- The Small Faces, along with "Immediate" artists "Twice as Much", "P.P. Arnold" and film director Peter Whitehead travel to Camber Sands to film an Immediate Records" promotion film. The 16mm colour film was later used for the Promos "Itchycoo Park" and "Groovy", written by MARRIOTT/LANE and they gave "Groovy" to P.P. Arnold. The Small Faces play on this track, basically making it a Small Faces' record with P.P. Arnold guesting on vocals...

Fantastic - Steve Marriott and Pat Arnold are two of the greatest singers ever!
I like this one something different from the small faces and pp Arnold ❤❤❤❤🎉🤩😊😎🤗
p.p Arnold is beautiful with matching soulful voice this has blessed me' ears
F BLM THIS BLACK GIRL IS AN INSITUION SHE IS GORGEOUS AND IS HER VOICE LEAVES ALL OTHER FEMALE BLACK SINGERS WAY BEHIND ALL THE BLM IS GARBAGE WHOEVER SUGGESTED TO BRING ALL THIS STUFF INTO THE OPEN NEEDS TO KEEP THEIR OPINIONS TO THEMSELVES OBVIOUSLY THEY WERE NOT AROUND TO APPRECIATE.BLACK MUSIC AND BLACK MUSIC DOESNT COME ANY BETTER THAN PP ARNOLD AND SHE CHOSE A GREAT BAND TO SING WITH SMALL FACES. FIRST CUT IS DEEPEST HER DEBUT SONG OUT SHINES ANYONE ELSE WHO ELSE HAS A GO AT IT FORGET IT PP ARNOLD WILL NOT BE EQUALED. ❤️
Happen it's blessed me own too
What a beautiful combination. The cute sexy soul voice off PP Arnold with the fab Small Faces. This is music heaven !
DONT FORGET ABOUT HER BEAUTIFUL SMILE SHOWS SHE LOVES SINGING AND WE ENJOY LISTENING ❤️.
I want the 60's and 70's back. I loved that time and miss it so so much, sometimes to the point I'll feel sorrowful. 💔
The DRUMS on this are KILLER!!
A wonderful tune.
One of the great unrecognised tracks of the '60s. There's just too many...
And people thought Ross was good. Bonkers.
Absolutely love this ,always have always will . What talent 😎
PP ARNOLD the fifth Small Face.
Steve wrote this and gave it to p.p. Arnold to record...so beautiful...
Wow, is that right? (Yes) I was wondering. Kind of confronting/truth lyrics because it shines a light on the human animal, striving to be groovy. Steve stoned or temp.stoned, they have the stamp of 'out there' lyrics. Eg. It's genius but confronting song because you 'couldn't' SAY these words to a boyfriend/girl, "if you think you're groovy".
Steve & PP Arnold obviously
PP Armold.. what a voice!! and Small Faces! Awesome combination.. fantastic apart.
Miss Mod and my favourite group, what a combination 😊
These two complimented each other beautifully.
When it comes to the mod thing ,you can't get any better than this that's for sure.Bloody give me a time machine and take me there far from this nightmare ,right?
Too right - I'll buy a one way ticket for your time machine! The second half of the Sixties were THE BEST YEARS EVER!
WHEN DO WE LEAVE !!! !!!
even more of a nightmare now
Oh, please, take me with you. I don't know how much more I can take of this madness.
one of the coolest clips on youtube- classic from the zentih of pop music and culture
Some of the best drums I think I've ever heard
LOKITUPISBACK Kenny Jones
Trumpets and percussionstoo
Just love this...still remember the first time I saw Small Faces.....Bath Pavillion...now those Monday nights were fantastic....but how good would it have been to see them with PPA....this is special...thanks!
Fantastic, the Small faces and PP Arnold.
This is a different mix, beautiful , love it!!!!
Amazing!!!just amazing!!great band with beautiful P.P Arnold and her powerful voice.Video looks great.Glad i've found it.Thanks!
Good one!! wonder if there is or should have been a Small Faces version of this one with Steve belting it out in his own style. Still a killer toon!!

Will never tire of this - perfection
Oh my God I'm in love.
beautiful woman
Love this song ❤️
They had chemistry
This is a better recording/mix than the single. Thanks for this!
+Jules Benjamin Agreed, you can sure hear Plonk Lane's bass lines more clearly which punches things up a bit! Dynamic to the max.
+Jules Benjamin You said .
Was just thinking the very same thing!
It was kind of a strange stereo mix.
