This is class! Anyone dissing it is missing the point. It is a compliment to the original. Both have their own merits. Check the rest of The Bamboos music to see that they can play em and write em too.

As soon as this song came out I knew it was a cover, and if you look on the related videos first up is the Kings of Leon version. The Bamboos have shifted the genre of the song too which is quite a feat. These days it's often more about the recording than the song itself. The Beatles covered "Twist and Shout" but you never hear about the Top Notes. If anything this has only helped more people get to know KoL.

Yeah same here. In my opinion there are two ways to do a cover; do it straight as the artist intended, or try and make it your own. The problem with making it your own is that it can completely change the vibe, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I think this changes the vibe in a bad way.

If you look up just The Bamboos, who have several youtube representations, you won't find any of the nasty commentary that can be found on this site. My thinking is that it's because country rock people who are unlikely to enjoy Funk are being directed here. I think tru-thoughts probably hoped for some fuss.
