I think both Firearms are outstanding! With red dot or open sights like you say HR is up to the person handling that firearm! I have not found the need to go with red dot as for EDC I still prefer concealability! If I want what I am shooting at "destroyed" then it will be so! Sights or no sights! Outstanding video HR. Very much enjoyed it! Thanks!!
I believe it would be a better comparison between the Masada 9S and the Hellcat Pro. Similar grip size. I have both the original Hellcat and Hellcat Pro and I noticed the same thing, that the shorter grip can cause the magazine eject to get caught by the hand just as you did. I like the options on the original Hellcat with different grip options for better concealment, but prefer the Hellcat Pro for longer grip and longer slide.
Hellcat Pro looks similar to the Masada 9S. On paper the HC Pro looks better. It is smaller than my Canik METE SF hand they both hold 15+1 vs the 13+1 of the Masada.
@@Being_Joe I don't have a HP but handled one in a gun shop. When I picked up the 9S I immediately thought it felt like a better feeling HP ..in my hand anyways..Love my 9S
Sorry came in late really nice comparison thanks for the detailed experiment. I bought the Masada 9S a couple of months ago and am really pleased with the performance.
Good morning, HRFUNK and family. Another beautiful day. I'm just working on my 2nd cup of coffee here as i was watching this video. 👌 video. A lot of your videos since I've been a sub a month ago. I've writing down notes, learning and applying when I came. OO! wait a sec, gotta get a slip of this Costa Rica coffee my brother sent me. O! Yea! Good stuff! ☕️. I'll be taking out my new Rock island Tac Ultra FSHC 45acp 13 round today. I have to say tho, even tho she's a THICK girl at 3lb with full mag. The weight feels REALLY GOOD. Field strip it and gave it a good once over with some Radco CLP. At the end of August I'm going to place my order with hops munitions. Going to order a little bit of each of my 9mm, 45acp, 5.56, .223, 380acp , .308. Maybe in the future they'll have their own shotgun shell line. I'm ALL for supporting company's who hire vets from military & law enforcement 😎🤘🇺🇲🍻. I look forward to shooting their ammo
The Hellcat was my first gun. I later bought a full-size 9mm (Taurus TH9) but quickly sold it when I realized I was much more accurate with the Hellcat.
I bought the optics ready hellcat two years ago because Springfield fired 10,000 rounds through it without failure. Yes, the Springfield is snappy but accurate
Howard, THANK YOU for a wonderful - clear, analytically sound, and thoughtful - video. The Hellcat and the 9S are both outstanding micro-compacts; obviously, either will do its designed job VERY well. The factual differences you noted, while absolutely correct, were so minute that (imho) they’re pragmatically inconsequential. As you’ve correctly suggested so many times, “it’s the Indian, not the bow and arrow.” Here’s a question, however. Were this course fired with an iron-sighted 9S, I wonder if the results would be essentially similar?
When gripping the Masada S try to use the bottom serrations of the pistol to get the finger indexing you we’re talking about. That’s how I grip the Masada S when I shoot it, and it works great that way. Love your reviews man they are really good.
@@hrfunkOh ok nice, thanks for such a great in depth comparison between the two. I think the Masada S is a gun that checks most if not all the boxes of what people are looking for in a edc. Shoots soft, thin enough to conceal at any carry position comfortably, and can carry with almost any type of clothing you want to wear. Not to mention built like a tank as far as reliability.
Very interesting test. Watching HRFunk shoot is seeing how it is supposed to be done. Very good evaluation, and I forwarded it to a partner who is just now upgrading to trying a red dot optic on his duty gun. Thanks.
Thank You for the video. Regarding the issues you stated to your original Hellcat, I concluded that I have to wait for the "Hellcat Pro" to arrive along our shores, before considering purchasing one.
Hey HR, just wanted to say thanks for the youtube short you did at shot show on the P99 Final Edition. I finally got one yesterday and I absolutely love it. The presentation the pistol comes in is sweet, definitely recommend picking one up and doing a review, as of now theres only one on youtube and its nowhere near the quality of depth that your reviews are.
