EASY Mangrove Snapper Fishing Under Skyway Bridge Tampa Bay

- In this video, I went fishing with Max over at @groupermvp on his boat and we were targeting mangrove snapper under the Skyway Bridge inside Tampa Bay. We stopped at the Skyway Fishing Pier first to catch live bait (greenbacks, pilchards, and sardines) with a cast net. Once we had bait, we set up under the Skyway Bridge next to the rocks around the pilings and began chumming the snapper with chunks of bait. It didn't take long for the snapper to get fired up! This technique is an easy way to catch a limit of mangrove snapper for dinner. We teach you how to catch the snapper there with all the gear and techniques we used so you can try and catch them on your own.

Have you ever fished for snapper inside the bay? If so, what's the biggest one you've caught?
I have an inshore spot I kayak to where I regularly catch 14”-16” mangs and limit out!
Biggest mangrove snapper I’ve caught is 13 inches in the bay
So far about 13".

Are you visibly seeing the bait or just cast netting where you know they normally are? You seem to usually cast near the relief bridges for them, thanks.
You guys are lucky the dolphins didn't show up and feast like they usually do over there... I've got so many videos of them just sitting under the boat waiting to crush our snapper. They are crazy around Skyway

I'm from Bonita Springs and we have Estero Bay / Lovers Key down here most of our snapper are smaller we don't get the 18 - 20in fish they r awesome!! Best day I had was inside a pass and the bait was thick,, Saw fish blasting the bait on top at a mangrove point so drifted baits back and got 15 keepers between 3 of us but no 18 - 20 In fish but we had a mess of snapper and fed 7 people that eve with a awesome fresh snapper fry !!!

Nice outing! Drove over the Skyway not too long ago, but you're about 90 minutes north of me. Cool to see that bridge in the video, along with your nice catches there. Did an overnight fishing trip with a buddy on the south Skyway fishing pier in '94, and the snappers haven't changed! Lol
