The game was a blast. Although I never played the original, I’ve got to say it was a joy to experience it in this way. So much fun, and very challenging.

Love the art direction they went for. Looks absolutely beautiful.
I was going to pass on this game, I really was. I absolutely loved the original (it is my favorite in the Zelda franchise), and I didn’t want to tarnish my memories of it by playing a remake that wasn’t up to par, but this review really opened my eyes and made me see it in a different way. What an amazing review and an amazing game!
To IGN: Joe's has risen the bar for reviews on your TH-cam channel and website, undoubtely he is by far a breath of fresh air in every mili second of his review from what's the norm out there!!!

They did make a top-down 2D demo during development to test out mechanics

This guy has literally brought reviewing a game to a new level, enjoyed every minute of it IGN I am shocked.
IGN have this guy review games for now on and I guarantee you will have a fan base again as long as he does a great job like he did with this game so make sure he is happy.

And what makes you think this game is any less important than those? There are many people who have been very excited to play this and could care less about those other games you just mentioned.

campkira not necessarily a bad thing for most people, many still play old games over again and wish to do so with modern graphics/features. I played OoT and even Golden Sun all the way thru many times.

3:55 Agreed. It's why I've never been keen on some of the earlier Zelda games, since the dungeons just having you walking around, exploring rooms and fighting enemies. I do however, differ about A Link Between Worlds. I like that finding your way through Koholint is in itself a puzzle, rather than the game just opening all the gates and telling me to go crazy. At least here the dungeons can afford to get more challenging as a result of that linearity.

I normally actively avoid IGN reviews, though this seemed to be one of the first posted, so I gave it a shot, excellent job. Reminds me of the old days of video game reviews. Almost Adam sessler esque.

Never played Links Awakening, I absolutely loved it. I was so surprised about how much depth went into a 1993 game! In some ways it’s better than a Link Between Worlds which is decades newer! So many areas to discover, complex but fun dungeons, great music, and charm all around!
what's the music playing through the intro and most clearly @ 0:41? anything i could listen to independently, or video only?
I do not have the game but I have watched gameplays, once you get all the ocarina songs, is it still possible to get Marin to follow link after completing the challenge or even the entire game?
I just finish the remake, I loved the dx version. I decided to not buy this one, but then it was on sale and I was bored. I did not regret it. I absolutely love the sound Link makes when he runs.

Awesome review! I secret of Mana wasn't so buggy when it was remastered. It kept crashing in the palace of darkness, non-stop and I gave up. Glad another one of my favorite games was remade and so far, I haven't found any bugs in it. At least none that break the game.
