That JB sounds sweet, but I’ve bought much cheaper pups from MusicLilly and I gotta say - they compare pretty nicely to the Seymour Duncan’s at 1/8th the price. Love MusicLilly too.
Nice to see a little side work with your buddy Barry's guitars. Real sweet pup on that neck to go with that snappy bridge pup. I like the deep boom of a good humbucker and that SD has it.
I love a good tele single coil neck pickup with the cover that sounds like a telecaster - not a stratocaster. I LOVE the neck pickup in my tele, its ALL tele - no doubt about it. Most telecaster neck pickups are either uninteresting or sound like a strat - I prefer my tele neck pickup to my best strats.
They are currently out of stock on Amazon and new stock and new models will be released and available mid summer so I'm told... They are moving their production to a new facility!

I noted that their JX-20 S-style was less than desirable from you and Mike. I haven't tried one yet. I just got the Bumblebee Racer today. About to dig into it. What happened to Musi, anyway? Are they out of business? I don’t see ANY of their models listed on Amazon anymore-at least not here in the US. That guitar for Barry sounds good! I think 500k would make the humbucker a bit brighter, but I agree that it sounds pretty good even on 250k, and if he’s using it for jazz, he probably won’t mind either way, since jazz players tend to like more round and even tones compared to rockabilly players. Incidentally, Ed Bickert, a GREAT Canadian jazz guitarist, played on a Telecaster, which he later had fitted with a humbucker. He apparently tried a DiMarzio first, but didn’t like it, so his luthier then fitted it with a ‘59, and Ed then liked it.

@@j-man9457 Interesting… I had completely forgotten about Groove Guitars! I guess it’s possible Tease is similar… But Tease is an American company importing guitars from China. Their biggest “feature” is that they claim to do a complete set up for you when you order. Otherwise, according to reviews I’ve seen, they’re pretty basic, no-frills but otherwise very solid instruments. They recently came out with an upgraded Tele model that has SS frets. BTW, I also see that WestCreek now has a JX-50 Superstrat-style guitar with HH pickups, 24 frets and EVH-like stripes. Personally, I’m still waiting for them to have availability on their Tele-like model. 😂

However, their idea of a set up and my idea of a set up are 2 very different things hahaha. A set up by definition means playable out of the box. But playable is far from gig ready! Yeah I hope westcreek will take their time with these newer models and dial them in properly before putting out more models with poor QC! WestCreek reached out to me in regards to my 3 videos on the JX-20. They were very appreciative. They will look at every problem I pointed out and try to improve on all of those QC issues... Time will tell. They are sending me a Tele model and want me to tear it apart as well to point out all of the good and the bad🙂 Also they are sending me a link to their guitars to add in the description of my videos that will give a discount to whomever buys one through that link. One link for US and one for Canada. No I'm not making anything from that haha but at least people will get a small discount. I checked the Canadian link they sent and there is a 30$ off coupon option when purchasing... Pretty cool! They are not trying to hide their flaws and they are not sending dialed in instruments to reviewers so one has to admire that. I like a company who's transparent🙂

Yup I use all Musiclily hardware, their ultra line for upgrading. Super nice stuff.... Never tried their pups though!

Yeah pretty nice indeed... Wondering about a 500k pot though vs the stock 250k🤔
The 500k pot will make it brighter, but an EQ pedal tweak should do the same.

For now yes... But he may go with a stacked bridge and then install a 500k but keep the 250 tone to darken up the pups if needed ....🤔

Yeah that 59 is pretty sweet. I'm not a very refined player as far as nice jazz chords go, but I like the sound and articulation of that pickup😃
