Crane, you could never grow Zinnias again & your channel would still be my absolute favorite. I’m sorry that your plans for a video about zinnias from seed to bouquet has been postponed, but rest assured your viewers are here for YOU! You brighten our days. ☀️ Losing our plant babies is hard, but gratitude & pouring love elsewhere really does help

Dear Crane! Thank you for your beautiful and emotional words today. I think we gardeners can all appreciate what you are and do go through. We feel a strong sense of responsibility to protect the lives of our plants. It reminds me of a quote...
"Making a garden is not a gentle hobby for the elderly, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole, and once it has done so, he will have to accept that his life is going to be radically changed."--May Sarton, Plant Dreaming Deep, 1968

Crane, you are not perfect, yet you choose to share and be vulnerable with your flower friends. Your honesty and sincerity are such heartwarming gifts. You are perfectly imperfect and we adore this about you! Your kindness and gentle nature help to soothe and bring peace after stressful work days. We look forward each week to breathtakingly beautiful masterpieces of floral art in your bouquets and gardens, too! Thank you for reminding us to stop and notice all of the beauty and little sparkles and twinkles hidden in plain view. Crane thank you so much for making these beautiful videos! I love your garden and channel. It always cheer me up. I am so happy I found you! I struggled with my Floret Zinnias, too. I killed most of them. I think I have 4 left. I discovered that they don’t like to be watered too much. Once I stopped watering them. They bounced back. Zinnias grow so fast you should try again. I am in my second batch. Fingers crossed I will have some before the of the season.

Your words are beautiful, Crane. You 100% have been chosen by the previous owner to take on the garden she cared for all these years. She is so grateful. And the fact you can do what you’re passionate of on a daily basis and you can call this place your home is a huge blessing. You’re surrounded by so much love and support from your family and your community and that’s so beautiful. Your feelings are always valid and it is good that you can express them and share when things don’t go as planned. You’re definitely not alone; I can completely relate! I sometimes have to remind myself that not everything is meant to work perfectly when gardening, and that is ok😊 it’s easy to immediately put the blame on ourselves but believe me it is nobody’s fault. This just means there’s a fun new opportunity to replace the zinnias with other ones, or perhaps try different flowers in that area. You got this! 😉

I know that it hurts not to see the zinnias flourish right now but please know that your other flowers and your garden is so amazing, beautiful, healthy, chic and classy!!! Thank you for the inspiration and transparency!!! God bless you in your gardening and much joy and success to you!!! ❤❤❤

    You are not alone.
Your honesty, sharing your challenges and successes are such a comfort and joy!
I’m very new to gardening, cut flower growing and floristry and I’m treating every single stem that grows as a success. Every ‘plant seedling / baby’ that doesn’t make it as part of this beautiful and challenging journey.
As someone who needs to feel in control of everything, I’m learning to embrace the unpredictability - so celebrate 🥳 the gardening ‘wins’ and just 🤷‍♀️ shrug off the inevitable ‘failures’.

Hi Crane! I'm rewatching old videos of yours, dreaming of when I can get back to myself in my garden. I broke my wrist a couple weeks ago and have been feeling really down because, just like you, I live for the gardening season and am so sad that I feel like I'm missing out. Crane, I watch a lot of gardening videos and you’re one of my favorites. I’ve had that happen to my zinnias before and found out it was because I planted them out too early. Zinnias need very warm soil temperatures, so I always plant them out a few weeks later than everything else. I believe a soil temp of 60 degrees is needed. I hope that helps.

Dear Crane. Thank you for sharing with us the beauty of your garden and the beauty of your soul. We all go through some battles and disappointments in life( I wish losing zinnias was our biggest problem). This morning I was thinking of my mother who passed away 5 years ago, the cosy house and garden full of flours that now exist only in my memories. I am close to be deprived of the garden I invested my soul in and enjoy now due to family situation. But this morning I got up and prepared soil and planted new zinnias, sedums, delphiniums, aquilegias, calendulas, salvias, sunflowers….Because we live today and hope for tomorrow☀️🌷🌺🍀

The colours you have in your garden make the most beautiful bouquets. Keep up the good work. Every season, I lose seedlings or the seed doesn't sprout. I never give up. I resstar more seed and go with what grows well.

