    Thanks very much! Very helpful and instructional for this novice having a crack at self maintenance.

    Good stuff 👍 Thanks for sharing, just got myself 2nd hand DRZ and no service manual came with it so this info is just what I needed for doing my first service on it until I can get myself a copy of the owners service manual for it. 😉
    I’ve just found your YT channel and I very much appreciate your own efforts in making your straight talking and very interesting videos on your own DRZ adventures. 👍

      Thanks John, will be a good bike and being an E model all tips in this video should be applicable. Aimed this video to be for someone to be able to walk through with minimal prior mechanical experience! Good luck! You might find the Loctite and water crossing modification videos on the channel helpful too 👍

      I’ll definitely give it a look as well. For now I’ll have this video with me on Friday as I do my first oil change. I find this type of video priceless so thank you again for your time and effort to share it with us! Gives a great explanation and gives a beginner confidence to tackle it without paying $500+ to a dealership mechanic.

    Great info. DRZ400E rider here from Sydney. Quick question. My 2017 400E has developed a slight hanging idle issue. It hangs just above 2000 rpm for a couple of seconds and then returns to 1700 rpm. All the throttle cables are all snapping back. The bike is stock. Any ideas?

    • @WESTOZEXPLORING
      @WESTOZEXPLORING  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possible that the slide in the carby might be sticking? Can pull top of carb off, couple of small Allen Key fasteners. Put a good squirt or carby clean around the slide and wheels and see if any difference?

    • @WESTOZEXPLORING
      @WESTOZEXPLORING  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Kane, glad to be of assistance. I use a waterproof boat bearing grease, is tacky and hard to pump but have no worries with spraying pressure washer around the linkages, just pump some through!

      @kanedaws5742 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just got a 2012 bike, and have gone to grease it, however the grease has obviously dried up, do you know if it’s possible to some how get the old grease out? Do you think heating up the area with a blow torch might work?

    • @WESTOZEXPLORING
      @WESTOZEXPLORING  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kanedaws5742 very low heat, most grease melting point around 140c and try and pump in as you go. Other wise pull the nipples out and use a seal pick to see if just the entry point is blocked?

    Just one more comment, WestOz, I did notice, that when you dropped off the bash-plate, that there were 4, EMPTY, and RUSTY, Bolt holes, staring at me, in the bottom of your bike’s FRAME, from where, I presume, there was probably an original shitty little factory bash-plate fitted.?
    Anyway, don’t you think that it would be a good idea to ‘fill up’ those 4 big empty rusty bolt holes in your bike’s Frame, with some suitable ‘greased’ Bolts, especially, if you are doing water crossings.
    After all, a FRAME, that is ‘allowed’, to get regularly filled, with muddy creek water, especially at that ‘prone to stress-flexing, point’ right below the full weight of the engine, MUST, be already, getting RUSTED, FROM THE INSIDE. 😳
    It would certainly make a ‘spectacular’ video, for us, your avid audience, to see you, one day down the track, ‘Getting Some BIG Air’ over a big jump, only to then see your bike’s Frame SPLIT, in halves underneath your engine, and immediately bottom-out onto the dirt, upon landing, with most likely VERY DIRE CONSEQUENCES, for YOU, as a result of your bike’s Frame having ‘Rusted Out’, from the inside, underneath the engine, just for the sake of 4 lousy ‘missing’ but, cheap, and, empty-hole-filling ‘greased’ Bolts. 🙄😉👍

    I wonder if you'd know why the right front and rear indicators are clicking I am not getting the green flash on dashboard either. But the left rear and right r good and I get the green flash on dashboard. No light bulbs are blown?

    • @WESTOZEXPLORING
      @WESTOZEXPLORING  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I will need to have a closer look at the wiring schematic but is the clicking coming from the indicator relay or the lights themselves? If lights sounds like an earth issue, if from relay you Must have a bad connection or broken wire after the relay

      Correct in that it is recommended to be replaced at 60hours, however through the history of owning the bikes is not an issue pushing these out for a lot of kms. Check and replace as required with the 5k valve sets. Would you like a video on plug replacement/valve set procedure?