@@hrfunk im in CT, Hoffman’s Guns for the Good Guys in Newington, CT got a few in. The only problem is they are 10rnd capacity because this state sucks. Hope you find one soon, you’re gonna love it.
Failure training is just as important as dry firing and the actual shooting drill. Having seen the Hellcat magazine get stuck in the hand made me think of a training game I saw some Police Officers use. Their instructor would randomly load a dummy round in the participants magazine, then they would run drills to see who could recover from the failure and complete the course comparing times at the end. If your not training it will cost you. It doesn't matter what you use just be the absolute best you can be with it. “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.” Bruce Lee Great honest content as always, thank you for letting everyone see the good and the bad. It provides tremendous value to new and seasoned shooters.
Wow, that was a close one! There's no doubt an rds really earns its keep at distances, but the Hellcat isn't rolling over for anybody, ether. Well done! 👍👍
Great editing and I know it took a lot of work. Very interesting but I can't help but see it as an unfair fight. 1st gen Hellcat trigger when they are onward to a 3rd gen trigger now. No red dot, with a red dot. Fascinating look into your decision making. Here in S.W. Florida, in a summer of everyday hitting 100*, pocket carry is the only opinion, my sub compacts have been trading foder now for years.
I'm over in S.E. Florida at the entrance to the Keys. I feel your pain. But the cop in me just won't allow me to carry the tiniest of guns, especially given incidents like the shooting insie my neighborhood Walmart last week.. So, I now tend to carry a pistol with a full grip in a Galco Classic Lite shoulder rig while wearing a tee shirt, and the nearly ubiquitous unbottoned "fishing shirt" to cover the gun, worn almost like a very light jacket. It is very comfortable and I've become used to it even on the warmest of days. I carried in the pocket for about 35 years, usually for my backup gun that was a J-frame revolver. Due to an injury, I now spend a lot of time in a wheelchair when not wearing my prosthetic leg so pocket carry doesn't work as well for me as it once did. On the odd occasion that I want to pocket carry a small gun, it is a J-frame or Glock 42 which I shoot materially better than something like a Ruger LCP. In fact, I shot my last LEOSA qualification with it and did quite well out to 25 yards with that .380. It is about as small as I want to go in a semi-auto pistol. Take care and be safe!
@@PPISAFETY you too! It's a nut house here anymore. All of the yanks coming, road rage all over the place. I agree, after 25 years of a 226 on my duty belt, everything else feels anemic. I settled on a Hellcat recently but prefer a P320 xComp.
Very good review! The difference between the two guns are subjective and within a hair split of each other in the overall context of self-defense. Your final point is on the money: "you can't buy skill".
I can see in you handling both that you have a better grip and more control with the IWI. In a threat situation that matters greatly. I think you made a great choice. Not because of brand or "coolness" but through careful evaluation as to what works best for you.
@@hrfunkHi , considering the shield plus with its 13 magazine is almost the same size as the hellcat pro with its 15 rd magazine ,except the longer barrel 3.7 vs 3.1 on the shield plus. Which one is a better gun ? Thanks a lot
I’m not sure there’s a “better” between those two, but there might be a better for you. My suggestion would be to handle them both, and shoot them if you can. Then decide which one works best for em you.
Does HOP have a P365 X MACRO you can borrow? I’d like to see how the Masada S compares to it. 17 +1 is a lot of ammo in a package not much bigger than the S I’d imagine. I use mine for IWB tuckable carry (Read: Sunday Church security) and most folks don’t even know I’m carrying. I am 6’2” and just over 250lbs though so, that may have something to do with concealability for me. 😊 I have the same issue with magazines and Glock 19 size grips myself. The P320 compact w/15 rounds doesn’t give me that problem with the Wilson grip. I also have a hard time getting XL gloves on though. 😂
Im also extremely interested in the X Macro with the comp. Unfortunately i live in a commie state and so far we havent gotten any with 10 round magazines yet, such a shame.
