I have cancer and can’t get out anymore. The hills of NC remind me so much of my youth camping, hiking, hunting, fishing in WV. I watch all your videos, I appreciate your honesty and agenda free channel. You and Susie keep doing what you do, it means more to people than you think. I wish I could help you on Patreon, I will when I can.

A couple Stealth Camp tips for you:
1.) Set up in a small pocket in very dense brush; you'll blend in
2.) Stay out of sight of roads and trails (preferably above them)
3.) Don't bring food that needs cooking. Eat sandwiches. Saves on weigh as well (less gear)

Old comment I know, but congratulations on getting housed! I know how tough it can be. I was homeless for a year and it was the hardest year of my life by far. The way you are treated by the public is rough, it took a while to harden myself.. Best wishes for you and I hope we both have a roof over our head for the rest of our days (other than when we are out camping, of course!) ❤️

But I will keep trying to do some sort of outdoor activities. I want to thank you once again for your camping videos. The rain, snow and thunderstorms ones are my favorite! Im handicapped as well. Ive been front porch camping 🏕 for a few years . If I'm feeling good I can drive over to a local park at the lake and do a day on the lake and make a breakfast and dinner before I come home . They have a tall grill that I can build a fire in and cook. It is very close to the table so I can cook easily. There are always possibilities! Stay strong and enjoy the outside even if its outside your own front door

Im happy i live in norway where you can camp anywhere you want as long as its 250m from closest building. Maximum 48 hours on the same spot tho unless its many miles from civilization then theres no limit to how long you can have your tent set up! I cant imagine the feeling of having to hide from park rangers and private land owners while out hiking and camping. Its sad.

I always feel super inspired watching this channel, and appreciate the time & energy taken to make these videos. Love the gear reviews too, and have held off recently on making a purchase of the Snugpack Stratosphere after watching one of your more recent reviews on this bit of gear.
Keep doing what you're doing, and you are very lucky to have a wife that supports your adventures : )

TOGR is the best. I do watch other channels, mainly for the vistas, to be honest, most of them are 15-50 minute commercials of them spouting off about some gear or blatantly placing the product(s) in every shot. I don't really need to hear the full name and specs of a coffee cup every time a guy sips. I get it, it's their livelihood, but you or the missus just go out, hike, camp, enjoy yourselves and tell us if something is junk or good after actually using it. It's very much appreciated. I need to drop in and get some more TOGR swag for Christmas gifts too. Thanks for being legit!

After receiving countless messages from viewers about supporting the channel through Amazon, I have begun using Amazon Affiliate links in the Adventure Videos and if you choose to purchase one of these products via these links I will receive a small commission which will help fund future honest reviews and adventures.
The channel remains as it always was, 100% Agenda Free with no sponsored videos, no paid reviews, and I don't care if you purchase these products or not; you won't find affiliate links in review videos only in adventures.
I'm going to do my best to put gear lists into all of my videos since everyone is asking for them all the time.

Super glad you continued the "Hiding in Plain Sight" stealth camp series. Your coyote story hit home: Last winter a pack was hunting a deer near where I was back country camping. Their movement through woods combined with blood-curdling yelps and howls really rattled me from a sound sleep at 2am. Hiking the mile back to my car in the cold darkness was pretty intense! Anyway, great video, Luke! Strength and honor!

This summer for the first time I finally switched to a plastic sheet for a ground sheet and have to say I am surprised with how well it worked and held up. I thought for sure it would wear out quickly or tear but that hasn't been the case over the entire summer season and using the same plastic sheet. Thanks for the tip!

Your story of getting blown was similar to mine. A lifetime of stealth tarping, and only got caught the once. I was in an alpine forest in Italy, well off the trail in a very discreet spot, when a Ranger walked straight into my camp. He was tracking a poacher and said it was a million to one chance that he'd spotted me. When he realised how committed I was to Leave No Trace he didn't force me to move, but like your guy said I'd better not be there after dawn...

