    Life long eczema person here, that got way worse under the stresses of adult life. Cracked lips, red face and eyes. At the worst point someone said that it looked like I drove through a rosebush on a motorcycle. Ya, let that sink in. Dupixent healed me 99% with only a small dry spot behind my ear. Life changing drug, unreal.

      Thanks for sharing. Dupixent really is the best eczema treatment available today. It’s not perfect, but quite close, especially for those of us who’ve had severe eczema and none of the other treatments could help at all

      Have you used topical ateroids for a long time prior to Dupixent? I'm curious if TS use would affect the results of Dupixent.

      @@bakkermaarten007 I did in times when the condition would worsen but not constantly over my lifetime. There would be years in between then be on them for a year , etc. I have sparingly used them with the dupixent when I get small flares on my face every once in awhile and managed it that way.

    I want to thank you for making so many of us feel less alone in this journey. It takes a lot of effort to share this kind of stuff, and it's more difficult than anyone could understand unless they experience it themselves. Too many people are dismissive of these problems, thinking it's self-caused or has an easy solution... but that's obviously far from the truth.

So far she has not experenced with any side effect from it and she's enjoying her life now without eczema flareing up all the time (I was very suffer to see her like that all the time before). My daughter is 18 now and has suffered from severe a topic dermatitis her entire life. She’s allergic to everything! Dust is just as bad as her dairy, egg, shellfish and tomato allergy. The list goes on and on. She’s finally approved for dupixent and her loading does starts tomorrow. I really hope she tolerates it and isn’t allergic. I’ve read and watched horror stories about this medication and I’m a little terrified to be honest. So happy you’re getting some relief.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Starr, I’ve gone through everything your daughter has and worse. Dupixent is the only medication that has worked for me after 35 years of testing medications and having them backfire. I think the horror stories of dupixent are overblown as Dupixent is safer than most over-the-counter medications. For most people, Dupixent completely changes their lives so they move on to getting their life back so you won’t hear from them. You’ll only hear from the small number of people who have bad reactions or who do not have the patience to let the medication work. Please watch my first video on Dupixent and what happened to me over my first 10 months: th-cam.com/video/I63OBE7u10k/w-d-xo.html

      @@JeffreyLin no I have not. I have been doing the classic steroid creams, moved on to eucrisa recently but she just cried because it stings and the flare ups are just not getting any better. I tried to cut back the steroids because I felt like her tolerance was growing without getting huge results. Now I mostly been using the eucrisa and steroid here and there to help when the flare ups are really bad. Her legs are scratched up from ankles to knees and her wrists to elbows. I got her belly and back to finally clear out a bit. Face is scratched and super dry. I will look into the bath though. I’ve been trying all types of soaps and baths to keep her skin clean and at least a little less itchy.

      Actually, also write down Benralizumab. Benralizumab and Nucala (mepolizumab) specifically target eosinophilic asthma, but they work via different mechanisms. Sorry, my brain wasn’t working earlier. Xolair is more for IgE related allergies, including asthma. But Xolair could still work for you as reducing IgEs can also reduce eosinophils indirectly. I have not tried Benralizumab but it’s one of the many options I’m considering. Also, try the antihistamine medications I mentioned in the antihistamine video. That can help if your asthma isn’t too severe

    I’ve had severe eczema since I was 2 yo and been to dermatologists up to the age of 16. During that time (18 years ago) dupixent was still new and not yet approved. They told my mum that we can try it on me but they don’t know what side effects can happen. My mum did not agree.
    When I was 24/25 I did natural remedies and found ways that would help my skin without the use of steroid creams. I was eczema free for 7-8 years and would only have very mild flare ups that would last a day or two max.
    Since my 2nd COVID vaccine it’s come back along with my asthma and it’s worst than ever. I’m considering taking dupixent but I don’t want my skin to rely on it forever.
    My parents are Filipino but I was born and live in Australia. The weird thing is everytime I visit the Philippines or go to a tropical country like Vietnam or Thailand my skin is perfect I don’t need to put any creams on and my eczema is completely gone.

Scratching to the point where I have bruises and blood And patches all over it’s just been horrible. If you’ve watched my other videos, you’ll know I actually do much better in Europe, especially in Holland. However, it’s not a cure for me to be there since my condition is a complex immune response that also involves asthma and allergies and nervous system inflammation. I’ve heard some people who also do well in Thailand. I think it’s more because of the humidity and maybe less plants or dust that you’re allergic to. My parents are from Taiwan but I get very sick there because of the horrible pollution, pesticides, crop burning, etc. Places like Thailand and Taiwan are also bad for me because the hot humidity actually causes wounds to be infected and the sweat makes my skin worse. The cold humidity in Holland works better for me.

