Though Urgot's W shoots three times a second, it applies on-hit effects at 50% effectiveness. Since you don't build attack speed on Urgot, it means that on-hits are perfectly fine to use on him, other than Spellblade Sheen items, anyway.
Movespeed is always good with Urgot's W, as it helps you reposition easier for his passive procs, plus even kite and chase like an actual marksman.

While Urgot W is in fact affected by attack range, this can cause you to miss with your shotgun knees. Also while the W doesn't apply spell effects itself, each shotgun blast does.

The shotgun range is increased with attack range. I have never seen it miss, but I can imagine it hapoening.

you should buy the boots that make you walk on walls you can press w then use boots to shoot people from the wall

urgot w gains range but it's pretty shit even the prismatic one he basically is allways melee
