I don’t think I’ve seen any other animatics mentioning the king and queen as her parents. And I love Star’s personality in this. What a great meet cute
Star: "Are you ready to grant some wishes?" Me: "With a magic wand that looks pointy enough to be mistaken for a short golden dagger? Nah, man! I need to ask you a couple of questions first."
I love the concept, of people giving their wishes to the king and queen in exchange for protection and free lodgings, but what motivates Magnifico and Amaya to take those wishes in the first place? You could just say it's because they're power hungry, and I guess that COULD work, but in that case I want to know WHY they're power hungry. I like to see villains who have a compelling backstory to them. I like to have a reason that the bad guy is Evil, as opposed to just having them be Evil for the sake of it.
Bingo! Power. A lot of old Disney villains do things purely because they’re power hungry. I explain Magnifico’s and Amaya’s motives more in my description, so please check that out. :)
I saw something in a different comment section that I thought was a really cool idea! So King Magnifico used magic to grant himself a wish either for A. His wife to return to him after she had died or B. A wife in general and he needed other people's wishes to keep Queen Amaya "up and running" so to speak.

@@birthstone3535In my own rewrite, I have it so that one’s wish represents one’s deepest - their hopes, dreams, and motivations, and is is through harnessing those feelings that one’s able to cast magic. In the same rewrite, Amaya is also a wishing star, but a corrupted one that went rogue, and who’s wishes always have consequences that come with them, something she does for her own enjoyment. Many years ago she granted Magnifico’s wish, to become the strongest sorcerer in the world to get revenge on the bandits who massacred his village, but it came at a cost - the magic he was granted was so strong it could not be sustained on his wish alone, and risked tearing him apart from the inside if he kept tapping in on it because his mortal body literally cannot sustain the sheer power kept inside him. So together, with his new love the fallen star, who’s the real force behind the wishes he does grant, again always imbued with some grave consequence, he founded Rosas to serve as a sort of “wish farm”, a place where he could metaphorically suck the livelihoods from anyone who fell into his plan to sustain his near cosmic level of power, as he had been driven mad with it. Both win in this scenario - Magnifico gets a near endless power supply for his boundless magic, and Amaya gets the joy of seeing people’s wishes backfire spectacularly.
Asha's expressions crack me up, I love her momentary reaction to Aster first announcing himself as the star! This is an interesting way to characterize him, still kind and helpful but gosh darn it if his Wish Grantee can't give him the same courtesy and respect, lol!
The movie’s Valentino design doesn’t make me want to buy him, despite him obviously being a marketable plushie character. But this. I would buy this Valentino. And I would put him on my shelf of other… unique… plushies. And I would smile every time I saw him.
This is beatiful! Since the trailer I thought that Magnifico would drain the energy of everyone in the kingdom when they gave him their wishes but nooo that didn't happen 😒. Also I love your personification of "Star Boy" I wish( pun intented) he existed in the movie.
You have successfully made me fall in love with a fictional character in 2 minutes 😭 this is BEAUTIFULLY well done!! The music on top of this is perfect
Just imagine the beautiful love story these two could of had if they got a chance. From two completely different worlds. But in the end, it wasn't meant to be, as the boy returns to the stars...after giving the love of his life a wand imbued with his magic - so they can still be connected.
You know, I wonder if Asha and Star Boy start out with that dynamic from the animatic, and then as the story progresses, it leads to the "At All Costs" moment and animatics I've seen here. Talk about character development!
This looks so good, I can already see the story that you are trying to tell with Wish! Like, this should’ve happened! When are you going to do more? I’m up for ideas if you need any more!
I’ve said this before in my social medias and I’ll say it again, this fanbase is gonna be similar to Miraculous Ladybug’s fanbase because the fan content is better then the official one.
(squeals) 😁😍I LOVE IT! I love all these different animations with differnet ways of how asha could've met star. This one is definitely one of my favs now.😍😊 This feels more Disney, i love the "umm, rude much?" part😆
I like to imagine that King Magnifico keeps some wishes because magical powers can (ironically), only do so much. But, if he wants the people to adore him and respect him, he needs the wishes. I imagine that maybe, he even goes as far as to threaten some people that disagree with his views or wish to leave Rosas, claiming he will destroy their wishes forever should they do so. Imagine if destroying someone's wish makes them forget they even had a wish to begin with? Taking it from someone only makes them forget what they wished for, but they still remember they wanted something... Disney could have done so many things with this movie.
Since this your own opinion , so I don't mind since this is excellent animation but I had to tell in the concept art, Starboy's name is Earendel because because it means "morning star" or "dawn" and also most distant star of all cosmos as dawn symbolizes notions of hope and illumination which almost matched with Asha means "hope".
My wish version is that there's a family connection (between Asha's family and King Magnífico/Queen Amaya) but they don't know that they are related until the film events (although grandpa might known or at least knew at one point. Maybe dad too if he is important to the story details). Grandpa or dad walked out on the royal family and settled down in peasant lifestyle. Sakina herself might not even knew that she married royalty or that her daughter is one possible choice to the throne. In other words, she battle with long lost evil uncle and evil aunt. Maybe have the friends eventually help her take over the kingdom? According to someone online the starboy's name was supposedly going to be Earendel. If you look up the name it means "the morning star" or "the dawn." I could see two different but interesting romantic relationships here. I feel that Earendel is the more carefree and confident one while Asha is shy but intelligent. However, when things goes wrong their roles kinda switch a bit. Earendel reveals to actually have a wise side underneath his cockiness and he kinda help Asha be more confident in herself. The two actually have something in common which is that both of them are family oriented but the different is that Asha also cares about her friends and community. Seeing this kinda help Earendel open up his heart more toward to total strangers. As for Magnifico and Amaya, I do not wish for some kind of betrayal between them. They are both completely confident and comfortable about their relationship. They're the only ones who relies on each other so that show lot of trust in one another. They are kinda like Gomez/Morticia or Clyde/Bonnie. They will fight and they will die together. It would be interesting to have a broken family only they don't know they are related but it's not the usual type of you would find such as Tangled or Lion King. Asha actually grow up with a happy childhood. She have fond memories of her dead dad, is doted by her mom and grandpa and have bunch of good friends. But despite having a bookish and shy personality when she find out that her kingdom is in danger, she find herself on a spiritual journey that will test her more than she knew about herself. As for why I think the family connection would be a interesting twist is that here Asha think she is simply fighting evil royals and then in the end she find out that she is actually related to them. Kinda would makes her conflicted on both what to do and how to handle this. Would makes it kinda like a test whether if she going to go ahead and willingly to destroyed them in order to protect others in the kingdom, her grandpa and mom or not.
@@jfk-t9o I made Asha's late father as Magnifico's long lost nephew as a inspiration of the Lion king because his mother who is the past queen sacrificed her life to save him by leaving him in the doorstep of Sabino when he was a baby.