@@ProjectSerpo90 I had a comped X Macro. Not impressed enough to keep it. I purchased the X MACRO TACOPS. Came with 4 - 17 round mags for $50 cheaper than the comped version! Win/Win! I didn’t notice anything on my shot timer being better in performance than the TACOPS. YMMV. I’ve been really happy with it. Very accurate and I love how it fits my hand!
I'd like to see Masada S vs your 940 (or Charter Boxer if they still have it) or maybe 2 1/2" Smith w .357. I rewatch my own small revo vs Micro vids it's interesting the Revo vs Pistol same size battles w same shooter to check times & hits. Or maybe you should pickup a Taurus 856 Toro & put a red dot on it...see u with Red Dot Wheelgun would make for fun videos & comparisons.
I agree the Hellcat Sites are very good, betted than Optics. First, being a detailed former Marine after initially shooting the Hellcat, I was disappointed. I examined the U site. I found it was off center slightly to the righr. I pencil marked a line to the left. Wirh a slight tap it aligned. Now on center target. Second, I replaced the creepy trigger with an APE X two spring trigger. Boy, what a difference. Now, for Optics, I bought the Swampfox recommended by S.A. what a sub-par optic. I also wide XL hands. I only use the 13 magazine. Semper Fi and keep up the OUTSTANDING AND MERITORIOUS WORK!
HR....Nice. Great effort!! They issue you a weapon and. that is what you have in the end. Ok, point being, your new "equipment" has an optical sighting system, the other one a traditional iron sight. in my own case, I just tried to transition to the the optical. I am an old guy, one of my shooting buddies said, "You are going to get shot while trying to find that darned red dot"!!!!!! My take, iron sights are good for CQB, more of a point and shoot scenario. Your hellcat did not let you down, other than the grip length is too short for your hand, impinging in the mag drop maneuver, costing you time! I wonder if a longer grip length would have made a difference? I would think so. The Hellcat Pro has a longer grip length. I think you are on the right track though with the IWI product. Just an opinion, brother! Most of us do not have the loot to go buying all sorts of guns and gadgets! We work with what we have..... .....Thought, (Danger, Danger!)..... whatever happened to laser sights, nobody even tests them anymore? I hace never used one, I do not know. Excellent job !!! Thanks.
You're welcome. If you're interested, here is a video where I tested the laser just a couple of weeks ago. TH-cam demonetized it, so very few notifications went out: th-cam.com/video/ES2Ns9JK6t8/w-d-xo.html
The part I liked the best? Your conclusions! Even though I watch gel tests, they never impress me as much as the skill of the shooter. In fact, I believe most of the conclusions drawn from the gel tests are misleading at best. (gonna run off at the mouth here) if your PD provides training under pressure situations, don't be bashful. Static targets are good, but taking the next step is better.
You have absolutely sold me on the 9s,I have other CZ’s like the P09 and P07 but I keep my IWI Jericho in my truck a lot like that they share mags.I still have to go to the range and rent a 9s but from handling at gun shop I like it.
Great demonstration of it doesn’t really matter what bells and whistles one chooses on said firearm. Without the range time and acquaintance of whatever carry option one may choose then you likely could be just carrying around extra weight. Great Video!
Really interesting presentation, thank you Howard. Purely for fun I 'comstocked' your scores because that's how we would have done a side by side evaluation back in the last century (!) when I was shooting (here in the UK). Using a Comstock score allows you to evaluate accuracy and speed together (divide the score by the time to give you a 'score per second' rating) instead of comparing accuracy and using speed as a tie break. Just another way of doing things, and the results are the same (the Masada still came out tops) but the Comstock score shows us how slim the margin was. The overall Comstock value for the Hellcat was 2.38 (2.38 points of score for every second it was shot) and the Masada value was 2.56. Is that enough of a difference to make a difference? Probably not. In the hands of a someone who knows what they are doing they are both effective pistols.
