Roy Hall is so straight and to the point in an industry so full of BS. He is so right at just listening for enjoyment. He is also right about women, my wife either likes it or doesn't. I did an experiment with her where I had her sit and listen, and I changed cables. The first set of speaker cables with the same music, she played with her cellphone and looked at her cellphone. The second set of cables she stopped playing with the phone after 30 seconds and she started to move her legs and tap her toes. I then asked her what the difference was, and she said that I don't know what you did before, but if you didn't stop, I was going to leave because the sound made my ears hurt and I don't know why. I then asked her about the second time, and she said, it just sounded good. I have used her ears with USB cables, amps, turntables, and speakers as well and she has always been able to tell the difference. I'm often shocked about how accurate she is without using any Audiophile terms. My wife told me it's time I started getting paid for this nonsense, so I buy her dinner. It sounds crazy since audiophile to her is a JBL Bluetooth speaker box streaming from her I-phone. She says that I have too much stuff, but she acknowledges that I have changed her definition of what good is and she can't stand that boom, boom stuff and she sometimes hate me for that!!!
I’m really impressed with the Music Hall integrated amplifiers! I just purchased the a30.3 integrated amp on EBay. I have the a15.3, and very impressed with the overall dynamics and instrument separation!
Ramah Krishna, I met Roy many years ago in Chicago at the Stereophile show in the late nineties. We bought one of his very early turntables. To celebrate our purchase and great conversation, Roy brought out his famous Scotch to share with us in a toast. After several “toasts”, we visited Paul McGowan at the PS Audio booth next door. If it hadn’t been for the Scotches given to us by Roy, I never would have bought Paul’s newly introduced P300 PowerPlant that I enjoy in my system to this very day. Roy is indeed a true character, as is Paul McGown. Two very different people, but both lovable HiFi pitch men. God bless them for what they have given us in the world of HiFi. BTW, I also have Roy’s MMF 7.3. It is a marvelous table. I replaced the Ortofon Bronze cart with a Nagaoka MP-200. A fantastic upgrade from the Bronze. Cheers!
@@philrob4468 no, I've had many many tables. I used to own the very first mmf-7....no dash this or that, the very first one and I loved it...however I sold it years ago. I just remember how unfussy and how quiet it seemed, plus the Goldring Erica h was a great cartridge on it. So, I saw that they put it out in walnut, as I was never a huge fan of black (to much dust). I ended up recently buying it again in the walnut and I think It looks great and sounds great. I too was undecided on 7.3 or 9.3. The 9.3 is the better table with 3 plinths, thicker platter, better inverted ceramic bearing, and slightly better cartridge, but it is almost a grand more.
he could become honorary citizen in any Italian city thanks to that remark. Ridiculing cream on carbonara and pineapple on pizza is what unites Italians, when it comes to food.
i really like to hear to cd players and not so much turntables, vynil records always have french fries noise and it´s a freaking pain to put records and pulling the arm .... not to mension those new minimalistic horrible designs. they use techonogy from the past and still want to make believe it´s better lol another thing digital and analog can have the same quality sound i don´t understand why those idiots always saying vynil is better... it´s obvious those people don´t understand and never gonna will understand this, because they never tested with equipment to measure side by side.
humans have ears not measurement equipments. Please, do you a favor and get a nice turntable, no fries noise, just pure musical bliss. This is not "records vs CDs", it's records AND CDs. I prefer records for rock, blues and EDM and CDs for classical. What's the problem?
Really ? So why the heck you guys always defending turntables ? Is this me or is it some influence from some few guys who is trying to change the rules of hearing good quality music ? There’s no problem I am just tired of listening to same bullshit turntables and I do have a good turntable too

Roy is a treasure! Loving my mmf-7.3 in walnut.
I'm sitting here thinking 7.3 or 9.3 I can't make up my mind. Is it your first table? What ya like about it

Excellent 3 part interview with Roy. What a down to earth great guy.
Thanks for bringing that to us!
Ive watched so many audiophiles clips..Roy sums it up in a nut shell..great speakers want you to listen to music like a great meal..
Fuck, I love Roy's honesty!
Great interview.. thanks
I have an mmf-2.2, and despite two cartridge-related misadventures and an on/off switch failure, t’s still going strong after five years.
hell yeah! I like Roy Hall - says what he means, means what he says!
Fantastic interview! So real and so right on topic! Heck, he should join up with Schitt Audio!🤔🤓🤯🤪😎😇
I love hawai pizza. And foodrockers in Frankfurt has one of the best you will ever get.
Although I disagree about pineapple on pizza, I like this Roy Hall guy.

Some song are only meant to be listen with vinyl. To be bad, is part of the experience.
The Chinese guy is thinking, how can we make this cheaper in China !
The shop in background? where is this shop
Insults Rega, Creek, the Interviewer and me. (I like pineapple on pizza, of course) F.O.
what is the table right behind roy?
“We have thousands of CDs” and “I’m not a big fan of CDs”. Which is it haha?
