The amount of power you gain by being allowed to walk is monstrous
Just like going to parallel universe in Mario 64. In ABC it's hard af to do but they still do it. When it's allowed... Any elevator is a 4 second portal to the parallel universe.

@@ymfah what would you say is the most exhilarating? For me it was when you showcased the infinite blood echo glitch on living failures, the song you picked was so perfect and at the time I had never seen anyone do a glitch like that in souls as I was very new to the series.
He bumped up the bpm on the metronome which is frankly a genius bit of editing.

There was more tension in that last maliketh zip than in any movie I've watched this year
love how for april fools some chose to make jokes, some chose to live normally, and some even chose to do normal challenge runs. never ymfah, of course he just does countless frame perfect zips to beat elden ring without flasks, grace, healing, incantations, leveling, melina, parries, quests, ranged, rolling, skills sorceries, status effects, sommoning, or torrent. causal ymfah stuff. (being serious i am heavily impressed, even with your track record of glitch use and challenge runs)
Everytime I see his spreadsheet I flashback to his TH-cam guide video which revealed he literally goes insane trying to research every detail for his strats and ALWAYS managws to still fuck up and have to redo everything.
So a simple explanation of why zips even happen is, basically, there is some weird interaction between "walking while blocking" animation transitioning into "stationary not blocking" animation, which, if done with very very precise timing, will give you insane acceleration into the direction you are looking. No one really knows why it happens, I think FromSoft included. That's all I personally know. There are some other factors like your carry weight and maybe something else, I don't really know.
Also he doesn't die from fall damage because all the game cares about is your starting location and ending location, fall distance is irrelevant
Yup, so long as your start point is below your end point, you never take fall damage. And, as long as your start point is only so far above your end point, it also won't result in fall damage, either, until you hit the threshold for damage that quickly leads to death distance.
This truly a metaphysical moment for programmers.

Yeah, seems like it's something that completely trivializes their entire game and is very easy to do, even accidentally. The fact that it's never been patched after this long really does imply that even Fromsoft doesn't know what's happening.
They have no idea, given that they haven't fixed it
@@almond5284 It doesn't. It's really hard to pull off, requires extremely high and consistent framerate, and it's not like people are going do it accidentally with success.

i beat elden ring yesterday.
no fancy run or gimmick, just beat the game normally (it was my first time beating it too), and if it wasnt for ymfah i may never have had any interest in trying soulsborne games (i heard elden ring was relatively easy, so i started there), and now elden ring has me interested in trying some of the others one day (planning on getting ds3 next time i see it on sale).

This glitch is so fun to play around with. I shot from the start area way into caelid. I got stuck on a wall, but a bunch of stuff deloaded and I got a ton of souls from all the enemies that fell to their deaths.
since the speedrun was released I knew you would upload a video about it, it took a while but you did it xD
The zip master himself taught you how to zip. Great stuff
It was a small editing detail, but addition of button press sounds for the key presses was really good

It's just annoying to do, which is why when zips were first discovered a lot of the speedrunning community was torn between allowing zips or not.

Next: how to beat Elden Ring without even installing the game.
Elden ring web browser edition
Potentially doable.
1. Decompile Elden Ring to get its source code.
2. Find an extremely powerful ACE glitch in another game which allows you to write and execute arbitrarily long strings.
3. Use that code to write and execute Elden Ring, from inside an entirely different game.
4. Complete game as normal.
This would almost certainly be TAS only and require an obscenely long process to perfectly write all of the code, but there are enough poorly written games out there that this is definitely possible.
