Great footage here. Good, smooth moves and proper night time exposure. But the best was the dawn footage. Perfect angle for the morning light, plus the morning light gives subtle modeling to the scenery, and the gorgeous white steam plume. Keep it up.
Incredible shots! Been looking for some quality 4K video of 4014 after seeing it in person at West Chicago yesterday. I really appreciate your slow consistent pans and consistent framing! I'll be watching more of your videos for certain!
Great to re-watch these awesome videos of this incredible series of steam locomotives double heading through the Wasatch. What a buzz it must have been to film it. But this particular video rates amongst the very best with that spectacular early morning light as the train sets off, the perfect angle for the early morning sunshine to glisten golden light on the locomotives with huge plumes of white smoke and with a wonderful background to add to the composition. I have just filmed the luxury Australian Outback train The Ghan arriving and departing from Adelaide to Darwin (if you care to subscribe to my TH-cam channel Train Lord and take a look) but there is no scenery to add and no mountains for the extra inspiration. But it is a very long train!
this is an overnight ferry move to Green River Yard. The West Track is closed from Evenston to Echo to replace ties and install PTC signals. Directional running is still enforced from Echo to Evanston so they will have to shut the railroad down for 24 hours to widen the track for Big Boy but all eastbounds still have to stop there is no clearance between Ogden and Echo and the tracks will need to be realigned.
I know the diesel was probably for HEP but that thing was just crusing along just thinking to himself "what the hell am I doing here both these locos could out pull me!! Let's just sit here in isolation they don't need my help" 😂😂
Nice work! Wish I still had a three-year-old to watch it with. (Okay, no, I don't. Wish I could have watched it with a small kid back when they were small.)
Sadly it's unlikely 3985 will ever run again. They've essentially stated that it would cost nearly as much to get it back in operating condition as it did to restore 4014.
@@Toaster844 Indeed it is, it would have been a hell of a thing to see a pair of articulated locomotives running together in this day and age, but sadly it's unlikely to happen.
Haha tell me about it. When they canceled the original plan to run 844 out to Ogden separately from 4014 I don't know why they didn't combine the consists and pull both out together. Instead they sent one out behind a diesel.

Thanks, now I just need to save up the money to get back out there haha
One of the best videos I have
seen of 4014 and 844. Thanks for creating and posting it.

at the beginning.....one cold morning.......then it warms up
Man if only 3985 would run with 4014

@@NorfKhazad yeah that’s the sad thing about it

No wonder ticket prices were high... a third of the train is motive power.
