7:21 How nice of the person to explain the final car, the “diesel coach”; I had never seen such an animal in service. 👍 SMOKE-RING at 13:10!! Excellent work; beautiful camera shots!
No criticism intended, and I enjoyed seeing these old engines running again. Two questions, if I may: are they still running (2021)? How heavily laden is all that smoke and steam with particles that might affect the environment? Thanks
Yep,6024 will be operational until 2029 (if Wikipedia is to be trusted). As for environment: yeah steam locos obviously pollute but trucks and planes are much worse
Well under British railways - as was the case for all steam locos - they were replaced by diesel and electric locos. In preservation, no. 6000 King George 5th ran in the 70s and 80s but will probably remain on static display for the foreseeable future. 6024 King Edward 1 (as seen here) has had stints of running in the 90s and late 2000s and is due to return to the mainline out of a fresh overhaul later this year. As for the other king in preservation : 6023 king Edward 2nd, she was withdrawn from here first running period through the 2010s last year and will not be operational for a good few years.
Great video hate those modern American style sirens the UK has adopted.. much prefer the old school dual horn sirens seems more British. That said the steam @ night shots you arent afraid to take are awesome. Steam at night is really spectacular and as a friend once said so very romantic.
Love the little toot toot along the coast

Why did they stop running king classes?