Thanks Alan. That's interesting. I am familiar with Comstock scoring, but I rarely use it. It appears, regardless of the metric, this was very, very close. Thanks for the info!
@@hrfunk All true, but its capacity, quality, reliability and accuracy cannot be questioned. Moreover, I prefer all-metal, hammer-fired autoloaders, and the safety advantages of traditional DA/SA designs are clear.
Been waiting for this review with much anticipation. I've experienced 2 problems with mags while shooting IDPA & ASI competitions with all sizes of pistols. The 1st is trying to even hit the mag release with my short thumb of my small hands. When I do catch it my palm holds the mag from dropping out as is what happened to you with your Hellcat. 2nd problem is the mag dropping out on recoil while my left hand is squeezing the grip. Again this happens with all sizes of pistols. So I changed all the mag releases to the lefty side & all these problems went away. I now use my trigger finger to hit the mag release which keeps your palm out of the way making my mag changes much much faster and easier.
I have done that before with some of my handguns that have a reversible magazine catch. I also prefer releasing the magazine with the middle finger of my shooting hand. The only reason I have discontinued that practice is to maintain common training techniques throughout all my handguns. Also, the potential exists for the magazine to be inadvertently released if the catch is on the off side of a carry handgun. Seatbelts can be particularly problematic in that regard.
That was an interesting competition and a lot of work to make the video, but every time you said "Center Square" all I could think of was Paul Lynde! You younger folks can Google that name... Be well, Chief!
I am jealous of the outdoor range. This was a good drill I will have to practice regardless of weapon. I went with the Ruger Max9 Pro, but am just running the iron sights still but the front is Tritium illuminated and is awesome. I find it extremely accurate in rapid target acquisition and aim. To me, at the store, the Max9 felt better in my hands than the HC, and sometimes "feel" is a great part of "function." Nice test. Appreciate someone Objectively Quantifying the comparison. I don't know if I could match half your score without a longer barrel. So, great shooting 👍
Great video. The Slim surprised me the first time I shot it. I wasn't expecting to like it. If you have access to one, it would be interesting to see a comparison against the hellcat pro, which I think is a closer size comparison, if a little larger.
Outstanding review Howard .Have you considered the 15 round magazine for the Hell Cat it extends the grip try the same review with the Hell Cat and the 15 round magazine. It improved my shot group tighten them up. I have the Swampfox Patriot Green Dot on my Hell Cat as well.I use the IMI Black Dot ammo in my Hell Cat as my carry ammo with Winchester Active Duty Ball flat point ammo every two Rounds for penetrating car doors and barricaded targets.😊
I am very concerned with how well my trigger finger reaches or does not reach the trigger. Further, can I get my hand around the girth of the grip well? If these two things are met, I know I will shoot the firearm well. For me, the larger the grip frame I know I will be fighting the gun. Of course decent sights are a plus as are the trigger itself, but the first two criteria are my start point.
A few questions about both guns. Which gun is better for left handed shooting? Is there any difference in the ease of takedown and maintenance between the guns?
I think they are about the same for left hand shooting. The Hellcat is probably slightly easier to disassemble for cleaning, but the Masada is a chassis system with a removable FCU. In the end, there’s just not much difference.
I compared the Hellcat and Hellcat Pro at the shop counter and had the same problem with the smaller Hellcat's magazine catching on my palm. Needless to say I went woth the Pro instead. I have the same problem with the P365. It doesn't happen with the CSX. So when I need an extra small gun, I go with that.
HR, you are a very good shot. It will be hard to distinguish which weapon system is better. The red dot will be a little more user friendly for the new shooter, but older, experienced shooters won't have a problem with the iron sights. Magazine well size does play a factor in clean mag changes.
I really like the HC with factory comp and Holosun 407k. I was not happy with factory trigger. Installed internal kit from MCarbo. Huge improvement imo. Now a keeper for sure.
Nice video, Chief. Unfortunately I’m gonna have to wait until I’m in the department to get a chance to own any of those weapons, but I’m excited nonetheless.
