Every young boy should have a dad that will at least attempt to put him in wrestling. At least give it a go.

Dan Gable is a legend. I remember when I wrestled, Dan Gable is total inspiration for wrestling and life. Thank you Dan Gable.

My coaches are in the military and one of them was the head of PT for the infantry of the base. He did not treat us as lesser than those men and women, and held us to the same standard. Amazing coach, and amazing person.

The ONE AND ONLY Coach Dan Gable. A name I had heard so many times throughout my wrestling career that when I was new and young, I’d created a complete picture in my mind of what he looked like, before ever seeing him! Wrestling molded me and gave me back all that I put into it! The best years of my life were on the mat! Good stuff!

Sanderson is far better and well on his way to beating gable’s coaching record. Gable had the advantage of coming into a program that was already dominant and Cael lost a season due to COVID, and Cael is still on track to betting the record

A beast whose house I’ve visited BUT his spartan way of doing things is over. Cael Sanderson has proven as much.

@@normanhuntley5747 as a matter of fact I went to the Iowa wrestling camps in 1996 and 1997. So yes I have been in said practices. By their own admission Iowa focuses on outlasting their competition. They ignore technique, speed and strength focusing solely on endurance.

Got a 1 day training camp with that man when I was 15. Most intense camp I’ve ever been to…..and I was infantry marine, wild land fire fighter and currently a roughneck.

@@JesusIsKoK so, I went by myself. When I got there, about 100 doods had also made their way to the camp. I got randomly paired up in the morning session with a really good guy. As gable was walking around, he saw us. During the next round of instruction, he pulled me and him into the circle and used us as training aids. He then used us as training aids for the rest of the camp….so the five second takedown drill lasted 30 min instead of 3min with two min break for instruction then three min again. This was an 8 hour camp that I wrestled full blast infront of the absolute ledgend. I was whooped….the next year at cadet nationals, my room mate in Fargo was the guy I wrestled that day. Years later, I taught it to a group of high schoolers and had 1/3 of the team place at state. The man knew what it took. I can still hear him counting down from five almost 30 years later. He was there to have a meeting during lunch with Eric Guerrero. Years later I had heard about the meeting. OhhhhhrahhhHhhhhh devil!!! 0311.
