  • I love this mic but it's got crackly and weird recently (I guess it is 20 years old!). I found a cheap capsule replacement and I'll see if it makes it any better.

I think Mr Carlson's Lab has shown old paper caps (and/or resistors) that produce that sort of crackly distortion on his old valve radio renovations - as a reason why he (almost) always re-caps anything he opens. The electrolytics have the same spiral construction - so maybe they suffer from the same intermittent breakdown as they deteriorate. Even if they appear close to the correct capacitance - they can still have internal problems. Hopefully, swapping them out will fix the issue.

@@seblee so did you try this? Problem solved? My Nt2 too sometimes makes similar noises. By the way imo its stock capsule is great i wouldn't change it.

    Thanks for posting this video.
A few years ago I put in a beezneez m7 and am not sure if I wired it correctly, lol.. it's a bit on the noisy side and quiet.
I was searching through your video, in hope that you may mention what wire goes where... Fingers crossed

Ohhhh well I think it’s probably just the caps in mine but if you do get rid of your old one I’ll take it 🤩

Can it be a grounding problem ? You can check it with multi-meter.

I have a similar issue with a Studio Projects mic. Have you managed to figure out what the problem was with yours? Thanks!