I completely agree with your conclusions. Both seem like good pistols. The main differences as I see ithem are that if pressed, you could carry the Hellcat in a cargo pants pocket (in a pocket holster of course) and then when you wanted it to be a holster gun, you could use one of the longer magazines for a more certain grip. I do this from time to time with my Shield. This is not a flexibility that the Masada Slim offers. Second, if you have many years of shooting iron sights and want to stay with them, the ones that come on the Hellcat are quite attractive, and there is an optics ready version should your needs change. Price would seem to favor the Masada, but that is before you purchase an optic to put on it. On the other hand, even though not tested, I can see the probable superiority of the Masada Slim on the draw from a belt holster. Other than that I don't see too much difference. I'd carry either one of them after I tested my personal sample. I'm leaning toward the Hellcat however because I generally favor smaller grip frame carry guns that can be made larger when needed. As an aside, it is great to see someone on TH-cam shooting at an anatomically realistic and relevant target and keeping score, rather than banging away at a piece of steel and calling anything that makes a noise good. Well done Chief.
Have you tried the Canik MC9? A fella at the range let me shoot his. The felt recoil is more like a sub-compact than a micro. Quite remarkable. I currently carry a Hellcat Pro and it is snappier than the MC9. Enough that I may switch it up. The Canik trigger is also arguably better. The Hellcat Pro trigger is a little heavy ,or at least has a harder break.
Interesting comparison; boils down to the person behind the gun, their skill with firearms. Like you said the reverse could easily take place in a another test if you were the person using these two weapons. A poor shot no matter how accurate the platform would have problems. Excellent shooting with both, I have a sergeant buddy (retired) who uses the Springfield Hellcat 9MM and is a fan of the pistol and confident/competent in its use. I looked into the Hellcat based upon his recommendation, but would want the flip up safety (which they do produce); hard to get past the 1911 platform background. Great job Chief and I really like those targets may need to order some.
This was cool video and took a lot of time to make. I like that i could see some of the training exercises. I calculated the pts per second the hc came in at 2.376 pts/s and iwi at 2.556 pts/s. You just about scored the same overall pts just acquired the pts 7% faster with the iwi. How was the bbq? Its time to start the my smoker. All the best!
Is it just me or did we go in a giant circle from Glock 19 size being the favored for ccw to p365 and now we’re back to Glock 19 size because they kept making the micro 9s bigger for people to grip better
It’s been a long time since I shot the G43. I don’t recall any significant recoil, but I prefer the ergonomics, pointing characteristics, and trigger of the Masada.
Based on my personal shooting I find the dot is superior to the irons at longer distances both with accuracy and speed. I have come to prefer irons on my EDC assuming that a shooting encounter for self defense is most likely going to be up close and personal. At distances of 15 yards and over the dot is faster and more accurate. Iron sight types are a personal preference, I don't like U shaped sights or outlined rear sights. I agree the Hellcat has an excellent front sight.
The Masada slim is a great gun , but it felt me a little weight on the top middle and unbalanced in my hand. That os my impression. But the grip is very good
I was a huge proponent of the IWI Masada S for several months, then the recoil spring/guide rod assembly came apart. Now I'm back to my S&W Shield Plus. IWI sent me a new assembly, but now I won't trust it until I've got 1000+ rounds through it like I did before. After that, who knows? Can't go wrong with the Shield Plus either. Got optics on both, no problems concealing, and I'm in Central Florida where we don't really need to own coats more than 2 weeks out of the year. Good evaluation of your two pistols. I sold my Hellcat long ago. Not sure it was a good choice, but that's the way it worked out.
Interesting test HR. I primarily carry a G26 but it's too big for comfy summer carry, so I do have some interest in a more compact 9 but it's hard to decide if I want to opt for the Hellcat/P365/MC9 category or closer to the Hellcat Pro, which is still slimmer than a G26 and easier to shoot than the micro-9s... then theres the Masada... ugh, decisions decisions.
