  • Elburg, with over 600 monuments this is one of the most picturesque towns and well-kept secrets in The Netherlands. The town is located about 80km from Amsterdam, in the North-Western parth of the province of "Gelderland". It's also not far from the popular tourist trap "Giethoorn". Most international tourists would go to the latter. Therefore, I can easily recommend taking a stop in Elburg as it isn't overrun by international tourists yet. Let me show you another off the beaten path destination in one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, Elburg!
    For more information about this beautiful city, go to:

    Update: thanks to Jurgen van Voorst I was able to correct a mistake in the video. This updated version contains the correct name of Arent Thoe Boeckop.

      Thanks! Elburg is highly recommended! Coincidentally I will spent my next holidays in California and surrounding regions! I'm leaving for the states in a couple of days... As a geographer I love nature. I can't wait to see some of the most beautiful national parks like zion, bryce and the grand canyon. I will also drive from LA to SF. Unfortunately no time for filming there as I'm traveling with my family. Anyways, California is also an amazing place to grow up!

    Just discovered your channel! great videos, I love this off the beaten towns, how do you suggest getting around, rent a car or most are connected by train?

    • @robindiscovering
      @robindiscovering  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your reply. Public transport in The Netherlands is very good. Every town will have at least a bus connection. Larger towns and cities have train connections as well. I suggest you download the "9292ov" app to see if public transport is an option on your desired route. For a day trip from Amsterdam to Giethoorn with a stop in Elburg I would rent a car. It would be a bit faster to reach the smaller towns and villages.

  • @IskanderRider

    interesting :)
    do you use a drone? I thought it's prohibited in the NL. No?

    • @robindiscovering
      @robindiscovering  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I do, it's not entirely forbidden, but there are many zones where you can't fly. We have an app for this which is called "GoDrone". Furthermore you have to register your drone, put the registered number on your drone and you have to pay annually tax over it, like you would with a car. Where you can fly also depends on the size of the Drone. Flying with drones less then 249 grams, which I use, are generally allowed in more regions.

    • @IskanderRider
      @IskanderRider ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robindiscovering also I’ve heard that it’s forbidden to register drones for the Russians :)
