  • In 1967, Vic Moore attended the Long Beach International Karate Championships. During a speed drill challenge, Bruce Lee performs his famous unstoppable punch, One Inch Punch, and Two Finger Pushup. As a World Karate Champion, Vic Moore didn’t think that Bruce Lee was fast enough, he then go on stage to challenge Bruce Lee, eventually to try Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.

@@donstory5097 Yes it didn't look like He could actually hit him from there but still the guy could've stopped Bruce lee's hand before reaching that close to his body. The punch reached a bit more than the distance at which he could block the attack but he wasn't fast enough.
So it seems like Victor would definitely not be fast enough to stop an actual hit if Bruce Lee stood closer.

@@donstory5097 Oh i saw another video of this , Victor said that Bruce lee said he was gonna punch at his chest but he did one at his head after getting two hits blocked, Victor said reading his eye movement and body language helped a lot , also what he said in this video too he said there was so much noise so he glanced for a moment towards the audience and Bruce Lee scored the hit.
There was footage from another angle which shows he did block some hits.
So Bruce Lee scored at first but then Victor figured it out and was able to block those.

Mike is, or maybe I should say, was now, fast like the speed of sound, where as Bruce would be speed of light. Mike would be getting ready to throw a punch, but like thunder, the lightning flash came 15 seconds ahead. He would be wondering why he’s so dizzy all of a sudden. His brain would just realize he’d been hurt 15 seconds after the fact.😂 and then if kicks were allowed, like in UFC. Mike really be taking a nap on the canvas quicker. From my understanding when Bruce Lee actually made it to the screen they asked him to “slow down” because he was to fast for the frame rate to be able to capture what he was actually doing. As a student of philosophy and martial arts in all forms; Bruce Lee’s training methods of being able to “react” are unprecedented. Flexing and using every single muscle available and controlling it requires insane focus and restraint as well as intense strength training that would seem a bit unorthodox to the average gym-goer. Yet, his philosophies are the most practical in everyday application.

What does that have to do with this challenge? The challenge was Vic Moore had to block Bruce’s punch even by touching Bruce’s hand. Vic had to move his hands to defend himself before Bruce could get close to his face with his fist. It was a speed challenge, not meant to represent a real-life situation. But, even if this was in the street, the victim may not be prepared and may have their hands by the sides when suddenly they are attacked.

I cant remember all the details but the opponent had hand marks on his chest before he even got a punch off. Looks to me like Vic Moore submitted to the quickness of Bruce by slumping over. Its definitely body language that conveys defeat. Shame no contact allowed at the time. Vic would've been sitting down after the first strike. Too quick !

Vic Moore is either senile, or a liar. Since this video was posted, Moore has made many more outlandish claims over on Viking Samurai's channel.
He claims he blocked Bruce Lee's strikes, then proceeded to return strikes of his own at Bruce Lee. Moore claims that he landed his strikes and that the crowd was booing Bruce Lee. He also claims that Bruce Lee began to cry after all of this.

Great idea on his part but also he was never a master of any of them, he actually never finished wing chun. Also he was not a Professional fighter and would only fight people behind closed doors and the accounts of what happened in those fights are disputed and conflicting. For that reason he is known for being an actor first regardless of how good or bad he actually was at fighting. Hard to benchmark someone if you have NEVER seen them fight and they have no fight record. For me Bruce is admirable in his thinking and training, NOT his skills as a fighter. @@asithasampath6579 Bruce Lee wasn’t a cage fighter so many MMA fighters may have a good shot in the cage when other techniques are legal and part of the sport. In a pure form martial arts tournament, muy tai vs muy tai no mixed arts allowed for example, Bruce Lee was and still is by modern standards the fastest and no one stood a chance. As far as whether or not the athlete or random individual claiming to be able to win against Bruce, that’s just hear say and speed is probably their current claim to fame in their own personal practice however big or small their ability level is.

I wish he was still among us, the world would be a better place.

you do understand this a parlor trick. One man flat footed- side by side at that. While one man in a combat stance. Not to mention looking straight forward. The eyes can’t detect movement straight forward the way that dipping your head and slightly of to the side can.No to mention Bruce didn’t come close to his face. There was still space to cover. Yet Bruce didn’t cover it! Why??????? To save Vic????? No because it’s a parlor trick. Not to mention it’s a sucker punch that wouldn’t of been successful. All you have to do is look at the distance Bruce would’ve had to cover. The punch was out of Bruce’s power zone. The same technique with Vic in a combat stance gets anyone including Bruce ko’ed. If your looking for a hero- fine. But don’t diminish one the best that ever did it. Vic Moore in old age would wipe the floor with 99.9 of you cheerleaders. Not to mention his students would too. Bruce has no footage of real fights and one tape sparring. Yet you hero worshipers give him more credit than a real champion. Who by the way this champion(Vic) whipped out plenty of men in the streets. Way more than Bruce ever could. As Bruce was a actor. Bruce’s legacy should be that of a teach/philosopher of martial arts. Not as a martial arts master.

His punches look almost a foot away from his face. Simulate trying to block a punch right in front of your face vs a foot away from your face. You're faster blocking closer to your face (which simulates more closely blocking an actual punch) because you're mostly contracting your biceps and pec vs using your frontal delt to reach out. I say if Bruce's hand didn't get at least a few inches from his face, then he successfully blocked it even if he didn't have to touch it.