👍 very interesting. A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.” - Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 19, 1785
For the size difference and thus the concealable difference between the firearms I would say the Hellcat would be my winner. The shooting characteristics in the test didn’t differ enough to overcome the micro 9s benefits.
With a red dot on the Masada, this was NOT a apples-to-apples evaluation! I would prefer you to run the Masada on iron sights instead. I still think it might win, but your methodology leaves me wondering. If you prefer iron sights, the Masada might be even faster than with the red dot. Yes, accuracy might suffer, but that would be a better test in my opinion. Would you be willing to retest? What do you think?
I don't really want to dismount the optic on my Masada. Comparing the iron sights, I think I prefer those on the Hellcat. I really like that big high-vis front sight.
After constantly hearing from those that would take away our 2nd amendment rights im buying my first gun at 68.I like both of these and have just come upon the IWI offering and it caught my eye immediately. Why wouldn't Israel make a good weapon? My short list also includes the Glock 48 and Kimber r7 mako. I live in the very restrictive state of R.I. so a 10 rd magazine is a must. There's no ranges offering rentals so the best i can do is hold any in shops if available. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Personally I like the Masada 9S. It's likely less expensive than the others. It has pretty much everything you need and nothing you don't. Mine has been completely reliable in terms of its functioning, and it uses easy to find magazines (CZ75 pattern).
Billy Graham was asked what Bible should I read? His answer was the one you have and read. Which is the best Hand gun to carry? The one you have, and practice with.
Human shooting is very similar to human driving. The car goes where the human drives it. The bullet goes where the shooter aims it. Without sitting on a stable device, the accuracy is always human based.
As always, a meticulous review. The grouping of the Masada looks much tighter, so overall it seems you shoot better with the relatively newer firearm. Enjoy them both, stay safe, and regards to all. Paul in Masada country.
You can't be serious, all the gun rags say you need the new mega blaster. Seriously, since leaving my 50's behind, those irons are harder to use every day.
It literally seems to boil down to fundamentals... Good shooters shoot well, regardless of firearm. Maybe marginally better with one or another, but not generally significantly different either way.
Well... Seriously considering a Masada now.
Go for it. I own two, no regrets.

I believe it would be a better comparison between the Masada 9S and the Hellcat Pro. Similar grip size. I have both the original Hellcat and Hellcat Pro and I noticed the same thing, that the shorter grip can cause the magazine eject to get caught by the hand just as you did. That's hard to say. The 9S has a slightly greater sight radius, but the Hellcat has a more visible front sight. I'm not sure how that would play out
Excellent comparison; the Hellcat’s highly visible sights are among the very best (imho).
When gripping the Masada S try to use the bottom serrations of the pistol to get the finger indexing you we’re talking about. That’s how I grip the Masada S when I shoot it, and it works great that way. Love your reviews man they are really good.
Thank you! That's what I do when I grip the 9S, although my thumb rests more naturally on the contour just behind the serrations.
Thanks.
You're welcome Frank. Thanks for watching, and best of luck to your friend.
As usual very interesting and helpful video
Thank you!
I have not been able to find one of those anywhere! May I ask? Where are you found yours? I really want to review one of those.

Great honest content as always, thank you for letting everyone see the good and the bad. It provides tremendous value to new and seasoned shooters.
Looks like it's this or that type of choice . I suffer from the same situation Do I use my 308 or the 270 .lol
Decisions, decisions.
Thanks Good Shooting !
Thanks Dan!
Love the Kore belt...
This one is a 511.
Very good review! The difference between the two guns are subjective and within a hair split of each other in the overall context of self-defense. Your final point is on the money: "you can't buy skill".
How much closer would it be if the Hellcat was replaced with optic ready Hellcat Pro?
That's hard for me to say. Hopefully someone with a Hellcat Pro will give it a try.
Thanks!
Thank you!!
Man that was one of, if not the best comparison videos. You broke it down very well. Also Masada 9S is my carry gun and I love it.
I’m glad you liked it. Thanks for watching!
