My camera did some messed up s**t and literally removed a FULL clip of Mary doing my eyeshadow, this was not on purpose. Sorry guys, I’ll ask Mary what shadow it was because I can’t remember
Melissa Alatorre I LOVE this video! It's so informative and we learn so much from the interaction between you both. It's obvious you have such respect for her techniques and she clearly returns that respect. I hope you do a series like this. As usual, with whatever you do, it is always with class 💟🌹🌸🌹
She is a makeup wizard. No hate on Instagram makeup but this is how you accentuate someone’s natural beauty and really make them look the best version of the themselves!! Love it!
Melissa you looked so focused! Mary would describe products and you would nod and assure you were listening. She looks so sweet and genuine just like you!!
It was a winning combination...amazing artist, using incredible high end products on a gorgeous face. Enjoyed that a lot and I think I’ll watch it over and over. The layering was so interesting. She must die at the amount of product you tubers pile on their faces.
I think you look gorgeous. So different. It’s incredible how different makeup techniques can change someone’s face structure and look completely. You are gorgeous regardless.. but loved this look on you ...
I just realized that almost all real reputable makeup artist don't ever use any pore filling primers. Also the makeup they do is very different from TH-cam and Instagram. Wow she killed it with this look 😍
I’ve never left a comment on any TH-cam video before, but I just have to say I really enjoy watching your videos- I appreciate your knowledge of skincare and makeup application. I’ve watched other ‘celeb’ collabs but this was easily the best one, because you didn’t seem to be trying too hard and you just kept it real and genuine, AND it was awesome to watch a pro in action! Thanks for keeping it real and not being exactly the same as lots of other ‘gurus’!
I like how effortless and quick her movements are, and she did a really great job with the skin - it is glowing, not cakey, simply magic! I do agree on the skin preparation, but not the way of application - it is a myth that rubbing products in your hands first will help and it is also a waiste (and this stuff is not cheap) as most of it stays on her hands But apart from this she's a very talented mua :) And to the people complaining she's using overrated, sponsored la mer products - yes, she does but that's not the point of this video - it is about her excellent technique and tips. You can use equally good but way cheaper products and still end with a similar effect :)
Rubbing isn't usually necessary with skincare EXCEPT la mer. All of their products use miracle broth and it bas to be warmed up to activate the product. If you aren't warming it up, then the product isn't working properly.
A. N lol that's because they don't follow instagram makeup trends and have to make sure their clients makeup looks good in real life not just in photos.
I have been waiting for this video!!! I'm so happy this took place, Melissa. Mary is absolutely lovely and is so charming. She's also so down to earth! What an experience. She taught me a great deal. Thank you so much for filming this and for sharing this experience with your subscribers!
This video has made a huge difference for me. I have been having an issue with too much foundation and it not blending in. Contour underneath is genius and then I need less foundation!!! Thank you!
Love that look! At the beginning I thought what is she doing to her face (with the contouring and foundation), but I told myself to be patient and at the end it looks great. I hope you can recreate the eyes because I love how beautiful they look.
That was so great to watch. I didn’t want it to end. Thank you.......I was going to say I would have loved to have seen how Mary did your eyeshadow but it was completely Out Of your control. Eyeshadow is my favourite part!! But it was still brilliant to watch.
Cynthia Lopresti that’s a celebrity makeup artist kit for ya! If anything take away the tips from that is video not actual product - if you nail her technique it’s amazing what you can achieve with even the shittiest of products I promise
Awesome video. One of my top fave makeup artists. But how did you skip over all of the eyeshadow products? Can you let us know which eyeliner and eyeshadows she used on you? Please. Thank you!!
I really enjoyed this video because she does makeup so different than most people on youtube, and its really interesting to see different techniques that still lead to a gorgeous look. xo
I love how excited you're in this video, this is exactly how I felt watching this :D I've learned so much from watching this in a really fun way. Also I agree about skincare and the importance of a good soothing moisturizer, it saved my life before (I've never tried La Mer, but finding one that suits your skin even if you have an oily skin is very important).
Holy hell!!! How educational!! I definitely want to try to buff the contour and concealer on before a light layer of foundation. That upper lip contour was amazing as well. Your lip was poppin!!!
I've been getting really inspired with Mary Phillips! So, I looked her up on youtube. Then your video popped up. I never thought I needed this in my life gurl!!!
Great tips! I never would have thought to use the lotion after makeup is finished with a big fluffy brush! Love the way she uses so many buffing techniques too!
wowza. your makeup looks great! love watching her techniques. melissa you are so sweet and humble, i loved hearing you laughing and talking about your own mistakes
This was so incredibly informative. I could listen to you two talk about makeup for hours. You could do a video recreating the look to fill in the missing part.
Really loved the video Melissa. The format was great as well. I did really enjoy all the questions at the end. I think you need to get Hung on next !!! xx
Okay Mary Phillips! I tried this and the concealer, foundation, etc application worked so well with my skin! Sometimes when I try other methods on my face, they don't look great but this one turned out AMAZING!
Also, I did not use LaMer or Tom Ford or crazy expensive products ... I used Juice Beauty anti-oxidant facial moisturizer, Mario Badescu Rose Water facial spray (in lieu of serum) , Loreal Lumi foundation, Maybelline Master Conceal (for the contour), Maybelline Fit Me concealer and Nyx dark circle corrector in light/pale, Nyx Banana powder and had amazing results. If you need more affordable versions of this, just improvise, people, with products you already have in your makeup/skincare collection. I also used the Urban Decay Naked Ultimate Basics palette for eyes (and just did what I thought would get a similar look since the eyeshadow part got cut out), Tarte Park Avenue Princess bronzer, Clinique cheek pop in plum pop mixed with bare minerals Ready Blush in The Secret's Out, a random highlighter from my Ipsy Glam Bag and Nyx lip liner in peekaboo natural over some lip balm. I have large pores and oily skin but my face does not look or feel greasy at all.
Never would've thought to contour before foundation, but the logic makes perfect sense. Definitely trying it next time I do a full face of makeup! :D Awesome video!
I liked this but at the same time ... Those products lol I was literally laughing la mer skin care is such a joke ... Best marketing in the world lol (horrible ingredients for hundreds of dollars) 😂😂 DONT FALL FOR IT LADIES
I love this! Sometimes I take a quick shower (avoiding hair and face of course) after I do my makeup in the morning...but honestly it's just because I was too cold when I woke up to face getting wet...I'll pretend it was to get the dewy look
Oh my gosh I thought I was crazy when I wash my hair first, do my makeup THEN shower my body! I thought it's only me who thinks all the face makeup meshes into the skin so much nicer after a warm bath. I had done this by mistake, but I saw how much fresher my makeup looks when I do that. I can use a setting mist, but it's not very handy at the moment. Thanks for making me feel less weird about this haha XD
My camera did some messed up s**t and literally removed a FULL clip of Mary doing my eyeshadow, this was not on purpose. Sorry guys, I’ll ask Mary what shadow it was because I can’t remember
Melissa Alatorre yes please!!
Thank you🙏🏼
Pin this, Mel!
Can't wait to find out!

