Absolutely perfect. Just finished replacing both the cv joints on my 14 altima according to Revit. Clear instructions, easy to follow, simple, could not have gone smoother. Well yes it could, I could have bought the right oil filter for the simultaneous oil change.
I got an oil change and tire rotation at a local mechanical place and they told me that both of my cv boots were busted. they said they would change both axles for $800!!!!! $141 for each axle and $480 in labor. i found both axles for $132 total and now i know how to install it. you saved me over $650. thank you so much. definitely deserves a subscribe and a like. youre the bomb!

So I got an estimate of about $670 bucks to change both axles. I went online and found a pair for a real decent price with a 10 year warranty. I watched your videos and BAM!. You saved me $500 bucks in labor. Thanks a bunch for the videos. I also feel a great sense of accomplishment.
Okay follow up question. Now I am seeing a transmission fluid leak. I checked to make sure it was not coming from the axle which I had just replaced and it is not but seems like it's coming from somewhere in that area. Any thoughts?
dvxman72 clean the area really really well with brake parts cleaner. And use a dye in the transmission fluid. Order a small black light flash light of Amazon and it will tell you exactly where you are leaking !
Okay so turns out I did not need the UV dye. I found the leak was on the passenger side axle. I forgot that axle is longer and comes over toward the driver side so the drip had me fooled. I ordered a new seal. Any tips on replacing the seal?
I watched a bunch of videos on this and this is the first time I seen it done disconnecting the strut. All others disconnected the ball joint. Looks so much EASIER your way. Thanks, i'll be doing it your way next week.
I'm doing the right side axle on my boss's maxima probably this weekend. I wanted to say Thank you for making the video. Also when I found out where you work that was a pleasant surprise Since I live in va and work in md.
Cool! Nice to see a local on TH-cam! If you are doing the passenger side we have a video of that as well. Left and right sides of the car are determined from sitting in the driver seat. So left side is driver right side is passenger. Happy Motoring!
Your tut videos are awesome. Wish everyone did them like that. I had to replace both axles and bearings on my 09 Altima. So thank you and the magic hand very much!
Thanks! This was a huge help. I don't have an impact, so I tried using a ratchet with a 32mm for the wheel nut. A few solid pops with a hammer and it came right off.
Thank you for the video. I was sure it was a simple job but glad you pointed out the seal because i would have just shoved it in and probably shread it lol i hope i got the right parts though.. locating the proper one is a pain in the ass
Glad this video helped! The Passenger side is a lot more frustrating. When you are ordering parts just pay very close attention to the part number. It gets confusing looking for a cvt cv axle ;) Happy Motoring!

Question...how did you diagnose the car needed new axle? I have a 2008 altima and I'm hearing a clicking/creaking noise when I back out of drive way and then drive forward. @revitauto. Thank you
hi my 2010 altima wont go into drive. when it does i her and feel a lot of shaking not sure if its the transmission or the axles.can you please give me any suggestions
No, the axle of your vehicle does not have any effect on the camber. That would be up to the suspension components, like Control Arms. I read this as you were yelling loudly fyi ;)
You only use CVT fluid if you have a CVT (constant velocity transmission). Otherwise you use transmission fluid, heavy weight gear oil for a manual and red ATF for an automatic (check your owner's manual)..
Interesting question. It should not matter if you are installing or removing. What is important is that you have the axle seated correctly and meshed with the splines. What issue are you running into?
@@Revitauto I am still working on removing the axle (removing transmission to replace the clutch). I just wanted to make sure that I should be in Neutral as I didn't want to break anything. Thanks for your reply :)
I used the factory jacking spot where you would jack the car to change the tire. And then placed a jack stand underneath the control where it meets the K-Member/Engine Cradle as that is nice strong metal. If you have your owners manual it should show you where you can jack your car from.
How much transmission oil did you have to add after changing the cv shaft?I don't want to buy a lot of the oil as it is pretty expensive from nissan. Thank You.

What kind of fluid was that that came out when he pulled the old axel out and does that require replacement?
That was CVT transmission fluid, if you have it leaking out you will want to check the transmission fluid before you drive.
I wish no leak oil trans, is it necessary pull the axle out complete to change the boot?
How much fluid goes back into the transmission?
Every video I've watched they always do it from the bottom. Seems much easier to just take the strut bolts out rather than break the ball joint!

You didn't show filling transmission fluid.
I did not! I just updated the description in the video as a walkthrough on how to do that!
To check your transmission fluid level, put your vehicle in park and start the engine and let it idle. If you do not start your engine, you will not get an accurate reading.
Pop open your hood and locate the Transmission Fluid dipstick. It is located in the engine compartment at the front of the engine bay towards the driver side. It will have a small round handle.
Wipe off the transmission fluid from the dipstick and reinsert. Pull the dipstick out and take a reading, if your transmission fluid is too low add transmission fluid slowly and recheck.
Do this until your transmission fluid level is within the marks on the dipstick, and you're done!
