You know what I love about your interviews......you bring out their soul, not the famous person, but the real soul of the person. I love that!!!!! This was an amazing interview.
I was interested more in his positive comments about Spencer Tracy. I've seen the movie, "Fury" that he is referring to. Burton is right, Spencer Tracy was brilliant.
My all time favorite Richard Burton scene....in Cleopatra when he finally tells her off. He lived longer than many with his hard life style....RIP to a legend.
I simply can’t imagine being married to Elizabeth Taylor, twice, no less!!!! Some guys have all the luck!!! And yet, he cut it short, with the bottle!!!! Tragic!!!
Dick is the BEST interviewer. PS I thought the wife he was referring to was Elizabeth. But they were long divorced. It's funny how she eclipses all of his paramours. Now they are both in heaven together maybe, no more. problems?
Thanks Dick for all your great interviews & posting them here. Mr. Burton was indeed a treasure & sadly left us too soon, along with many others.
To have had Burton through the 80s, 90s and 00s (and even beyond) would have been a real gift. It’s so sad that he died so young.
He truly loved and admired her...😊🥺
I agree... Richard's words about Elizabeth were prophetic. She will go down in "herstory" as one of the best to have ever graced the silver screen.
@@MaeCheek3 History.
Liz and Dick's life was in papers or on tv my whole youth!!! LOVE THEM BOTH❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful voice he had.
Hey!... Richard showed so much emotion thru those beautiful light hazel/grelen eyes ❤
No hazel at all in them. The palest green you've ever seen, with layers of luminosity. I know. I looked into them a few times.
Sure Jan
@@fedup745 hey!... agreed, like gazing into diamonds ❤️
The voice is number 1
Mate, Dick Cavett! Such a great interviewer. ❤

What an absolute gentleman
he was so handsome AND talented
Hard living caught him. Golden voice
Yes. Very sad actually.
Wow can you imagine he said Elizabeth Taylor will become a cult figure! And sure enough she did.
I was interested more in his positive comments about Spencer Tracy. I've seen the movie, "Fury" that he is referring to. Burton is right, Spencer Tracy was brilliant.
Spencer Tracy was one of two Wisconsin natives who won two Academy Awards for Best Actor, Frederic March the other.

What a cool dude 😎

He predicted well. She definitely has had programs devoted to her screen work.
Que bel9 homem e que grande ator.Que esteja na Luz junto com seu amor.
The pain in his eyes and skin.
his beautiful eyes were always a bit sad, a bit coloured by pain
The world's greatest actor
Yes. Genauso ist es!
Ich grüße Sie aus Stuttgart.
Burton and Taylor both sadly missed
Burton did exactly the same, without need the prop!
I simply can’t imagine being married to Elizabeth Taylor, twice, no less!!!! Some guys have all the luck!!! And yet, he cut it short, with the bottle!!!! Tragic!!!

Of course she does. They were still talking toward the end of his life.
What year is this interview?
Burton died in 1984. So way before that.
1980
Spencer Ttacy was one of the best actirs of all time.
That music at the end is bizarre
I thought they were gonna cut them off like at an awards show!
Interesting that a bunch of these Burton videos are popping up on youtube recently.
In August Burton will have been dead for 40 years. 😢
It's been a long 40 years
What year is this?
1980
Burton was a remarkable talent. But the booze my gosh. How else can you explain marrying and divorcing Elizabeth Taylor twice?
He never really acknowledged his alcoholism like she did.
How else to explain it? Maybe he really loved her.
You don't need to explain it. They were madly in love with each other.
He does so in this very interview (though a different clip).
For a second i thought Dick Cavett was interviewing Dick Cavett.
For a well known drunk he comes off as intensely sober.
Senza Elixabeth non va bene
Ma ti adoro comunque ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would have said Yes to that handsome Welshman myself.
He was a heavy drinker and heavy smoker. Died at only 58.
Even for the eighties that hair on Dick’s head is appalling
