Feb 2019: 10 clients attempted a winter ascent of Stok Kangri (6150m) in Ladakh - organised by WhiteMagic Adventures. With temperatures under minus 30º, and deep snow, the degree of difficulty made this a formidable challenge. Yet the solitude and quiet of the expedition-level-task was exhilarating. We reached the summit camp at 5300m, full of energy, with the peak in clear sight. Unfortunately bad weather fouled things. It kept us locked-in for 2 days and 2 nights, our buffer for the summit attempt. Sadly the climb had to be abandoned for lack of time. Yet, with fresh wait-high snow that the storm had brought, coming down the mountain was an adventure in itself! This short film attempts to capture the fun of this incomparable winter expedition.
