I remember so many nights camping out, frying taters and fish, pumping up a Coleman lantern, just sitting back on the bank watching the tip of our rods but usually getting sidetracked by the milky-way and stars. Those things that were taken for granted by a young boy, not knowing how good we really had it. The Bible says to not store up your treasures on earth, and God is a good God. Those memories with people we loved and who loved us, but are now long gone. Those are the real treasures that can't be taken from you.
It is always nice to see you and Matt just standing there drinking your wake up beverage... just taking in the morning, in all its glory....no words needed, just a shared peace and quiet enjoyment. Nothing beats that.... nothing. Greeting the day as a family is always nice as well, when your girls join in. Bless y'all for sharing!
The sound of that Coleman stove running brings back memories from my childhood. It is amazing how a sound can take you right back to a place in time many years ago. I still have my Coleman stove that I bought in 1969. It has a red tank. Hasn’t been used since probably 1972.
Thanks for letting us go to the cookout with you! That really looked fun, and it was all in the privacy of your own back yard! You guys know how to live and be fulfilled!
Great Job Matt! Good Camping, and Bush crafting! One suggestion, for your fire pit, have you ever made a jet log stove set up? You us a log the diameter of your fire pit with a chain saw cross cut in it! The log is level on both ends, and you brake in with rocks around the log! Light it up, and your toast! If you set a piece of soap stone on the top you can cook off it as well! Great job.
Thankyou all once again. I don't think there is anything more peaceful and apt to bring out stories than a campfire. I love watching your special place and all the beautiful bush colours
I admit that your video today has made me cry a little happily at the memories that came back to me. Watching Matt pump the lantern to move the fuel up and then light the little socks made me think of the days when we went camping when I was a child. Every night in our camper, my dad would play a game with us called 'dunk the light'. He would start to turn the lantern out and just as it nearly went out he would turn the gas up again and brighten it and we would holler 'dunk the light, daddy, dunk the light'! And your Coleman stove... oh gosh...in the days when we went camping, you had to pump the stove again like Matt did to get the gas to move to the burners and then light it. How my parents managed to cook meals on that delightful little stove for seven children and two adults I'll never know
Dad used to roust us out of bed early and we’d head for a state park. He’d cook breakfast or hot dogs and beans and fried potatoes. Sometimes it would be so cold I would keep my glued hand in my left pocket while I ate with my right hand (also gloved). That food tasted so delicious! There was so much laughing and conversation while we ate. Then we would go for a hike. Thanks for sharing! ❤
I love the father daughter early morning conversation. What a great way to start the say. You are rocking these videos💥Katie is absorbing some wonderful history and appreciating it.
Good morning thank you for letting us join you for breakfast and listening to your memories of yesterday's,it was enjoyable video.Hope you all have a good day.Matt's breakfast really looked good!!😋👍
Gosh this reminds me of camping with my family when I was young and Dad always cooked breakfast on a Coleman stove. So many wonderful memories and it was the best tasting bacon and eggs!
I am, in no way, shape or form, a person who enjoys the outdoors life, but I have nothing but respect for those who do. I would have gladly eaten a breakfast as you prepared in this video, but the breakfast I would invite you to share would be cooked in a nice, warm kitchen. By the way, we had our first killin' frost this morning.
Thanks for this; it made my day. For the first 11 years of my life, my family spent summers in a rural agricultural village in Mexico, where there was no running water or electricity. For the first 8 years we had no propane, either. Every morning I would wake to the sound of my dad pumping the Coleman stove to get the coffee on. And for most of my life, that sound has accompanied many of the best, happiest times of my life. Before I became disabled, my husband and I went camping 8 or 9 times a year. The memories are so strong, all the times I've stood clutching a cup of coffee and warming myself by a morning fire as daylight rose, that I felt I was right there beside you. I'm glad y'all recognize that those times are worth the work it takes to make them happen, and I hope the memories will warm your old age.
Oh my mercy! Watching Matt light the lantern & the Coleman stove brought back so many good memories! Daddy had showed me when I was fairly young how to light the lantern & the stove, but never let me unless he was with me. Him & mama loved cooking on the stove when we were out camping or just to do it at home cause food tasted so good! Daddy would fix a 3-stick stand similar to a T-Pee & he would hang a pot off it so mama could cook beans or something, and always, always had a coffee pot going! Those were such awesome family times shared with my oldest sister, brother-in-law, their 3 girls & my sister that's close to me. You don't really know how much you miss something until you're unable to do it & those who made it possible are long gone. I love the memories y'all continue to bring back to me! Hugs and blessings from VA! 🔥🪵🍳🥓☕🍞
Love this episode of pure nostalgia! Can't begin to count the meals I've cooked on a Coleman stove (or on an open fire) in years past. The aroma of Matt's barefoot coffee reached me all the way out here in Wyoming. And the sizzle of the sausage patties cooking before Matt added the eggs was enough to get my mouth watering. Mmmmmm, good!
