But SHINee's fans are called SHINee World (Shawol), so it's also "a concert for SHINee World." :D) This was the last SHINee group concert tour that Jonghyun was involved in. So that is why this is such a meaningful and poignant song for Shawols. On top of being a very beautiful performance, it's almost as if Onew and Jonghyun are singing to each other, asking each other to "please don't leave," etc., which in hindsight, breaks our hearts every time we hear them sing those lines. Jonghyun and Onew were a POWERFUL combo, proving why they are the vocal standard in the industry.
As you are starting to discover, Jonghyun is one of the best vocalist in Kpop and he was an expert at conveying emotion through his songs and performance. And as a musical stage actor, Onew knows how to tell a story through music and make you feel everything. As a lead actor in several musical productions, Onew knows how to project his voice to the back of the theatre and to fill a room with each note. "Please Don't Go" is a perfect example of why they are both so highly respected for their vocal talent. That's why, even as rookies, Jonghyun and Onew were vocal coaches and mentors to a lot other artists and trainees. There is almost no group that has better harmonies and vocals than SHINee. They are one of the most well rounded groups in Kpop that excel at every aspect of the entertainment industry.
The reason why the audience screams so loud and Onew cries during this performance of "Rainy Blue" is because, as others have mentioned, this was Onew's first solo performance since having vocal cord surgery. It was a really scary surgery because there was no guarantee that he would ever be able to sing again, let along at the same quality as he did before the surgery. Onew spent about 3 months after his surgery not being able to speak at all in order to give his vocal cords time to heal, and then he had to learn to sing all over again. This performance was proof to himself and fans that he could still do it and that nothing had changed. Onew chose to do a cover of this song as his first solo after the surgery because the song is connected to everything he had to go through and it is really meaningful. As I understand it, the original Japanese singer had the same surgery as Onew, and he was never able to sing quite as well again. As I have heard Onew explain, "Rainy Blue" was so meaningful to him at this time because the song is about giving up something that was so precious, etc. The song is kind of saying how the world around him kept moving forward while time stood still for him during his recovery because of how hard it was to deal with the fact that he might not be able to keep singing. Luckily Onew's surgery had a much better outcome than the original singer and it seems to not have had much of an affect on his voice. There's no need for fancy stage sets, costumes, or extras because Onew and Jonghyun don't need it. Again, 2 of the best voices in the industry!
i had the privilege of hearing rainy blue twice live in 2022 and 2023 and each time was just so beautiful 😭 and each day im just grateful that jinki is still singing to this day 😭🤍
Onew was crying near the end of the song because he was so gratefull that he coould hit the high note because he had vocal issues before and did not know if he could ever song again.He's hard work paid off!

I don't mind about Rainy Blue being blurred because I have it memorized from seeing it so often! Still get chills listening to it today. This is the first Onew solo that I ever heard and it made me his fan for life (with all of SHINee of course). IMO, so far, there's no one in KPop with voices like Onew or Jonghyun and they're both in the same group, we're so lucky!