For 8 years, I went in every 6 months for a corticosteroid injection. They said that I couldn't get them more often than that. I suffered in silence mostly, because the doctors shrugged it off as if it were nothing, and I didn't want to look like a wuss. I will start from YOUR beginning video! Thank you so much!!

    Hi, I’ve had eczema all my life (18 yrs) and since I’ve begun Dupixent, it seems to be working well for me (I think I’ve done about four injections so far). The only concerning thing is that with every testimony about this drug, it seems that people clear up and then it either stops progressing or they get a side effect and end up trying another solution. It’s very disheartening to think that I’ll have to continue injections for who knows how long or resort to hopping from one treatment to another (holistic or otherwise), usually without a cure. Maybe I should be taking this considering that most drugs don’t “cure” but simply help as much as possible. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing and I understand how it feels to live with chronic eczema. It can make daily life complicated and for all of us who just want to be clear and normal, I hope there is something conclusive.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Princy! You’re thinking about this exactly right. Most medications don’t cure. I was born with eczema and other immune illnesses (I’m 36 now), and when I was growing up, dermatology and allergy we’re all very new medical fields. Even a decent treatment like Dupixent was unthinkable. In fact, one of my research doctors was involved with developing Dupixent and he said this thing has been in R&D for almost 30 yrs. I’m just grateful it’s brought me a lot more relief than in the past. I also know medical technology is improving super fast so you’ll definitely have a cure in your lifetime. When I was your age, that seemed impossible. Also, a lot of people “stop improving” on Dupixent because they have other allergy triggers or immune problems they’re not properly avoiding or treating. In online forums and comments, you mostly hear from people who aren’t doing well, so they’re still researching or complaining. For the people who this has “cured”, they’re moving on to repair or start their lives and won’t be complaining it didn’t work.

    • @princylady1
      @princylady1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeffrey Lin Thank you for your response! I did an allergy test recently and have very few, obscure allergies, so if the problem with the halt in progression is that, it may not apply to me. I definitely plan to continue Dupixent for a bit, especially since I’m so early in. In that case, if I don’t see results that are too significant after maybe a year or so, what would you recommend I do?

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Princy! Did u get a skin-prick or skin patch test for allergies or a blood test measuring IgE levels and eosinophils? Also, are you using any other medication with Dupixent? Any topical skin ointment medications? As I’m sure you know, steroids like prednisone and topical steroids all makes the skin thinner and damages the skin. So people who continue to use steroids makes it harder for Dupixent to continue to heal the skin, but sometimes steroids are necessary. There are many factors to consider. The body is complex!

    • @princylady1
      @princylady1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jeffrey Lin I got a skin-prick and no I don’t use anything else. Before we came to my current doctor (the one who gave me Dupixent), my dermatologist had me on a myriad of pills, none of which showed drastic effects. I stopped everything a while before Dupixent, including blood builders and multivitamins.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To answer your question original, I would use Dupixent over any other eczema, pill, or treatment. Medically and biologically speaking, Dupixent is the best at targeting eczema and helping the skin heal naturally and have it’s own immune defense. Also, as a “biologic” category medication, it is extremely safe. However, if your skin is fine whether if you use Dupixent or not, then there’s no reason to use it. Dupixent is for severe eczema where no lifestyle change works. Maybe just avoiding your allergies and proper bathing and moisturizing and stress management would clear up your eczema. My rule of thumb is use as little medication as necessary. You can also try an injection every few weeks or months like I do, but there’s no research data on that yet. Xolair is another injection you can try if you have mild or slightly severe eczema.

    Hi Jeffrey 😊. I prefer my injections on the fatty part of my upper arm. My fiance gives me my injections there. I alternate arms. I have found that the arm injection site is the best! I read a NIH study article regarding the problem of the Dupixent side effect of Eye Conjunctivitis ( I have this troublesome problem also) where a person took it once a month. So, it's good to hear that you are spacing it out too because of your eyes. How are your eyes today? Unfortunately I'm allergic to the popular eye drops for moisture. I'm also allergic to antihistamines. They are Benzene derived. Quercitin powder supplement helps me. Your right, some probiotics can aggravate histamine. I only use D-Lactate Free probiotic powder by Custom Probiotics. I also take 1 MegaSpore probiotic per day. My digestive system has improved by taking these two. It's a slow process, but worth it. I try to stay clear from sugar.😢 The holidays can be a challenge too because there are more treats practically shoved into your face! You feel obligated to eat because of the effort a loved one has put into it. If I splurge a day, I suffer for a very long time. So, I've learned my lesson to just toss them away. We have to take care of our bodies. We've suffered too much. 😢

