Nice shave Heiko, I think I saw some videos where the T2 after closing the doors you need to turn the TTO almost 2 more turns, that locks the blade. I would confirm it with Rockwell.
@Heiko-shaves If you had to compare the Yaqi's TFC between Yaqi's Stainless Steel Adjustable versions and the Rockwell T2 which would you say is has the closest Blade exposure and Curve between the two?, also nice shave!
I'm asking because I really love Yaqi's TFC but mine came with manufacturerment defect(the inside of the handle has its electroplating coat is scratched really badly to the point of where you can see that raw Zinc which once it gets in contact with water it starts creating a Tarnishing coat which results into the threads for unscrewing and screwing mechanism for the top to get stuck) and Yaqi's support is just playing d*mb with me so I just want to upgrade it to a version that doesn't have those issues and has higher quality but I don't know if i should go with the T2 or Yaqi's Stainless Steel Adjustable Series😟😟
The T2 is the mildest of the three razors but the T2 has a completely different design and the razor head is a bit too bulky for my liking. The Yaqi Ultima is more aggressive compared to the TFC. If I may make a recommendation, get either the Yaqi Ultima Slant or the Ultima Brass. Those two are very pleasant razors.
That was a really interesting and im looking forward to hearing and seeing more about this razor, so your next video is highly anticipated, it would be interesting to know if there is much of a difference between the razor's and also different blades, great video Heiko , cheers mate.
Hi Heiko, could you please try and make a comparison video between the Rockwell T2, Yaqi Ultima Stainless Steel (adjustable) and Yaqi The Final Cut. I'm mainly curious about the how the gap sizes because Rockwell doesn't list it for some reason while Yaqi always has an "Estimate" of how large the gaps would be on each setting
I don't have the Ultima closed comb anymore, it was a bit too aggressive for me even at setting 1. I can only offer you a comparison between the T2 and the Final Cut.
@@Heiko-shaves that's would be great too because i have the final cut, tho if you could i'd love to see you give them also a more technical look for example razor blade exposure(which has a more negative/positive) and the differences between the gaps. honestly it would be a good idea to make a series where you document the physical details of the razors because allot of sellers and manufacturers don't list if their razors are with Positive or Negative(like the Merkur Futur(Aka the potato peeler)) blade exposure and their gap sizes
Thanks for the review. I believe the Rockwell blades are pretty dull, I wonder if the Wilkinson sword makes the razor a bit too aggressive? Looking forward to shave #2 with a sharper blade.
Great review. The T2 was my second razor purchased. My 1st being the AL13 Henson. I went the other way from a Six setting which was way too aggressive down to a two. I'll have to try the one setting next time I shave. I also own the Ti-22 Mild from Henson which is my favorite so far. Great job. I'll have to try the oil, the soap and the balm now. Everyone says it's great.
I bought A Rockwell 6S this month & I like the #4 plate & then the #2 plate the best so far with a Gillette Nacet blade. Which razor do you like the best between the 6S & the T2 ? I wonder how it is going to shave with A different blade. Thanks for the great shaving video!
I have two 6C and the T2. I like the 6C better. Smoother, more efficient on lower settings nicks me less & the 6c is great with endless blades. I’ll put it this way. I bought a 2nd 6C and want to sell my T2 😢
@@Heiko-shaves curious what blade u wind up liking in the T2. I’m going to try a treet falcon in it. The falcon is a stiff rigid blade. It’s been great in the de89 and 6C and geisen so far
Hey Heiko great review, yea I wasn’t a big fan of the T2 and I had both the stainless and their standard model. Shaved ok but I have noticed when you load a blade that it was uneven at times. The blade has too much movement when you clamp it down. I also found it to you point to get up under the nose. I have since sold mine Decent shaver but much more prefer the 6s and 6c on plate 5-6. They are both fantastic razors. Have a great weekend
I only use the T2 on setting 6. I use it for the first pass when taking down a 1 week growth. It serves this purpose well and it doesn't feel too aggressive. Compared to the Mühle R41 I feel cozy and protected. Then for pass 2 and 3 I use the 6s in setting 3. I agree that that's its sweetest setting. Now. I've always thought that there's something wrong with the lower settings of the T2 because I don't feel them safe. But hearing your thoughts, I may have been wrong. Maybe I should just consider the lower settings more aggressive than their counterparts on the 6s. I don't remember ever using setting 1 on the T2, but next time I'll try it. My hunch is that it would feel less efficient than what its aggressiveness would suggest. I'll see.