I can see in you handling both that you have a better grip and more control with the IWI. In a threat situation that matters greatly. I think you made a great choice. Not because of brand or "coolness" but through careful evaluation as to what works best for you.
Thanks. That’s what I try to do. In the end, it’s all about putting bullets in the right place.
@@hrfunk Thanks, this make sense.
I have the same issue with magazines and Glock 19 size grips myself.
I'm not sure if they have one or not. I'll have to ask the next time I'm over there.
@@hrfunk I’d like to see what you think of the MACRO or TACOPS version. In my opinion, they are the ultimate CCW, but, that’s just me….😀
@@hrfunk Max says they do! Awesome!
Waited for this one
I'd like to see Masada S vs your 940 (or Charter Boxer if they still have it) or maybe 2 1/2" Smith w .357. I rewatch my own small revo vs Micro vids it's interesting the Revo vs Pistol same size battles w same shooter to check times & hits. Or maybe you should pickup a Taurus 856 Toro & put a red dot on it...see u with Red Dot Wheelgun would make for fun videos & comparisons.
I did a comparison between the Hellcat and by 342Ti J-frame a couple of years ago. I could try it again with the 9S and my 940.
@hrfunk yes I liked that vid...gives you another reason to film and get better familiar w it so would make a fun vid
If this was a horse race, it would've been a photo finish! That was CLOSE. Great Shooting, Chief. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you!
Thank you and Semper Fi!
Thanks for the honest review as always take care god bless
Thank you! You too!
The more I work with the 9S, the more I like it. IWI makes some great firearms.
Have you reviewed the larger Hellcat Pro? I didn't notice a video in your list.
No, I have not.
Great demonstration of it doesn’t really matter what bells and whistles one chooses on said firearm. Without the range time and acquaintance of whatever carry option one may choose then you likely could be just carrying around extra weight.
Great Video!
Thank you!
I took the OPOTA Firearm Proficiency Test with my Masada 9s.
Perfect score ☺️
Congratulations! Good shooting.
@@hrfunk thing is.. I was using a meprolight front sight
Thanks for the info!
. . . add a Canik, Sig, CZ and Walther to that mix.
There is a specific reason for this one. I covered it in my last video on the Masada.
@@hrfunk
I remembered that, Howard. Would your P-01 (essentially same barrel length) be a reasonable category competitor?
Hmm. The P01 is bigger and heavier. It also, obviously, has a different trigger system. I’ll give that some thought.
@@hrfunk
All true, but its capacity, quality, reliability and accuracy cannot be questioned. Moreover, I prefer all-metal, hammer-fired autoloaders, and the safety advantages of traditional DA/SA designs are clear.
CZ ❤
👍👍very close on the score but the overall shots from the Masada looked like a tighter group. Appreciate the comparison.
Overall, they were tighter. Still things were pretty close.
The Hollywood Squares was a fun show back in the day. I also thought he was great in Bewitched.
To me, at the store, the Max9 felt better in my hands than the HC, and sometimes "feel" is a great part of "function."
Nice test. Appreciate someone Objectively Quantifying the comparison. I don't know if I could match half your score without a longer barrel. So, great shooting 👍
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the comparison!
You're welcome!
Thx Chief appreciate your work 👍💪🏽🎯🔫🇺🇲
Great video. The Slim surprised me the first time I shot it. I wasn't expecting to like it.
If you have access to one, it would be interesting to see a comparison against the hellcat pro, which I think is a closer size comparison, if a little larger.
I don’t have one, sorry.

Thank you!
My favorite CCWs are the Masada 9S and the Arex Delta. Have you had the chance to shoot one of them yet?
Not yet, but I keep wanting to.
"It'd be close. I'd hate to have to live on the difference."
- John Wayne's character Sheriff John T. Chance from the movie Rio Bravo
In defense of the 9s you’re more familiar with the Hellcat so shooting is alittle different.
Did you think the 9S needed defending? I thought it did very well.
