I've haven't ever been concerned with myself. When I was young I stayed away from trouble, and when it came I always seemed to do well. Then I was a stonemason for 4 years and in that time, I got strong enough and fit enough to never really fear any trouble coming my way. Never looked for it, but people saw what was in me, how I acted and held myself, and they stayed away. But when you have kids it's different. You suddenly go into a different mode where you know your life is totally done and you dedicate the rest of it to their protection. A handful of times over the years, maybe an aggro drunk guy on a bus, a nasty gobshite at the cinema one time, or gangs of youths numerous times throwing rocks and tiles and then they (accidentally) run around the corner into my girls and I, you immediately go into fight mode. Luckily it never came to blows on any of those occasions. But in the back of my mind, even though I know I'd kill them all, I also know that the minute I throw a right with full power and it connects my hand is gone for another 6-12 months. It's not a good feeling. Like you said, you feel disabled, because you ARE disabled. In a few years they will be grown up and I gave them enough sense that hopefully they stay well for themselves, and I can relax and have a drink! XD
      Best of luck.

Haye's style was great for similar-sized or slightly taller opponents. He could use reactions to dodge and then hit them. When he fought much bigger guys like Klitschko and Valuev he struggled because their size meant that by the time he had dodged they took one step back and they were out of range. Haye vs a 6'3 Wlad would have been a different story but unfortunately for him, you don't get to pick your opponent's size in the HWs.
Haye's victory looks that much better when you think of an older Chisora giving trouble to many top guys and how much better he looked than Fury.
Fury's fairly good skill set with a huge size advantage means he would have beaten Haye at their peaks but by points.
I have Haye beating Whyte on points, AJ with a KO and Wilder by KO who despite being massive and a hitter is also shit. I think Haye vs Usyk is a good fight and one which would be a 50/50 at Cruiser or HW.
Listening to Bellew reminds me of those 2 fights they had. One for money and 1 to redeem himself. Should never have taken either fight against a guy who couldn't carry his bag at any weight until he was riddled with injuries.

As entertaining Chisoras shenanigans antics were, Vitali fought with an injured shoulder for most of the fight. Watch the full fight, see how Vitali countered him in the first 4 rounds and then had to fight mostly with one arm. Had it continued like the first couple of rounds Del Boy would have been knocked out. As for Haye, I think he was just too small for a heavyweight of this time. He could beat flatfoot Valuev, but all the really good big guys like Lennox, the Klitschkos, Fury or AJ would have beaten him easily except for a night with a lucky punch. At cruiserweight he was magnificent though. That speed, that killer instinct. Against Del Boy, well as I said, his claim to fame at that point was making it 12 rounds against injured Vitali. He was tailor made for Haye in a way to show he's still a contender. Not to take anything away from Del Boy but he did lose almost all fights against the top fighters. Happy for him that he retired with a big win over Pulev though.
