    The angular straps are supposedly so that they can give extra wrist support, whilst minimizing cuff thickness and risk of Velcro burns during clinch work.

  • @Louie-ty6bh
    @Louie-ty6bh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    the velcro design isn't for aesthetics but it does make it look cool =) it's actually for your sparring partner's protection from velcro scratches when clinching. sometimes your sparring partner can get scratches from velcro on their face and neck.

    Nice review. I think these are the same as the bgv5(besides the strap), which is titled as their "super sparring gloves" . I bought the 5s specifically for sparring. But right away, I noticed the lack of padding on the fist / knuckle area. Quality glove. But not what I was looking for, in terms of looking after my sparring partners.

      D Phommasa thanks man, I’ll have to try the bgv5, and I agree the knuckle padding is very soft and not the most protective

    The best boxing gear reviewer on YT! Carlo, how many days per week do you train? Can you elaborate on your glove rotation? Thanks!

      Thanks man I appreciate the kind words, glad you find the channel helpful! TBH, friends and family can attest I train like a madman, 5-6 days a week, road work about 4 days a week. I just love being in the gym and staying sharp. My rotation is just a mixture of gloves I’ve either purchased or was fortunate enough for companies to send me to try out. I typically like bag gloves because I’ve had some tendinitis and wrist problems in the past so I prefer the extra protection

    The reason for the angular Velcro is to reduce the potential amount of Velcro exposed to your sparring partner.

    If your like me and prefer a lace up glove get the BGL6. I bought multiple pairs in bangkok in 2017 and only ever used one pair all the way through until I sold them all a couple of months back when I was injured and didn’t think I’d be able to fight again. Now I’m all good and can fight again I’m heart broken I sold them seriously try them.

    On mine the layer of foam nearest your knuckles was extremely dense and hard. Someone else online also commented on that in a review of them. It was very uncomfortable and made punching painful. Maybe that's different to yours. Nice thumb and much more space for long fingers than the BGV1 and BGL7s I've had though.

      I had the same issue with the Twins Special, especially when closing my fist it seemed to make the foam put heavy pressure on my middle knuckle. I returned them and got the Fairtex Mexican 16oz, and these have been excellent. They don't have the same amount of padding but I think its important how the glove distributes the force of the impact through the glove and the Fairtex Mexican just seems to take the impact away from the knuckle. Great glove for the money.

    Great channel! Are your 16oz BGV6s noticably bigger than your 16oz BGV1s in the knucle area? The reason I ask is because I just got the BGV1 16oz and they're smaller than my Twins 12oz gloves. I'm worried some people gyms will ask me to use bigger gloves for sparring. If the BGV6 is not that much bigger than the BGV1, then I may not purchase it (might have to go with the BGV18 instead). If you could let me know that would be awesome!

      Tbh I can’t answer that because I haven’t used the bgv5 yet. With that being said, the bgv5 is a sparring glove so I’d imagine the padding is better suited for sparring (more forgiving and pillowy) compared to the bgv6 which is more of a punchers glove

    • @aadilshaukat9073

      Henry no the padding is usually thinner around the knuckle area. This helps with maximum power transfer.

    • @csquaredboxing
      @csquaredboxing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Winning is medium density, for more knuckle protection you want a glove that has denser padding/ typcally bag gloves are usually more protective because of the impact dispersion,

      @HenryTheBoilermaker3rdYear 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@csquaredboxing I have to disagree I've owned sabas gloves and I feel winning gloves are definitely more knuckle protective. Please do experiment of you hit a hard wall really hard once and switch to other gloves and do the same. You obviously don't feel knuckle pain because you don't hit really hard on a hard sand heavy bag. RATETHISGEAR
      thinks winning have the best at knuckle protection in any glove same as me.

      @themightyquinn9843 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@csquaredboxing but you need the softness in there to absorb the shock, Winning's hand protection is A+. Fairtex old BGL7s were the most densely padded gloves I've owned, and some of the worst hand protection possible because of how hard it was. I say this as someone with fragile hands and a permanently fractured wrist.