Heiko this is a good unbiased review. However there is a difference between the T2 and the T2 SS. The SS is a bit milder in that the blade gap is not as pronounced as the T2 regular. I have used Feather blades and the shaves have been comfortable, smooth and efficient. YMMV. My only complaint is the weight of the razor, it is heavy.
That is what I thought. With two different materials and two completely different manufacturing methods it would be slightly different. I will probably not get a chance to compare. I am glad they sent me the regular T2 for review.
Really looking forward to your use of this razor with your goto blade, whe Wilkinson Sword. These Rockwell blades don't get much love in the DE community. I am not sure if that is the cost/value proposition in part or simply about the sharpness/smoothness balance. Glad the T2 is growing on you. Some razors sing, and some don't. I am not sure this "feature" really speaks to the efficiency of the razor. Vintage GEM and Star SE razors tend to sing, as do straight razors. The vintage Gillette adjustables were unique in their design criteria. The Fat Boy was intended to offer a range of efficiency and comfort that spanned all three variants of the Gillette flare tip razors (blue, nickel, and red). This could serve as the ONE razor from high school through to old age for the average man with an average beard. The Slim adjustable followed the same design criteria. The Black Beauty is tuned a little bit higher up the efficiency scale, and can be "overclocked" (dialed beyond it's highest setting). Some who prefer a more efficient razor prefer the Black Beauty to the Fat Boy or Slim. Others prefer to use a Japanese blade (Feather or Kai) in the Fat Boy for a boost in efficiency.
Lovely review. Though I do think you and I have a very different view of what aggressive feels like 😂 I love my T2 and 6C, but not the Rockwell razor blades (very rough feeling) I usually use an Astra Blue, Permasharp or Gillette Wilkinson Sword (India) in my Rockwells and almost never go below a 4 (5 being my favorite lately) and even on a 6 plate I wouldn't put the T2 or 6C in my top 5 of aggressive razors. But that is the joy of this hobby, the difference opinions and experiences 😀 Cheers
I have a 6c that does not have the imperfections you have on your own, so maybe you were just unlucky. But as you say, it should have been picked up in their QA procedure (that’s what is for, after all).
I can’t believe the 1 setting gave you bbs! 2 was almost useless for me. For reference #3 on a 6c 3 pass shave it the ticket. #2 plate is close to bbs & I’ll use that if my face is irritated I’d love a T2 vs Merkur progress head to head shave!
The Rockwell blades are terrible. The Nick me up big time. Such a shame they use & ship with those blades. My father in law returned his 6C because of those terrible blades. He didn’t know better to try other blades as he was a newer DE user. I am trying hard to love my T2 but being honest I don’t. For me the 6c is superior. 6c is Smoother & nicks me almost never. The T2 feels like the blade is not stiff/supported enough too me. For me thus far the 7am sharp from durablade are my favorite blades in the T2 or perma sharps. I find the 2 setting almost useless on the T2. 2.5-4 are my sweet spot for ED shaves. I was going to ask my buddy if he wants the T2 this weekend to see if he likes it more then me.
Nice video, mate. Please, though… don’t run your finger over the blade like that (when you’re talking about blade gap etc). That’s a rookie mistake, and you will cut yourself (badly) one day. Treat DE blades with the utmost respect; this is not the same as shaving with a cartridge razor. The T2 is a great razor, as is the 6S, but Rockwell blades are as rough as guts! You would have had a much smoother shave with a better quality blade. By the way, the T2 isn’t aggressive, especially on 1. You may not have fully tightened down the butterfly flaps. You have to turn the bottom dial two or three time to really clamp the blade. Oh well. Cheers. 👍🪒
Nice shave Heiko, I think I saw some videos where the T2 after closing the doors you need to turn the TTO almost 2 more turns, that locks the blade. I would confirm it with Rockwell.
I will confirm. But I think I had it turned as far as it would turn. The Gillette adjustables give you a quarter turn at the end.
@@Heiko-shaves It might have been with the stainless steel version, but I would check with Rockwell.

On the 6s I use the #3 plate but the T2 starts out much more efficiently .
Looks like there might be a variance between individual T2s in terms of blade exposure. (or could some blades be a bit wider than others?)
