I've kept most my mods done by myself to bolt-on only as my mechanical knowledge is novice at best. Today was different. I started my process with the c38 + Delicious Flex Fuel kit and I'm pretty sure I've studied your video enough to pass an exam about it at this point. Your step by step has been a huge help so far and words cannot express how much I appreciate having a walkthrough with this level of detail.
@FRS2K, sorry to bother you! I made it pretty far into the install and i noticed i haven't found a home for that 10m bolt with the spacer sleave around it that you have standing near your socket on your splitter at 15:12. Do you remember where that little guy ends up going? 😅
@lep897 it was so long ago I have no idea 😅 even rewatched the video lol. Do you have the instructions that come with the kit? There are a lot of little details that it leaves out and you have to guess on a few things. We are at a drift event all weekend but if I remember to I can look at the car and see if I can’t track down where I put that piece. No promises tho because I’m terrible at remembering things unless it’s the next track event lol.
@@FRS2K I'm probably getting in contact with JR directly in the morning. I see a part number listed in the instructions for a horn mount piece but it isn't sited anywhere in the pdf so I'm kind of hoping that's what it is. I know for sure it was packaged in the intercooler/Oil cooler box. Anyway thanks for the response hope you have a fun time at the event.
I know this video is a little older but it helped me install my kit a ton! Did the loud belt squeal/bearing noise go away after awhile? You comment on it in the video after your first start. Mine is doing the same thing
Just saw I never responded to this. Sorry about that. Glad the video was helpful. Honestly we don’t really notice it if it is still squealing. We love the sounds that it makes and we have close to 50k miles on it now and haven’t had any issues. Still loving every moment of it.
As much as everyone loves flutter, it is usually bad for turbos and superchargers, Its boost surge. I am pretty sure it is the orientation of the diverter valve. Push vs pull and i have ours installed to "pull". It also could either be not enough vacuum to keep it open or a faulty unit since they are plastic with a rubber diaphragm. Not too sure but its sounds heavenly lol. It also only does it when we take it to redline and let off. Its a steady whoosh sound while driving.
FRS2K I’m running the dump valve by forge. I plug the inlet that recirculates back into the intake. Instead of the air being recirculated back into the intake, it gets dump into the atmosphere.
Thank you so much for the walk through on the install. This really helped since the JSRC instructions seemed like they were illustrated by a donkey... Since I bought this c30 kit used from a friend, he gave me a base map with a carb tune along with some others. I don't even think its the same calibration code as my model and combination so I'm not 100% if I can even run it. I'm also fbo e85 and fully catless so I may have to dish out for a custom tune right? Would you recommend driving it at all without a base tune? Thanks!
Your welcome! Glad it was helpful. I wouldn’t recommend driving it without a base tune. If you have a tuner that is local you might be okay otherwise I would reach out to a tuner and have them send you a base tune. Good luck with the build! If you have any other questions just let us know
It comes with a diverter valve which is similar to a bov. Some people will replace it with a bov to get a different sound that they like. We are still running the diverter valve that the kit came with and love the sound.
@Beau Davis what part of the video are you referring to? Its probably just the "crickets." A lot of people complain about that noise with these cars but I dont even notice it anymore. I actually think its the audio making the supercharger sound a bit more piercing. A buddy has a rotrex blower on his si and it sounds similar. This kit is obnoxiously loud but thats why I love it so much!
@@FRS2K when you started the car and were priming the charger, tomorrow im installing the same kit on my brz and didnt know if it was supposed to sound that way
@@beardedSpartan454 it will probably be loudest on first start up. You prime the system before starting it to get traction fluid into the rotrex unit. @@FRS2K damn impressive! I just clocked over at 87k, how much of the traction fluid did you pour in the reservoir after priming before start up? And how much was left over?
@@beardedSpartan454 we used the whole bottle. I need to check the level but after filling and running it through the system, it was just over the full line. The nice thing is that it lasts a long time. At most you will only need to change the fluid once. Good thing too since its almost $100 a bottle lol
I put a base tube on it before starting but yeah you can technically drive a vehicle after adding a turbo or supercharger as long as you haven’t changed injectors and you stay out of boost and sometimes a higher bar map sensor. It’s not recommended but if you are smart and don’t floor it, you could drive it to a tuner. A lot of people will do this when remote tuning. We upgraded to the high boost pulley, id1050 injectors, dw300 fp and flex fuel kit. After doing that, the car ran like shit because of all the extra fuel it was getting. At that point it was not drivable until being tuned but it still started.
