Hi can I use a brushed motor with out a gearbox or a spur gear on flat ground will it effect the brushed motor

Joe Owen 😃Very well...... I have them in two rigs and haven’t had any issues to this point. The one in the XJ I’ve had apart to inspect and lube and looked fine. Could you recommend a 540 brushless motor with low KV? I need the efficiency of a brushless motor for a solar application. I need low speed and high torque for a large boat that will be heavy. I'd like to attached a 3:1 or 4:1 reduction on a brushless 540 motor that already has low KV. I'm new at this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Steve
WASRT Yeah... Here’s a link to one of my favorite motors. Holmes Hobbies has some of the best motors out there in my opinion. so did you run the gear reduction unit through a transmission or right in a transfer case?

Good tips I installed a 5 to 1 gear reduction on 27 turn not fast but lots of low end control and
So if all I want is max torque would this be better then something like just a straight 55t motor ? I’m wanting to build a 1-2’ tracked vehicle and I’m unsure which way to go. Thanks.
Whats in the Box Thanks for watching I appreciate it. Something like that I would probably just use the 55t that way you would still have some speed. With the gear reduction you would have to use a lower turn motor to get the same speed. If you're wanting to crawl with it only. Then you could use the gear reduction. Hope this helps. 😉👍🏻

Ok, how to calculate the motor rpm after installing the reduction unit? What 3:1 means? Motor`s RPM devided by 3?
Adrean Shimov Yes .... if the motor spins 12000 rpm. The gear reduction it will only spin 4000 rpm when mounted to the motor. Hope this helps 😃👍🏻

Adrean Shimov if you're running brushed motors you want a low Turn number like a15T. If you're using brushless motors you want higher KV number. Just depends on what you wanted to do.👍🏻

@@kingstonrc329 have you tried this with sensored bl motor? I read that you mustn`t use it with brushless motors, but what about the sensored one with lower kv?