What memories of taking my kids camping when they were young. I could even remember the smell the white gas of the stove. Always loved that dark early morning time. Getting the coffee pot going & making breakfast. thank you!
Can’t beat a two burner classic Coleman stove! Sounds like Katie wants y’all to go camping, (maybe after winter😊) when you said you heard whistling I thought I was going to hear a Sasquatch story😳 you guys are so fun!🌻💛🌻
It must be wonderful to live right next to the woods, and be able to go out and build a fire whenever you want. You are lucky! Thanks for letting us share this bit of your lives.
Tipper and Matt, y'all live in one of the most beautiful places on this earth! The rhododendrons as your back drop, surrounded by the beautiful trees 🥰 You are truly blessed to live in such a place! As my daughter always says, I couldn't live in a place without trees. So thankful to be a part of Appalachia! God bless and take care!
Ohhh, I'm in Heaven! Early morning coffee and breakfast by the campfire! And this crazy world fades away for alittle awhile! Thank you for letting me tag along!!
Oh my, this brings back memories of our camping trips when I was a child. It was our family tradition. We didn't have much money, so we never went on vacations or out to eat. We mostly ate beans, cornbread, and fried potatoes. But camping was different. My favorite part was gathering wood for the fire as soon as we arrived. We would head into the woods by the river with my parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and Great Grandma Barnes. They would cook fish and breakfast on the Coleman stove, make coffee in the percolator, and we would all gather around the fire. Those were the best years of my life. I never felt poor because we had so much fun eating delicious food outdoors, fishing, swimming, and exploring the woods. Food always tasted better outside for some reason. Thank you for bringing back those precious memories of my family and camping. I'm only 47, and everyone except my dad, siblings, and cousins are no longer with us. I would give anything to be a young girl again, gathering wood and feeling important. Watching my family cook, chat, and enjoy the outdoors. It brings tears to my eyes this morning, thinking about those times and the people we've lost. Cherish every moment you have together. I can feel a strong connection to you all, like family. Thank you for sharing your life and history, Tipper. You are more special than you realize. Thank you

There's something special about having an outdoor breakfast cooked on a Coleman, & sitting by a fire on a brisk morning. The food tastes better. That sound the stove makes. Yes, good food, good company, even with the chickens there. Thanks for letting us sit round the fire with y'all. 😀
In the '60s, going on summer vacation (from Texas to my aunt's in Key West) there were no fast food places. Mom and dad had the car loaded up with a Coleman stove just like that one, a metal Coleman cooler, and a matching Coleman water jug. Old percolator, too. We would get on the road before dawn and stop and cook breakfast just after the sun came up. One of my favorite breakfasts was in the Smokies one morning at sunrise. Traveling in style! Daddy would say if your nose isn't running, then the sausage isn't hot enough.
Matt, I cooked on one of those stoves when my friend Emily and I camped out at the beach. That was a major accomplishment for a "spoiled little girl", back in 1995. I loved it.🧡
I feel like I’m sitting around that campfire with y’all, I had an accident 2 weeks ago and broke my back 😢 I appreciate your videos , it will enjoyably make the weeks ahead better 💖
Father and daughter early morning conversation reminds me of going fishing with my dad. Didn’t like Barbies but I loved this! Makes me miss my parents ❤
I know the sausage Matt is talking about, that’s why, we always ate Jimmy Dean’s mild or Bob Evan’s Mild Sausage, always loved that little hint of red pepper in it, McDonald’s used to have it and, that’s why, I always liked getting a couple of Sausage Biscuits there, but, they ended up doing away with that sausage. God bless you and hope you enjoyed your day!
We camped all 3 months of summer vacation. My Dad worked during the week then joined my Mom, brother and I on Fri to Sunday. We had a tent and hung blankets around three or four trees then put a wash tub in it to bath. We cooked over the grate on the campfire or a Coleman Stove. After about 3 years my parents bought a little trailer. We thought it was a castle. My Dad died two years later and we never went again but it sure is good memories. Nothing better than fried trout or catfish, fried eggs and potatoes for breakfast. Thanks for bringing that back to me. ❤❤
I can't tell you just how many sandwiches I have had exactly like the ones you had. Sitting around the fire and just being with the ones you love just talking and enjoying each other. The memories are still there though. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family for a little while . Bless you all.
