LOL, no, this video is not a powerslide. A powerslide looks quite different, and has one skate sliding, and the other support skate rolling backwards. The skates are thus perpendicular to each other. You're right in that a powerslide is much easier than a hockey stop.
haha been playing ice hockey for about8-9 years and stop like it's nothing, but here i am trying to figure out how to stop on blades so i don't embarass myself in front of the guy tonight xD $6 for 4 hours of hockey... works for me!
it really depends on which types of wheels you have like if u have any skate brand wheel like bauer or missions then u should change your wheels to rink rats, labedas,or hypers
@LuckyCharmNinja Generally I'd say no. On Asphault it's next to impossible without eating shit, especially at high speed. What I tend to do is anticipate when I might need to stop and just slow up to make it easy, maybe do it by dragging a foot, or hopping on an adjacent lawn.
@LuckyCharmNinja so, did you figure out how to stop on the rollerblades? I've been trying but i pretty much do a turn. It's too wide for my liking though...
@MurphGiovanni...try Labeda Addiction orange wheels...whole new world! x-soft is to soft for someone of your weight! That's why your having trouble taking off and slipping.
@lsmike I still find it tough, although I was skating previously with hard wheels on asphalt. I still wouldn't try it at full tilt, and I've been skating since I could walk. It's not impossible though, I'm sure, I just wouldn't do it.
@tehtwitchy my dad has been playing hockey all of his life and is good so wen i was about 9 we bought inline skates and he tried to stop and he broke his wrist in 7 places and will never rollerblade again
@TheWitchOvAgnesi I wear a padded shirt. It's just not the same though. I get sooo damn hot in the padded shirt i couldn't imagine what the shoulder pads would be like. Where I get a lot of guff from people is when I'm wearing a mouth guard. I guess I care about my mouth.
It's much less common than on ice, but there are inline games that involve checking, just as there are no-checking games on ice too.
Well spotted. Yes, it's all too easy to get really good on your good side, and ignore the bad side a little.
Very much so, although it depends on the surface. This particular surface is easy.
I kind of like playing both. Roller hockey is free here, ice time is 15 bucks an hour
@Ballpuncher At high levels of competition, sure, but my point is just that it's not the wheels that matter as much as the skater him- or herself.

@yarnathan If you search for parallel slide on youtube, you'll see lots of slides done. It's a very high skill level though, indoors is much easier.
@lsmike Believe me, wheels make such a difference. Try going on a sport court with street wheels.

@LuckyCharmNinja i think its much harder especially outdoors...

I play hockey and i stop really well does it feel the same if you do it on the black top
Ive been playing for over 20 - and i did embarrass myself.
Good luck!
for me its $6 for as long as you want to stay
@lsmike

that looks really scary to me, is there a good chance of breaking ur ankles doing this?
One word: checking.
@lsmike are you kidding? wheels definitely matter.
soo any tips? I like can't do this...
ok like how do u do that?
put all your weight on the foot your stoping on. what wheels do u have?
great mapleleafs jersey :)) cool
@tehtwitchy my dad has been playing hockey all of his life and is good so wen i was about 9 we bought inline skates and he tried to stop and he broke his wrist in 7 places and will never rollerblade again
You have rink rat wheels right?
Iv tryed this.. i fall on my ass everytime haha
Roller hockey?
k i still doint get how to do that
I don't think the wheels matter as much as the skill of the skater.
Suuuuuuure you do
its pretty easy to do that on a gym floor.......lol now do it on a real roller surface
id recomend xx soft or xxx soft from what i like is xx soft
why did he turn only one side? left and right turn is more professional!
haha my ice teime is 4 bucks until it ends i think which is 2 hours
This video would be better if he wasn't using that Nasty Hockey Jersey (and yes I'm from Toronto)
lol why is he wearing shoulder pads?

Oh OK???
hmm.. hard wheels will do..
@hockeyyismylife ...but not as much as the skill of the skater. Anyone suggesting the reverse is unlikely to be a very good skater.
LOL. Mature eh?
haha i ice skate for free (if you have your own skates)
