I love the opening comments where you say who you're battling with and against, especially the epithets ("the sandiest of dogs" etc), and I like seeing familiar names pop up again and again. It's great when the others in the draft are not just names but characters in this ongoing serial drama. I just wish I had a bit more back story on everyone. But I haven't followed competitive magic in the last several years. I basically just watch these drafts.
Well I learned so far that the sandiest of dogs likes to draft Aggro preferably red or white. Which made it all the more interesting that he recently showed up with a controllish combo deck. How is that for backstory? 😊
You get a bit more backstory on these characters if you've been watching LSV streams for the past several years. Most of these guys have been regulars in his channel for years. I too would love more interaction with them though...honestly as well as some commentary and viewing of some of the other matches. Would make it a little more like the old Vintage Super League content that I've been craving for years now.

The true scam archetype is LSV building a deck so good that you scam your audience by going 2-0 and denying a last round to us. Always love the drafts, didn’t miss a beat in 2 months❤️
Not sure if you know about the screenshot shortcut, but if you are just taking pictures to copy into a chat you can press “ctrl + shift + s” and select the area you want to capture. It copies the image straight to the clipboard and you can paste it in chat from there and don’t have to deal with snipping the tool at all. Love the vids :)
Bowmasters > Oko is not something I was expecting. Does this mean that LSV thinks that Bowmasters is the best card behind the power 9 (excluding timetwister) + sol ring and mana crypt?
I find myself agreeing with LSV’s evaluations far more now compared to a few years ago, and I think bowmasters is incredibly strong. That being said, I am still fairly confident he overvalues it.
@@agedskate3000 I'm not sure that he does, the card is just so easy to make work. There's a bunch of mana dorks and assorted other nonsense it can nug on the way in, and then there's a million wheel effects to combo with, not to mention shutting down sylvan, Jace, etc. Also cheap and splashable.
Single color > double color pick 1 if they are comparable in strength. Also an early Bowmaster let's you draft around it, where as Oko is more of a good-any-time card
Curious about your thoughts on the Jitte pick over the BUG triome (fetchable by foothills). At the time I thought the land was going to be the responsible pick especially since your creature count wasn't particularly high. You didn't seem to give it much consideration. Is that because it's a tap land in a low curve deck? Is Jitte just too much better even though it didn't fit your deck? Love the vintage Cube drafts!
Jitte is just a broken card. The -1/-1 ability can shut some decks down completely if they can't remove it right away and in other match ups it's just really good.
By that point he was pretty consigned to being in a creature based deck, maybe not aggro, but certainly a grindy creature strategy. Jitte kinda does it all for that.
It's their own cube list. I think it's based on the Vintage cube list but they've iterated from there. It'd be nice if there was a link to it in the description, though it may be that they make changes often enough that it'd be a pain to maintain.
How has no one mentioned the Jitte over Zagoth Triome pick yet? Would have made Wooded Foothills into all 3 of his colours and added 2 of each blue and black sources for free; I strongly believe it's because all the "tricycle" lands have such random names it's almost impossible to figure out which is which...
Yep, I also thought it was a huge miss on LSVs draft...especially since at the time of the pick he was still looking at playing multiple blue cards and didn't know he'd get enough payables to realistically go straight R/B. With the pick he would have certainly at least splashed the twister for free.
I mean, obviously if he's picking a card he thinks there's a chance he will play it. I'm sure if he could see the future and know he wouldn't end up playing it he'd pick the land. Let's stop with the hindsight drafting
@@TIMESLOST Sure, but it seems like a repeating pattern where he passes lands that fix his mana for something medium, and at the end says it's a shame his mana didn't work out.
@andrewvolz5543 Are reflection of kiki, laelia, snuff out, and jitte "medium" now? maybe he just values cards differently than you (also probably why he's a hall of famer)
@@andrewvolz5543I agree with you. I feel like pretty early in the draft he doesn’t take triomes much, before his colors are settled. If you get a triome or two with a fetch or two, it gives you a lot of additional flexibility in the colors you can play. Granted, I am nowhere near LSV’s skill level, but it’s definitely something I have noticed as a difference from my own evaluations during these drafts, and it is definitely a pattern.
40:15 EXACTLY the problem with Wizards printing absurd RB cards every set. Rakdos are the most played colors in every format now and it's honestly completely ruined my MTG experience lately. I've gone from loving MTG for over 20 years to now barely playing because I can't escape it no matter what format I play. It's infuriating!
Huh? Rakdos has historically not been powerful in many formats at all. It's okay for it to be good in one or two metas lol I don't understand why you want to complain about rakdos when cards like oko and minsc & boo have been printed recently

Also, if you want to talk about 'historically' then Jund (where the core of the deck was still black discard and red removal) was a thing for a LOOOONG time and the times when it wasn't good more recently is really the shorter period which now is being supplanted by RB@@TIMESLOST

LSV taking good disruption instead of Lotus Field to go with Time Spiral. So there *are* limits to his degeneracy.
Spiral isn't much of a combo. It's only better than normal if you've made 7 or 8 land drops

It's their own cube list. I think it's based on the Vintage cube list but they've iterated from there. It'd be nice if there was a link to it in the description, though it may be that they make changes often enough that it'd be a pain to maintain.

LSV does seem to prioritize lands the least I have ever seen in this particular cube itteration.
