Milly and Molly is one of the best games I've ever played on C64. So addictive (if frustrating at times). Carleton Handley makes great games. I also loved his Runn & Gunn. I played Mario and Sonic to death when they came out also, but currently the game I'm enjoying most is Icicle Race, a conversion of the NES Fire and Ice. Great puzzle game.
I'm only 50 minutes in and I've already added so many titles to my wish list. It's incredible the quality of some of these releases. Thanks for putting this together Bastich B!
Your video has transported me back to the golden era of C64 gaming, and it's the perfect complement to the snowy and frosty weather here in Finland. I'm looking forward to spending the Christmas break with these games, enjoying the cozy atmosphere with a cup of mulled wine and the delightful taste of gingerbread cookies. Thanks again for the nostalgic journey!
Great video. I have played many of the games featured in this material, but have some catching up left to do. 39:50 - Organism. I was looking for this game but couldn't remember the title. Thank you for reminding me. 2:41:38 - Nice easter egg. 🙂
Super cool you made this! It's a good year for it too I suppose. Haven't watched it all yet but it highlights so many great games to discover. Everybody would rank them somewhat differently I guess but that's the beauty of it; this is a great anthology. Cheers!
Thx , yeah the order is subjective but kinda irrelevant really , as long as people discover new C64 games to play thats all that matters. Cheers for watching 🕹️👍
Amazing video as usual and will need to re-watch this weekend just to take it all in. This must have taken you AGES to make! Hadn't played Runn-n-Gunn yet but will definitely need to. Polar Bear did get a great upgrade on cartridge and agree is VERY playable now. Hoping their black edition comes out soon because I hear there will be new music with it. A Pig Quest is a work of art. Many more possibilities now with the big cartridges that store so much data!
I assume "fuel" was changed to "oil" because the sprites have a lower horizontal resolution and he couldn't fit the letters "FUEL" on the side of the tanks.
Really enjoying this. regarding the Scramble v1.14 conundrum. It is just a guess but could it be purely due to the number of pixels available for the FUEL dump sprite? OIL Could be created from 8 pixels and FUEL would need more.
Great list. I have about 15 that I really want to try this weekend. For me Metal Warrior Ultra is a top 3 game with Steel Ranger being a top 10 but love your highlights. Still waiting on Protovision to sort out the issues with the physical release before I play Pigs Quest. Tiny Quest and Nixy, the Glade Sprite would be on my list too.
Amazing that we're coming into 2024 and the games keep coming for all Retro computers and 16 bit consoles. My personal number one would be Eye of the beholder, an amazing feat and a favourite game on the Amiga and PC. I would also put the stunning Commando and Ghost n Goblins arcade conversions into the top 10, hopefully they will do more of these type of conversations. Here's to 2024 and beyond.
Excellent compilation video as per your usual very high standard. You’re truly one of my favorite retro gaming channels. In addition to all of the excellent games, I really like the “aw shucks” humility at the end of the video where you say what’s really most important is what’s our favorite games, and that this list could serve as a guide. I really like that a lot. Thanks much!
Just a brilliant compendium of contemporary 64 games. Fantastic research, game testing and discussion from the best c64 Sensei out there....BastichB 64K. Thankyou kindly.
A really enjoyable 4 hours! Had it going in the background while I painted some miniatures. Great fun stuff, and loads of new c64 games for me to check out!
Fantastic work as always mate! - Wow! - such a huge video! - I'm having to enjoy it in shorter blasts, but just wow!... Hugely informative and entertaining (not to mention eye opening!) as always, and thank you for bringing all of these great releases to our attention - I'm aware of some of them, but many are new, and even the ones that I knew about are given a wonderful highlight, making me want to try them ALL out! Keep up the great work, too bad I can only subscribe and like once! :( EDIT: Love the outro SID track! - will have to grab that, what a great C64 rendition of the original!!
What an insane video BastichB, you've really outdone yourself here. So many games I wanna try out. 13 year old me would be blown away playing some of these games 30years ago!
Again an awesome video from Bastich B 64k! So many great games that i dont have enough time to try them all out! Also still checking older games that i missed when i was young.
I finally managed to watch the entire episode, I was astonished to find out that we share the love for the same game and a very similar destiny about it: few years ago I played again some old C64 games (Lightforce's music was still in my head since I was 4) on Vice for the first time since childhood, then I stumbled upon new games,I played Knight n Grail and I find it so beautiful I decided to buy a real C64 (then a new power adapter, then new video cables, then a few new tapes, then a SD2IEC, then a Ultimate II, then mods, then new c64s, etc.) I'm writing down lists about new C64 games (ports, clones, remakes, homages, sequels) reimagening a C64 launch and this video was full of infos, thanks! It would be interesting a serie of videos about all these new developers and publishers.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Bastich and all the people from Psytronik.PS.: The keyboard issue of C64 Mini is annoying. Is there somebody selling some working keyboard set for C64 mini that I could instal? I am no 8bit guy nor Adrian to create something like that on my own. Thanks ❤❤❤

Man, if someone could answer this question for me they would tick something off my bucket list :D I'm trying to remember a C64 game from my childhood. It had "sorcerer" somewhere in the title (I think?!) it was a side scrolling platformer. Must've been some time around '85-'90? The thing I remember most is that you had different weapons as the game progressed. The art style (at least as I remember it?) was somewhat similar to Ghouls'N'Ghosts if that helps any. I'm not expecting a miracle by any stretch but I figured I'd give it a shot :D Also, thanks for the awesome video :)
