    For $400 what's not to like ? Cant complain for that sort of money , not overly big , quite chunky , and a nice bracelet. If I was just starting out , I'd buy one. Cool.

    I’ve had that tolerance issue on a few bracelets from different brands. I find putting them in the freezer (off the case) to contract the metal helps a lot of the time.

    Another great review Peter. I agree with the point you made about the short minute hand. I think the upside of the tight fitting links is that perhaps the bracelet does not rattle. Thanks for your review.

    Thank you Pete for another terrific review. Brilliant piece from Phoibos, just wish it was a tad smaller. Other than size, I think the case design is lovely, beautiful dial, great lume, like the date at 6pm, and also like the bracelet design. Overall great specs and very good value for money at $400. Thank you again for sharing and have a great day 👍👏🙌

    I must say I am bias to Phoibos watches (I already have two) and hope to have a 3rd with the "Eagle Ray" (red dial) at some point in the future.
    Their build is excellent, specs are spot on and that price point is really reasonable for what you get. They are often on the larger side but that's what I like about them. - Thanks for sharing this Narwal model, great find.

  • @derbagger22

    This is what is so annoying to me about Phoibos. They are always so close to great but something is always off. I bought the burgundy dial Voyager 3 and adore the dial. Love the bracelet, love the 39 mm dimensions. Love the 12 hour bezel. But, with the Seiko movement, it's nearly 14mm thick and sits on top of my wrist. It's unattractive sitting so high off the wrist. Gorgeous watch and I never wear it. Then I see this behemoth yet it's less than 13mm thick. Why, Phoibos?

    • @hewiebecker6165
      @hewiebecker6165 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @hewiebecker6165
      @hewiebecker6165 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@derbagger22 the Seiko movement is cheaper but the Miyota has a higher beat rate. This Phoibos and my NTH are both around $500, while any and all seiko powered Phoibos (Phobii?) tend to be $300.
      But I'll concede that the Phoibos do tend to make their watches slightly too big, while the sizing for this watch is absolutely perfect for my wrist, the styling may have worked with slightly smaller dimensions especially with how thin the movement is

    • @derbagger22
      @derbagger22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hewiebecker6165 i know that. My point is why let a great watch be ruined by it's thickness? I think this watch being reviewed should have the Seiko and be cheaper while the Voyager should be the premium offering with proper dimensions.

    The proportions of this overall octagonal case shape also reminiscent of Makina's seminal (at least to their own niche) approach to watch case design.

    • @benjaminvis
      @benjaminvis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should add, I really like these more unusual case sizes and the changes on the finish look really convincing in your images. What surprises me is that lug to lug of 50.1. That seems too large when you look at how tight at least the lugs seem with the case, which is 41mm. This appears to correspond relatively well to my Straum. At 41mm it's my largest watch and likely will remain so, as it's pushing things for me personally. However, they managed a smidgen under 47mm lug to lug with this integrated lug design. I'm wondering were the additional girth on this Phoibos comes from.

    Personally love this one, as a fellow reviewer of Phoibos I was disappointed not to be chosen for this model given my absolute passion for 70s watches. I would find it hard to get a negative out of it. Will most likely pick one up for that simple reason it’s like a 70s Seiko. Glad you could see the similarity too as I did instantly when I saw it on their “coming soon”

    In my opinion this 70s style caseshape would pair much better if all the dimensions were much more compact, like 2mm or so. Imagine this at 39mm, 47ish l2l, around 11-12mm thick, and yes I know it would mean they compromise the water resistance but I think anyone would be okay with half of this(15ATM). The bracelet could also be 20mm to 16mm taper. Would be much more wearable, I don't like to wear anything over 150grams.