Lovely song!
pure class proper tune
Superb, really.
so very very perfect! x
Brilliant!!!
From Chelyabinsk with love!
cant believe how good this song is. can you here ogdens in there like me?
Superb !!!!♡
well groovy!
Flute & horns, can ear a myriad of instruments. Sensational, deep hurt victim song.
Pretty clip and she seemed a brunet mermaid with that gorgeous hairdo
Class.
🎸🎸🎸🥁👏👏👏
Wonderful
Amazing!!
GrOoOoOoOoOvY
I think the Pink Floyd promo for Arnold Lane was also filmed on Camber Sands.
Wonderful lady.
🙂
Backup singers and small faces did a good work too,but she s truly amazing as singer as well Backup 's voices
What a great track! From her first Immediate Album, 1967. 20 years later... P.P. Arnold with The Beatmasters: Burn It Up, 30 years later: P.P T The Primes: Understanding (a coverversion of a Small Faces Tune, The Primes = Primal Scream). Groovy: A little bit overproduced, typical style of Immediate / Andrew Loog Oldham / Arthur Greenslade [Chris Farlowe, Twice As Much, even Del Shannon etc.]
Sounding bit like GENYA RAVAN.LOVE IT.
@armjos1 Thanks armjos 1. One day I'll arm myself with the guitar and visit that neck ot the woods.
Sweet.
Gret song i love iit!
I like the way it speeds up a little toward the end. It would be hard to duplicate the band doing this with a drum loop, layer upon layer of overdubbing and digital editing tools.
Not heard this before
Truly beautiful....think the Small faces 'film' was from Autumn Stone?😎
Brilliant.
I love it. Thanks for posting. The original version has a strange stereo mix. This seems to be a mono mix, which is slightly better, but not as clear sounding.
I do think I'm Groovy!
Magickal
this is so happening ;)
ferladdie vbb
love love
Where exactly is Camber Sands? Like which county or town is it in/near and what river/estuary is the beach on?
Hey, it was in '67. Everybody was stoned beyond belief.
Patricia said she wasn't !!!!
Wonderful!
I saw those promos years ago and STILL cannot find any trace of that incredible video Whitehead made for Billy Nichols's It brings me down... Someone has it??
@penrhyndeundraeth it is on the sussex coast, lovely beach
Camber Sands is in Kent.
Nice Face.
👌👌👌
What was Patricia on ?
How cold was the water ?
Was the promo video for the song Ogdens nutgone flake filmed on camber sands as well?
Surprised its not on you tube anywhere! Hope someone can upload it... Thanks
I definately think I am groovy.
@juliejazz It's available.
Same video as PP Arnold “First Cut is the Deepest”.
I think im groovy...
Mag ich.
It speaks volumes of that era that on what clearly looks like a freezing cold day, the person who ends up posing seductively, drenched in the water is the pretty black girl. PP Arnold was tiny, gorgeous, talented but pretty much abused by every guy she trusted. Still, she's a survivor. She's still here while many of her abusers are long dead.
Not all. PP has written that she and Steve were lovers at this time and they remainded good friends for many years after. Pat say Steve was the only white boy she dated who didn't try to hide it. In fact, she says he even took her home to meet his mother!
can't be real.
@finalsolution14 really? hmm if she is it seems the apple has fallen quite far from the tree
You still like it?
Steve and Aretha, now that;s a deal
Who’s the dude at 1.58 doesn’t look like a Small Face?
One member of "Twice as Much"
peter hackenbusch ‘True Story’ Label mates. Thanks.
Why didn't P.P. Arnold have a HUGE career in the States?
Watch TH-cam : Brit Girls mezzomanUK
She would of been treated like dirt since she was a Black Female in the sixties. The People in the UK gave her more respect.
@@christopherhall1021
She wouldnt have a chance in the american rock and roll and blues rock scene.
@@christopherhall1021 PP WAS TO TALENTED FOR THE YANKS SHE PROVED THAT WITH HER DEBUT HIT SONG “FIRST CUT IS THE DEEPEST WRITTEN BY CAT STEVENS NO ONE HAS EVER SANG IT BETTER IT WAS FOR HER AND HER ONLY ❤️
They were stoned outta their minds when they made this video.
Lyrics are deep to the very soul. Came from a deep place of Steve. Prob. stoned released all inhibitions with the pen. I've read he pursued & pursued his first wife. Could be talking to her in his head. A hurt sacastic tone to the lyric. But very true.
Wonderful
