- Can 500 Players beat a factorio death world? It turns out managing a swarm of 500 players can actually make the game more difficult! Factorio is a fantastic strategy and simulation game all about managing a growing factory in the face of a growing opposition to your own constructed factorio. Now today The Spiffing Brit Will be discovering if Factorio Is A Perfectly Balanced Game With No Exploits! We will be testing to see if with 500 Players in multiplayer we can speedrun the game faster than anyone else has! The current world record for a factorio multiplayer speed run is just under 2 hours! So logically if we slightly exploit the system by bringing in an extra 500 players we should be able to cheese that and win rather easily! Well naturally we will discover the power of the incredible massive multiplayer experience and watch 500 players build the best factory ever. With minimal efficiency of course due to just our massive numbers.
This video game exploit video will be jam packed with a best bits funny moments montage style of editing similar to that of Valefisk, Robbaz and RTgame. So sit back relax and grab a cup of tea to enjoy with the spiffing brit!

An interesting coincidence for a sever being run like a 40K deathworld penal colony.
It makes me hope that the Factorio expansion pack includes optimizations to allow this level of multiplayer on normal hardware. 1000+ people racing to build rogue nukes just sounds amazing.
Factorio is already a very well build game and optimized game.
It's already amazing that this game can support 500 concurrent players on a single machine.

@@tubthungusbychumbungus this reminds me of Majesty, a game where you are the king and don't directly control units. Depending on their class they're driven by different things, so even putting bounties on a monster won't directly scale how much they're likely to kill it for every class.

My kind sir I watched it on 4 times speed so if I had watched it at normal speed I would have had 56 jammy dodgers and 28 cups of tea.
It's a lot like the old 90s RTS Majesty. Instead of directly telling units what to do, you place rewards on targets and areas to explore to get your fighters to go get them.
Spiff's vocabulary has evolved as well: "RunRunRunRunRun" "MineMineMineMineMine" "YeetYeetYeetYeetYeet"

...Like a horde of locusts they descended, evolving fast and more and more numerous, they kept on attacking our defenses in suicide waves, they had to be dealt with before they became unmanageable... ...thank god the nests held up and the human swarm as defeated before they could do too much damage.
At this point i really wanna know what the specs of the stronger server will look like :D

Spiff, look into the game_speed configuration option for servers. I suggest setting this to something lower than 1.0 (like between 0.8 and 0.9), this should grant the server enough time to process, allow other players to keep playing and perhaps help a bit. A 10% reduction will be barely noticeable.
I bet that 30% of the players in that base were actually working, while the 70% walks around doing nothing 😂😂

You should do one with all the biter options set to max, maybe except for a large starting area since there are so many people. A full playthrough of that would be extremely entertaining.

For the next server game, you should unlock all the research up to a certain point (like all red and green reseach) and have a basic factory and small set up for people to rapidly expand. Also make sure to include the research queue.
Also I have no idea how mods work in server games, but you should give some QOL mods like Squeeze through. Also you should just give yourself Spidertron to drive around to lord over your players.