@@hrfunk no, since I carry it as well. Just thought Hellcat might have an advantage.
Hmm yeah . But what about 9S VS the 365 XL w red dot ? Good shooting and video .
Thanks Tom! I like both of these pistols and this was a fun comparison. Thanks for watching!
I have tried the MC9. If you check my channel, you’ll find the review.
that helps! THank you!
Thanks Sergeant Major!
Thanks KD. This was a fun video to make. I hope it was equally enjoyable to watch!
@@hrfunk I actually started doing the failure drill at the range. I didn't even know what it was until you showed me in the videos.
Very informative video. Well done.

One thing I notices as is probably the case with all of these micro's is the smaller the gun the longer it takes you to get your shots off.
Is it just me or did we go in a giant circle from Glock 19 size being the favored for ccw to p365 and now we’re back to Glock 19 size because they kept making the micro 9s bigger for people to grip better
Pistolslike the 9S sort of a middle ground between the G19 and the 365. Still, as you noted, there's not a great deal of difference.
BTW Talon now makes grips specifically for the 9s
Thanks for another great vid!! Please, would you speak to the difference in recoil?
I don’t recall noticing much difference. I think the longer grip of the Masada makes it feel a little more controllable.
@@hrfunk Thank you! Please, would speak to the recoil difference, if any, between the Masada Slim and the G43X ?
It’s been a long time since I shot the G43. I don’t recall any significant recoil, but I prefer the ergonomics, pointing characteristics, and trigger of the Masada.
Great video. Thanks.
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Good and close comparison. Results may have been different if the Hellcat had used the 13 round mag and was optic ready and installed.
Maybe. But I wanted to test these two handguns in the same configuration in which I carry them.
Great video. God Bless!👍
The Masada slim is a great gun , but it felt me a little weight on the top middle and unbalanced in my hand. That os my impression. But the grip is very good
It works for me. In fact, it’s on my belt as I type this. Thanks for watching!
Very nice video. Good shooting!
I have the same problem with the 365 mag my hand gets in the way
Like I said in the video, I suspect this is a common problem that nobody talks about.
Good luck!
Good Practices and Shootin'

@@hrfunk Welcome , I told my pops about the Masada he was unfamiliar with but will look it up now , but loves his Hellcat.
Id go with IWI...
Well done video
Thank you!
Mine has been completely reliable in terms of its functioning, and it uses easy to find magazines (CZ75 pattern).
brother! what red dot is that?
It’s a Mecanik.
@@hrfunk thanks 🙏🏻
For me - a fairly new shooter, the Masada 9S is a lot better than the Hellcat. I had a lot of trouble keeping the Hellcat on target.
That’s surprising. I always thought the Hellcat shot pretty well for such a small pistol.
Wish you had done the Masada without the red dot.
I did in my original review, but in this video I wanted to test both pistols as I carry them.
Agreed.
As always, a meticulous review. The grouping of the Masada looks much tighter, so overall it seems you shoot better with the relatively newer firearm. Enjoy them both, stay safe, and regards to all. Paul in Masada country.
Thanks Paul!
My Hellcat is crazy accurate. I shoot it better than some guns that are much larger.
It’s Major Chip Hazard from Small Soldiers…!!! lOl
You won’t be surprised to learn I hear that quite frequently.
I honestly believe your hellcat is not representative of the performance of most hellcats. Of the 5 of shot only one performed well.
I have shot another one, of the same vintage as mine, and it shot the same. Perhaps SAI has changed something over the years.
Add the MC2sc...
?
To the comparison..
You can't be serious, all the gun rags say you need the new mega blaster. Seriously, since leaving my 50's behind, those irons are harder to use every day.
I can still use them in good light, but that front sight continues to get fuzzier.
It literally seems to boil down to fundamentals... Good shooters shoot well, regardless of firearm. Maybe marginally better with one or another, but not generally significantly different either way.
Getting shot in your girdle must really hurt.
I wouldn't want to get shot there. Then again, I don't know where I would want to be shot.