    Hey man, I'm glad to hear that Dupixent has done you good. My wife has atopic dermatitis and we live in Brazil. We are planning to go to the US for treatment with Dupixent. So far she has been using a lot of steroids, but even so the eczema is still very severe. During the weaning period of the corticoid she feels the eyes itch very much and even swell, do you believe that this may be a predisposing factor for her to suffer side effects in the eyes with the use of dupixent?
    Thank you for your time and for sharing valuable information with those who are facing this struggle.
    God bless.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Wolf! Thanks for your comment. First, steroids are the most dangerous thing for eczema and will only get worse. Steroids thins the skin and destroys the skin’s immune system. Immunosuppressants are a better option if her eczema is very severe. Or try Protopic ointment. The steroid eye itch should be a different cause than Dupixent eye irritation. Steroid eye irritation is steroids damaging the eye. Dupixent eye irritation is, theoretically, because of eosinophils that are still produced even though Dupixent has healed the skin. The extra eosinophils now cause problems with the eye. If you have more questions, ask me any time.
      And if you have not, please subscribe. It will help my video reach more people with eczema that are suffering.

      Hey...Welcome! I'm still on Dupixent now and continue to see improvements every month. Even though my skin has looked and felt clear for a long time now, Dupixent continues to fix my immune system. Dupixent is a "biologic" medication, meaning it's engineered only to fix the eczema problem and shouldn't have many side effects. It's safer than most meds you find at the Pharmacy. It hasn't always been a smooth journey though. There was some skin redness in the beginning ( th-cam.com/video/I63OBE7u10k/w-d-xo.html ) and eye irritation, which has finally gone away after a few years and a reduced dosage (every 6-8 weeks). But I think those are just your body's immune adjusting to being healthy, so as long as you don't have a severe allergic reaction to Dupixent, I suggest sticking with it as long as you can.

When I lived in Miami for three years I forgot I had any eczema. Anyways it's just not going away on my fingers and comes up in little liquid bubbles and either I pop them or they go away and the skin peels off. They do cause soreness but are never itchy?? I’ve never heard of eczema that isn’t itchy?

    You are injecting at the wrong angle and you definitely don't need to put a plaster on the site. I've been injecting Dupilumab for just about a year. Never use plasters, which cause allergic reactions, and do not use wipes before. You should be injecting at a 45 degree angle.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Trace, for the first six or so months, I’d get a few large hive “bumps” for an hour or two total. It would happen randomly a few days after each injection. Given how much healing and change Dupixent is doing to your skin, there will be times where your skin seems “unstable.”

    How do you do with dental work? Do you have a lot of teeth issues ? Do you react to dental work, tooth paste, floss, cavity fillings?
    I have a lot of issues with them and it’s really difficult

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. I’ve actually been quite lucky and have strong teeth, which only got bad after taking the immunosuppresant Cyclosporine. But I barely brushed my teeth for 10 years while my skin was highly reactive to water, and my hands and palm skin were full of blisters that I couldn’t hold my toothbrush anyway. To be able to use my hands, I used to bandage my hands, then wear cotton gloves, then a layer of baseball gloves on the outside. However, my face would always be in pain and leak with the brushing motion stretched the skin of my face and cheeks.

    I might be going on dupixent in the coming months. Worst part of my eczema is not the appearance but the unrest from itchiness and lack of sleep. Looking so forward to going on this drug. But do you have to be on it for life or will your body eventually reboot itself?

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good luck man, keep me posted. Since Dupixent is new, no one knows for sure. If you're desperate enough to try Dupixent, you probably have a severe case and shots every few weeks or every few months isn't a big deal compared to the discomfort and loss of life quality. For me, my overall health, not just eczema, has continued to improve 1302 days since my first shot. By healing your skin, dupixent does give your body a chance to heal, but it's unclear if that lasts, but you might be able to get to a better condition where over-the-counter meds like antihistamines will be enough. P.S. love wordpress...used it since 2003.

    • @JeffreyLin
      @JeffreyLin  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, for me and many people, the eye irritation and skin redness is a phase as the immune system adjusts to the medication. Also, I don’t think the 2-week injection dose is right for everyone, so if you adjust that, your side effect could be mild or have no side effects at all. But, if you have better options, you should try those first.

      I know it is hard. I was born with severe eczema and had it everyday of my life, and it got worse for 27 years. You’ll only have a chance if you keep fighting and be patient. There are other versions of Dupixent that will be available in 2-3 years. Those could be cheaper and possible to get.
