    I struggled with mine until I really dug into micro adjustments and then it started really performing. Love it!

      It is a good antenna but I have gravitated toward my Chelegance which I can setup and tune much quicker.

    Great video. Thinking of getting either this antenna or the Deluxe. Noticed your USCG Shirt. I did 32 active with the CG. Semper Paratus.

      I did 28 years in the blue suit and have been a GS civilian for the last 11. Hanging it up for good next year.

    Another good antenna overview. I've been using Buddipole gear for over 10 years. For those who like to tinker, BP gear is a great. Late last year I added the buddistick versa hub + legs to my BP erector set. Over time you can add additional arms and longer whips to improve efficiency, especially at home.

      Thanks Len, I was thinking of trying my SuperAntennas MP1 Coil on the BuddiStick stuff and see how that works. Something to tinker with anyhow.

    Today I set mine up in spite of terrible condx. From NH at 10am I was heard on reverse beacon in both France and Alberta. A might little antenna.

      As far as trap verticals go it is by far my favorite for both performance and build quality.

    If you could only have the Buddistick Pro Deluxe or he Chameleon MPAS Lite - which would you buy. I watched your reviews on both antennas. Both companies have great reputations. Appreciate your help. Keep the videos coming.

      As with so many things the answer is it depends on you and what you want to do. If you only use a couple of bands and/or you don't have an antenna tuner, the Buddistick Pro is the obvious choice. If you are a band hopper and want to be able to rapidly change bands and you have an ATU, the MPAS Lite is a great choice. Wolf River Coils are another good choice and cost less than either of these. There are plenty of videos out there on those.

      @@houseofhamradio Thank you. Also stuck in HOA rules. New to HF as well (I'm a General). I thought the MPAS Lite would be a little more stealth. Appreciate all your videos.

    It seems that taking a SWR reading on the RigExpert while standing so close to the antenna may affect the reading. Does the reading change if you were to stand further away from the antenna when taking a reading?

    • @houseofhamradio
      @houseofhamradio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, your body can impact the readings. I normally try and get further away when doing actual testing. Doing a video is a little different as I try and show what I am testing while doing the test.

    Thanks for the video. Do you plan to get the Vertical Antenna Clamp? It would be interesting to see an additional method to get the antenna up if there is something like a picnic table to clamp to.

      @houseofhamradio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a plate and clamp from my SuperAntennas MP1 so I don't need to buy another ont.

      @@houseofhamradio Ok, I was just wondering if it holds up when clamped with the BuddiStick version clamp, but you have your own. Thanks for the answer.

    A good magnet is awesome for finding dropped bolts, nuts, screws, ect.

    • @houseofhamradio
      @houseofhamradio  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, that won't work for the counterpoise nut on the BuddiStick as it is plastic.

    Does the count poise need to be elevated? What if you place it on the ground?

    • @houseofhamradio
      @houseofhamradio  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, to get the best results you do. You can use multiple ground mounted radials but the performance may not live up.

  • @RedNeckSurgeyTech
    @RedNeckSurgeyTech ปีที่แล้ว

    Could use regular sticks off the ground and not carry anything to get your radial off the ground? Love the channel. 73 KF0ALT

    Unless you're working 40 and above the MFJ 1979 telescopic whip is much simpler to setup and use by an order of magnitude and much cheaper.

    • @houseofhamradio
      @houseofhamradio  ปีที่แล้ว

      MFJ 1979 and other 17' whips are good down to 20M without loading coils or transformers like the Chameleon MPAS lite which makes the Buddistick look cheap. As for being simpler to setup, that would depend on if you have an analyzer for adjusting for SWR. That being said, nothing wrong with the MFJ 1979 which is pretty effective with proper radials.

    Similar to super antenna

    • @houseofhamradio
      @houseofhamradio  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Although they are both loaded vertical antennas they differ in that the BuddiStick Pro is more of a center loaded (not that you couldn't do the same with the SuperAntenna) and the SuperAntenna is a Screwdriver as where the BuddiStick Pro is a tapped coil. The BuddiStick is also an elevated counterpoise (Again, you could do that on the SuperAntenna).

      @@houseofhamradio As Jim Litz noted, this is the perfect antenna for POTA! I tested a Buddistick a while back and think folks overlook two important aspects. 1. Antenna analyzer is a must for tuning! 2. Radials are absolutely required, the more the better :) Keep those videos coming.. and thanks for your contributions to the Ham Community!