I really enjoyed this. I'll be getting out in the woods soon and cooking on a campfire. The food seems to taste better and it's so relaxing to sit around the fire at night. Also, I've made a batch of ginger and a batch of blueberry kefir water with your recipe Tipper. It is delicious!
Matt must be some kind of tough to handle hot cast iron barehanded😊After watching your video we had to have breakfast for supper.Thank y’all for bringing up so many fond memories.
That was absolutely enjoyable! The food and the coffee looked fantastic! Y’all were in exquisite company and made a sweet, memory! Katie will one day feel soothed and comforted when she recalls sitting there on a very cold, early morning eating a breakfast that her dad cooked and sitting by a toasty fire talking about another day gone by. Thank y’all for sharing!!!
What a great way to wake up this morning. Having my coffee watching your beautiful family. You are all very blessed. Thank you for sharing your stories. Many of us don't have much family left these days. ❤
This reminds me of all our family camping trips. Cooking on a Coleman stove and a Coleman lantern to see to cook breakfast and later fried taters and pinto beans and hush puppies. My Dad,Mom, brother and sister are all dead now and I really miss that family fun. I never thought my younger sister and brother would pass before me. Then mom died 2 yrs ago and my dad this April. Watching y'all brings back such fond memories. That you for letting us into your lives.
@Yvonne, that's interesting about your family, I've got the same situation. Parents and younger sibling are all passed. Great memories of tent camping at the lake, big skillet of potatoes and onions after setting up camp. Fun times.
Good Evening Guys! Look’s like Matt Cooked A Good Breakfast! Nothing like Food Cooked in an Iron Skillet outside & Eating Breakfast around A Campfire , talking & Making Memories! Great Video! You Guys have a Blessed Day! 🍁🍁🍂🍂🇺🇸🇺🇸
How fun to camp right outside the door! Love it. And, it feels like you are camping deep in the woods. Such a wonderful thing to do with your family! ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I watched this when you had it on before, I really enjoy it every time I see it. Thanks so much for letting us have breakfast with you around the fire. I like these old videos. God bless,
Oh my goodness, what fun, what fun!! I've done plenty of Coleman stove and lantern camping. But not in a looong time. Did 30 days, tent camping 🏕️ across the northern US and Canadian Rockies. Matt's right, camping is great as long as you can stay warm and dry. Thanks for the memories. Kept thinking that stove fire was going to be blue...and sure enough! Love the campfire. 🔥 This was a great video treat.
Sometimes it’s fun to sit down and remember all those family camping trips out. My family used to do camping trips out when I was a kid as well and I have a lot of those memories in my mind.
Y’all are a real sweet family! My deep roots are in East Tennessee. Grew up in Texas. Believe me, I know every bite of what you cook! The country needs to see these things… it’s a great idea you had, putting your channel together. Thank you, I know it’s a lot of work. I am letting my friends know 👍🏻
I was born into a Duke’s family! I was always excited to go to my grandparents house because they had Hellmann’s mayonnaise! We children loved to eat mayonnaise sandwiches with nothing else on them!
living done right haha when she said this is a good place to be if you're hungry i felt that in my heart and soul awesome video love the outdoors and scenery makes me wanna sit out there round the fire enjoy me some strong coffee also great seeing how happy excited he was talking bout the stove haha how he has alot of memories etc. my son he is none and usually this time of year he loves it when i cook and make chilli over the fire.
Went horseback riding a few months ago for the first time in 35 years , at a riding stable in Cades Cove. A gentle riding experience for a grandmother. Bought my first Coleman's stove with Green stamps Tipper back in the early eighties for my husband's Father's day gift. Sweet remembrance's ! The best of camping is cooking outside with the family all around the camp fire. We have a Pop-up camper now ,had to give up the tents , because of age . Thank you 💕
Breakfast campfires are the best way to start the day. I never had horses; I had almost everything else, but they are beautiful animals. Everyone has a great day.
This sure brings back memories with my family. To me there was nothing that tasted better than campout cooking. I enjoyed watching this. I remember daddy making toast over fire on a iron grate covered in foil. He would butter the bread on one side lay them on the foil. When I got married we had our first son, Lee. We went camping he was about 3 years old. We was frying smoked bacon in a iron skittlet. He kept messing around with a stick around in the fire. We kept telling him not to do that. He cause the skittlet to turn over and bacon fail into the ashes. We got them out cleaned them off. We just couldn't afford to lose them and we sit down to eat. Lee got a strip of bacon was eating it. He said mom this bacon is good ashes and all. Lol
awe but ya'll are living the best of the rich life!! that breakfast looked amazing!! Tipper, I love my coffee with half and half but that Postom sure looked good. that was so funny Matt said he always did like them chickens hahaha. The family chats around the fire are so enjoyable, it's almost like we are right there with ya'll. I wish we could get some good sausage these days.

