Do you already have egg catches? If not, you may be able to find used hanging goat feed buckets (the 2-3 ft long ones.) Theyre shallow, so they might work great. I love what you're doing here. We are homesteading, as well. We reuse everything! Well done! Best wishes to you and yours😊
@@suzie9198 if they're bantams, that's plenty of space. We have Brahman and Jersey Giants, so our coop is much larger. But, I do understand where you're coming from😊
@suzie9198 the space required for chickens is only 1 foot per bird and we plan to have 4 or 5 roosting bars inside which would house "normal" chicken size of 15 birds. Like I said we would probably only keep 12 per side. We have the bantams for now but they will be moving to a different coop in the future.
Attach a piece of clear vinyl (like a thicker shower curtain vinyl) to the top of each of the chicken doors. Leave extra material at the top edge. Seal the top edge of the vinyl to the metal with caulk to stop water from leaking in. Attach the bottom with screws or nails to keep it from blowing around. It should fold up when the door is opened. No need to change the hook size.
I know nothing about Chickens (Well eating them and their eggs ) but it looks cool to me. Not sure what the Middle Kid was singing but she was sure gettin It LOL.
Great question....For right now the temps at night are good and doesn't require the insulation however we do have plans in place to insulate this. Right now however that has not been the priority.
This coop is going to be more for egg production only so not looking to have broody hens in this coop. If it happens we will have a separate space to help them get cooled down.

Quite a small space for 12 to 15 chickens . Don't you think 🤔

@HomesteadWyoming Thanks for the tips! We do have a plan for making the egg catch. Those feed buckets do sound like a great option though.

Nice coop!!!😊🎉❤
Thanks! 😊🥰👍🏼
The chicken coup is turning out amazing. Pretty ingenious how you're putting it all together. Gladys did a good job on the caulking.
Thank you very much...yeah that caulking gun is pretty amazing and super easy to use.
Good morning ☕ Ivey Family

Thank is a great suggestion and I even thought of this after making the video. I may do something just like this if it keeps getting wet inside.
The chicken 🐔 🐥 coop looks so good you don't have to worry about predators getting in its air tight ❤
Well not air tight but it will be nice and secure from the sneaky night critters...lol
Good Afternoon Guys!! 🙋♀️🦋✨️

Hello ivey’s family factotum 👋
Howdy...👋👋
Talk with Bobblehead Jeff
He’s the chicken king
He also has roasters maybe you can work out a deal with him 👍🏼
Yeah we talk with Jeff on occasion and actually already asked him if he wanted to trade....he wasn't interested in Bantams.
Aren’t those going to be hot nesting boxes since everything is made out of metal and then cold in the wintertime

Is your coop going to be
Army East
Navy West
Lol
Hi. What about the hens roosting bars .😮
Hey...they do have one bar in there...I don't think that portion of the video made the final cut...lol
Will you have a special nest for brudy hens??