Before I sat down to watch, I had the thought of how fortunate I am, not only have I been in my garden all afternoon, clearing away the winter debris, but to be able to sit down and watch your pure joy of growing dreamy coloured/textured flowers, and to gather them up in such wonderful bouquets. You are an inspiration to this fairly new gardener. I am sorry to hear about your huge disappointment. Sometimes there is no good explanation. But I sowed more and started over and they were beautiful late into the season when nothing else in my garden was blooming! Silver lining. You are great!

You have such a beautiful soul. I deeply appreciate your sincerity and joy that you share. I empathize with you when you share how sad you feel about the Floret Zinnias, because of the excitement I feel in planting them and looking forward to watching them grow. Your resiliency in still being able to notice the beauty you cultivate and nurture in your gardens is inspiring. This season, I'm planting the farm with some amount of trepidation because last year we were hailed out and this year seems to be the same weather pattern. After being hailed out last year, I discovered a quote that encouraged me to continue doing what I love- "Never the less, she persisted." This video is a reminder to me to continue forward. Thank you so much!

I understand you so much, when you are talking about the former owner of your garden and your connection, although you never met her! When I bought my farm last year and started, I felt (and still feel) exactly the same about the former owners, who also passed away before the farm was sold. I also never met her, but Elly is always in my mind, when I'm entering the private garden of the farm (as Peter-Jørn is, when I'm selling our chickens eggs or veggies). In the whole community she was known for her beautiful garden and actually her garden saved my bud last year, when I had to get used to the wet danish climate and some of my crops failed completely. I'm also very sentimental about that connection and it helps me (again!) a lot, not to feel alone with those thoughts! Thank you for sharing this with us!!! 💖 Concerning the zinnias: I'm no plant doctor, but to me your zinnias look as they would have some fungal disease (maybe assisted by some tiny slug baby). I would give some of them a try and water them really rare and not from above. Treat them like roses, I think thats more what they would like. I also always struggle with zinnias here in our cold, wet climate. Once my roses were full with mildew and as I'm farming organically, I didn't know what to do. On a website I found the advice to use some normal milk in water mixture to spray on them and as they were so horribly infected, I tried it out. It really worked out so well! I used it twice and they recovered nearly completely. The new growth was completely healthy and I was able to use them during summer and autumn. I don't know if the bacteria in the milk would also help in the case of your zinnias, but for mildew it helped really well. Have a wonderful weekend you both and greetings from denmark!!! 🤗🌻💕🌸🌼

Your garden is always beautiful just like your spirit! 💚 Alexandra from The Middle Sized Garden says "Gardenders learn through trowel and error." 😉 It's so true! I fail at some plant every year and it gets me down but I try and think of it as a learning experience. I felt much better about killing plants after a Floret vide where Erin said she'd killed hundred of plants. Good job at seeing the sunshine in the grey moments. Also look at how well your gorgeous sweet peas are. 😍

Hi Crane, sorry about the zinnias… As Monte Don said : u are not a gardener if u have not killed any plants ! Of course it’s upsetting .But it’s not too late to sow outdoor , right ? We are not perfect, we are just doing as best as we can. Ur garden is beautiful ( I wish that my garden looks as good as yours ). U have so many garden friends, they are here for you… Love ur bouquets. ❤️

Darn Crane zinnias did not make it! It is early to sow some but this is just a chance to grow somethin new , try a new annual . Only you knew what the video or how it might end now write a different ending or start a new beginning to a new video? 🤔we give our plants 150%of our care. I’ve lost lots of plants never easy but I learn from all the losses which are fewer than my successes. Seeing your videos is such a bright moment for me it lifts my spirit! You are caregiving of that property with such love . It would bring me joy to think someone might love my garden when I’m gone. Till we meet stay positive you do see all the beauty around you rest well Crane happy dreams❤️

You really inspire me. Gardening has so many ups and downs. I planted some forget me nots that never even came up, but I have so many zinnias and wild flowers growing. Plus I live in zone 9b lol which it’s hard to grow with our strong sun. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Crane you touch my heart. Thank you! Sorry for your bad day... we all have them! Plant more zinnia seeds somewhere else it is still early. I planted a magnolia tree and a weeping cherry tree that both are dying! Got both at the same nursery so not sure why? Look forward to seeing your new crop of Zinnias!