It's really great how you reminisce about life when it was simpler and the things we took for granted. These modern times are a lot more complicated.
Fifty years ago our wedding gifts were a green Coleman tent, stove and lantern. Still remember how good that bacon and eggs smelled outdoors.☺️
Great gifts!
I guess it had to be the best of all wedding gifts. God bless

Funny -good food, good company!! Yep! Always DID like them chickens!! Hahaha 😂
That was funny! 😂
😀
What a great way to wake up this morning. Having my coffee watching your beautiful family. You are all very blessed. Thank you for sharing your stories. Many of us don't have much family left these days. ❤
What you and your family share there in the cold in the edge of your yard is priceless. You all are rich beyond measure.. I envy you.
We are blessed! Thank you Ellen 😀
Fun times.
Yvonne-I'm sorry you lost them too soon!! So glad we remind you of those good times 😀
Our 50 year old Coleman finally wore out and we bought a new one. We use it during power outages since our camping days are over.
They work great for that too 😀
Good Evening Guys!
The fall leaves are beautiful. Thank you! 😊
Glad you like them!
Wow what a wonderful life. This family knows how to live.
this video made me so emotional - my dad would always do the cooking on the coleman stove when we camped. there was always a pound of bacon cooking.
Some of the best smells in the world right there.
I agree 😀 Thank you for watching!
I watched this when you had it on before, I really enjoy it every time I see it. Thanks so much for letting us have breakfast with you around the fire. I like these old videos. God bless,
Brings back found memories
I am letting my friends know 👍🏻
Enjoy seeing the Coleman pump gas stove is still going strong.
Matt loves it 😀
I was born into a Duke’s family!
I was always excited to go to my grandparents house because they had Hellmann’s mayonnaise!
We children loved to eat mayonnaise sandwiches with nothing else on them!
We used to eat them too Terry 😀 Thank you for watching!!
I grew up cooking on the Coleman stoves, even had an oven for it. The lanterns are so great! What a wonderful video and morning.
You said that about papaws sausage…
Ive always thought a good charcutcherie business here would do well. Ship it or sells it local or both.
Thank you Sandra!!
Ain't nothing like outdoor cooking!
So true 😀
I used to have one of those Coleman stoves when us boys would go camping. Great memories. Thanks. Rick Smith. That sausage looks wonderful
That’s so funny about the tour bus and Matt’s escapade with the druggies on the mountain. I love to hear Matt’s stories, he is so animated and funny!
We love doing this in the Ozark mountains as well.
lol and Katie quarreling with the chickens reminds me of me trying to reason with animals. I love Katie.
living done right haha when she said this is a good place to be if you're hungry i felt that in my heart and soul awesome video love the outdoors and scenery makes me wanna sit out there round the fire enjoy me some strong coffee also great seeing how happy excited he was talking bout the stove haha how he has alot of memories etc. my son he is none and usually this time of year he loves it when i cook and make chilli over the fire.
Thank you for watching! So glad you enjoyed this one 😀
Thank you 💕
Thank you Myrtha 😀
I remember the stamps! My Mom used to save em and we would go pick out something.
Thank you for sharing breakfast with us.
Yall got a good husband and daddy. That crack about the chickens being good company. I am still laughing. God bless.
Just wonderful , love watching these videos
"You could get the air let out of you". I've never heard that turn of phrase before. It's a great description.
Glad you liked it! 😀
Absolutely Awesome,and Conversations
Yummy Food
We still use a coleman stove all the time when we camp. My husband has it down to an art. Can't beat the old ways.
Thank you for sharing your lives with us. Every time I watch one of your families videos I come away, feeling truly blessed thank you.
Thank you so much 😊
That's the leanest sausage I've seen and the orange yolks in those eggs! I can smell Matt's coffee, it's all so vivid. Yum! Have a great day😀
You all are the perfect example of a light upon a hill that cannot be hidden
You are so kind-thank you!!
Another great video! What a beautiful spot! X
Lol
Great story 😀
That looks like such a peaceful, beautiful place to live……
awe but ya'll are living the best of the rich life!! that breakfast looked amazing!! Tipper, I love my coffee with half and half but that Postom sure looked good. that was so funny Matt said he always did like them chickens hahaha. The family chats around the fire are so enjoyable, it's almost like we are right there with ya'll. I wish we could get some good sausage these days.
❤ I can literally smell this video! ❤