Oh my god, HOW!!! I’ve been stalking the internet for YEARS on her technique! THANK YOU!!
Wow Melissa looks awesome with this makeup but I have to say Mary also looks flawless!
Yeah she looks like she has a filter on at all times!!!! so poreless and shiny in a good way
I know, I was mesmerized during the Q&A . Kept hoping she would spill some of her own skincare secrets, cause I am blown away.

whenever professional done makeup on youtuber face, it always surprise that outcome is so natural
A. N lol that's because they don't follow instagram makeup trends and have to make sure their clients makeup looks good in real life not just in photos.
indeed

You should recreate this look with affordable products 😊😊😊😊😊😋😋😋
I love Mary’s makeup on herself! Need to know her lip colour :)
There wasn’t footage of her first applying the eyeshadow and I was really interested in her technique lol :(
Yes, please!
I noticed that too! I really wanna know what she used...
Lol but other than that, it’s amazing you were able to have Mary on your channel! The looks were beautiful and you are amazing makeup artists
Nikki M why she did that?
Why don’t show us the shadow?
I am SO happy you guys did this video. I have been searching TH-cam for the last two weeks for tutorials of Mary doing makeup. I love her work.
Love that look! At the beginning I thought what is she doing to her face (with the contouring and foundation), but I told myself to be patient and at the end it looks great. I hope you can recreate the eyes because I love how beautiful they look.
Now that Mary’s technique is trending I remembered that I heard of it before and came back to this video. This is gold! Thanks again Melissa
That was so great to watch. I didn’t want it to end. Thank you.......I was going to say I would have loved to have seen how Mary did your eyeshadow but it was completely Out Of your control. Eyeshadow is my favourite part!! But it was still brilliant to watch.
Wow, she is STUNNING! And what an artist, she is a wizard with a make up brush!
Love that Mary came on and shared so much of her knowledge
BEAUTIFUL but 4000.00 dollars of la,,mer products later. Tom Ford. How about a dupe list. Xoxo
Cynthia Lopresti that’s a celebrity makeup artist kit for ya! If anything take away the tips from that is video not actual product - if you nail her technique it’s amazing what you can achieve with even the shittiest of products I promise
YES to a dupe list to all these products! Especially the creme de la mer ( That's if there can be dupes to cremes) ha
Got me thinking of refinancing my house so I can buy all these products. Girl this look is GORGEOUS and I love the tips!!
Love love this look! Can't wait to see what eye shadows she used!
Awesome video. One of my top fave makeup artists. But how did you skip over all of the eyeshadow products? Can you let us know which eyeliner and eyeshadows she used on you? Please. Thank you!!

I love this type of makeup! So natural and even the night time makeup is just so beautiful and not harsh. 😍😍😍
i love her so much, she's so down to earth and beautiful inside out, same as you melissa
Holy hell!!! How educational!! I definitely want to try to buff the contour and concealer on before a light layer of foundation. That upper lip contour was amazing as well. Your lip was poppin!!!
i love her work so much! So pretty
She is so lovely!! I love how light she is with face products. I have to try the contouring before foundation now!
I loved this! Her makeup looks so soft and flattering, and you still look like yourself.

Okay Mary Phillips! I tried this and the concealer, foundation, etc application worked so well with my skin! Sometimes when I try other methods on my face, they don't look great but this one turned out AMAZING!

You look like a movie star, so gorgeous!!!