Awesome video Luke! I agree that was weird how that car just seemed to stop in the road and then seemed to turn your direction. What else seems a bit odd, is they seemed to be chasing an animal or something, and then there was the crash near your house the next morning from a car hitting a deer. It's weird how things seem to follow one another when you least expect it.

Camping isn’t camping without good food, for me. You like the hiking aspect so I get why you’d want an easy meal but for me it’s all about the experience, and a hot stove with cast iron mini griddled steak is the way to go. Finish it off in the bread loaf tin oven and it’s perfection. I actually don’t mind the freeze dried meals, it’s the nasty orange meals that put me off.

I know you're a pro, TOGR. I watch a lot of bushcrafters and their video skills, or lack thereof. First thing I noticed is your editing. Your hiking pace and rhythm match - from cut to cut. Not many guys/gals do this. Each rhythmic foot step is 'in-time' (I'm also a frustrated musician/videographer, so, I know rhythm pretty well.). But, maybe you're using 2 or 3 cams. I see a few 'jump-cuts' now and again, but, they seem to work. Your camera comps are really nice. 'Insert' ''B'' scenes look awesome, and your hand-held shots are quite stable. And, locations - beautiful !! 4-K, I assume. Each camera angle is well thought out, yielding new angles. Very inspiring in these times of isolation. Man, I wish video had the ability to convey 'smell', and the aroma of cooked food. Someday? Great videos !! And, I THANK YOU.

In my experience (as a Journeyman Lineman) there is ALWAYS an audible Boom 💥 anytime there is a significant discharge to ground. The volume is directly proportional to the difference in potential between those two electrical points. (It takes 10,000 Volts to jump a 1” air gap assuming average weather conditions)

Just bought some of those new Mountain House meals because they FINALLY came in a 1 person serving size vs the 2-2.5 serving. Good to know that flavor actually tastes good so I don't have to plan a backup meal.

I successfully lived in a beautiful green belt for 15 months over the last 4 years. I love that place, no one but the rising creek ever told me I had to go. No one ever knew I was there.

Squirrel hunting when I was a kid, ran on a moonshine still. It was real disorganized, jugs everywhere, a camp fire. I started looking at stuff and this old guy in worn, denim overhauls stepped out from behind a big hickory, with a double barrel .12 gauge broke over his right arm. I was 13 years old and sooo curious. He was about 50ish, two weeks growth of beard and about 12 feet tall. At least that’s how he looked to me. “What you doing boy”? I near jumped outta my skin. “Just squirrel hunting, Sir”, I trembled. He didn’t smile. He said, “You need to go on. You’re not welcome here”. I did an about face as I said, “Yes, Sir”. Didn’t look back. Texas

I have followed your channel for years. You do a good job. I’ve never commented till now. Regarding the poachers camp: never, ever, publicize your reporting of such. Do report to the authorities. DON’T tell me or anybody else about it. Big mistake putting that in the video. Other than that, fine work. Btw, I’m in Mississippi. Doc.

The sound you described sounds similar to an object breaking the sound barrier. Along with the light you saw, it sounds to me like the rockets we used to use in the Army. Not saying that's what it was, just my 2 cents

@21:30 what he describes here is possibly actualy lightning from a "flammagenitus cloud", wich can create "dry lightning" in the presence of moisture in the atmosphere like from the front carrying rains behind it. Fun reading on wikipedia!

20:20... Sounds like an electrical transformer shorting out.. They have a brilliant flash, pulsing glow and a sonic sound at distance. The fires you mentioned down steam of the transformer might have burned a pole down and brought power lines into contact with one another and fried the Transformer.

I can understand your logic: We cook every night at home, why cook on the trail? What I don't understand is why you use those solid fuel tabs. I've found that they gum up the pan and take too long to boil water. Granted, its more convenient to carry the tabs than alcohol for a Trangia. I guess it comes down simply to personal choice. Great video, keep 'em coming.