Dear Crane, Greetings once again from Singapore. You’re a nice guy & I envy you for having such a nice home & garden. All the flowers we have here are imported & they are expensive. I 0:15 love your floral arrangements too. Keep doing what you enjoy & I look forward to your videos. Cheers!❤️

I found your channel because of your previous zinnia videos and I learned a lot from them!!! You obviously were doing an excellent job with your zinnias garden the previous years, so you might want to consider if this year it's not your fault that your zinnias are not succeeding but maybe the seeds. I'd stick to the seed sellers you've tried and tested the previous years and know they work. Especially since all these new fancy ones are sooo much more expensive, as well. No matter what, though, I'm sure you'll still be able to make beautiful and instructive videos for us and I look forward to them 🥰🤗🥰

Crane…I live in southern Mass. Your weather is slightly warmer than mine right now, but nights are still cool for both of us (I’m a weather nerd). I have volunteer Zinnias about the size of yours, growing in several gardens & the same thing happened to them. In my case it was those cool nights last week that did it. My zinnias can take the cold in the fall & have blooms through Nov, but those little guys can’t take it. Your seedlings look like cold damage, I could be wrong though. I’m just planting mine out this wk. I feel bad for you because I know those Floret seeds are pricey & you were so excited about them. Take it as a challenge to get it right next time. Love your channel & you motivate me to do more!

Thank you very much 🙏🏻❤️ I almost cry after reading your comment. Not knowing the cause of the issue causes me so much anxiety because it could be the compost. I was so afraid because I use the same compost in so many spot in my garden. Your explanation makes so much sense that I can eliminate that assumption.. I think that is true for my case too. Jason mentioned that one night that he found his car windshield has some frost on it. I did not mulch my zinnia until recently too. Plus I water them with cold water. Thanks again for your help and emotional support.

Ahhh don’t worry about your Zinnias they are known for being tricky, it’s not too late to sow some more. Have you tried them in paper pots, then plant the pot and all into the soil, as they don’t like root disturbance. They may also have disliked the fluctuating weather. I had an amazing crab apple tree in our garden quite an unusual one, it used to bloom its socks off, then one winter it died, for no obvious reason, I still miss it now a few years later, not sure of the variety as was planted by the previous owners. Stay positive, gardening is for optimists I think 😀🌞. Enjoy your day.

I’m sorry you lost your zinnias Crane. I killed all of my zinnia seedlings last year. Then I decided to just direct sow a packet mid summer and those thrived ! I think sometimes we kill our baby seedlings with too much love ❤️ The heart shaped plant is a caladium. I’ve also seen them called heart of Jesus or Angel wings 🪽 Maybe that’s also a sign from the gardener that lived there before you. Thanks for sharing 💕🌸

Big Hug and go buy some inexpensive zinnia seed at the hardware or garden store and direct sow. You may be surprised and find a flower in the mix that brings you joy. You have so many successes in your garden don’t worry about the one that did not work. We love all your videos no matter what you do. Gardening should not make you sad. Even Laura from gardenanswer has things not work out. 😁 this is truly an opportunity to have something unexpected.

The art and ease of making the bouquets look spectacular on you. In addition to teaching us your knowledge to put it into practice. Thank you so much. It looks too wet for your Zinnias. Try to direct sow them in the ground when you are getting warm sunshine. Mine don’t bloom until late June-July.

You can grow lots of zinnia...just throw your dried flower seed heads when the season is done where you want it to plant ... in spring around last week of April or first week of May you can see little seedlings popping,You can transplant it or leave it like a wild flower....by the way I am in Zone 6B changed to 7. You can try it if it works in your Zone 🙂 ❤
